Mega Man Megathread

Feel free to talk about anything related to our favorite blue robot/Reploid/NetNavi/whatever here. All series are welcome.
I playing megaman network battle and a weird cross world from megamanro boktai 2 right now. I really like it. I finish the whole megaman Zero gba and except Last boss of megaman zero 4 I enjoy all of it. Anyone know how I should encounter Ninja reploid in megaman Zero 3(forget his name he was only in first and didn't appear till 3)

IIRC you have to enter Cyberspace.

I got this cool pixel art magnet of Mega Man the other day. Seems to be the sprite from Wily Wars.

Do you guys also have any cool Mega Man merchandise from the series?
I also own a Mega man NT warrior comic that came out when the show aired on TV.

Lol, no, I'm poor.

Merch take space so no thanks.

Got some figures I can dig out if you are interested. They're stored behind a bunch of crap so won't be able to until this weekend.

These pixelated magnet are cool. Would be awesome if there were PS1 sprites for X4 and Megaman 8 too (my faves). Sonic looks awesome too

Mega Man was inspired by, among other things, the tokusatsu series Ninja Captor.

I love how tokus in general influenced in several video games (such as Goemon having a mecha or Captain Falcon having Kamen Rider attacks in Smash) the same way 80's action movies influenced on others (like Contra).

I can see the Robot Masters in their designs

Yes very Robot Master-esque.

Astro got his own games too, some of which were pretty good. The one on PS2 by Sega looks great I played a bit of it and really enjoyed the first hour or so. Just never got far into it. And the GBA one by Treasure was great, had a blast with that.

I never tried the PS2 one but Omega Factor is great because Treasure were.

I kinda understand that Tezuka's company weren't too keen on an action game as Astro himself prefers dialogue before fighting (kinda like Superman in a way) so he's more pacifist while Megaman goes into the fray in his games.

I do love Bombman's stage having spherical building in the background.

I think these were shown in a Tezuka manga but I cannot find the right panel.

Also Bombman was really supposed to be called Bomberman but Namco said "no"?

I would've liked that kind of crossover myself.

Yeah I really love both Astro boy and Megaman for similar reasons. Good-spirited characters are a great and wonderful joy. I think the 2003 Astro boy was my favorite, felt like the most fleshed out and well-rounded version of the character.

Also I can’t find the source for this anymore but thing I liked about Megaman 1’s development was that apparently all the robot masters were initially concepts for the main character but they found all of them fun so they decided to just have all of them in one gameplay style, creating the weapon switch system.
Sounds kinda wild but If this is true then neat.

It's talked about in this interview (see the "Cut Man was first" section).

Wagwan Fakey, for you, what’s in your opinion the best well-written piece of Mega Man media?

That's cool, I've always appreciated the attention to detail in the background (and foreground) in Megaman games. Nice when one work of art acknowledges another in this way, thanks for sharing!

I highly recommend the PS2 one even though I didn't get far into it. It's very true to astro boy anime series. And yeah Treasure were the best.

While we're on the topic, some cool art (it's official apparently)

My favorite boss in megaman zero is definitely omega in all his form and his backstory.
Have anyone played GBA megaman network battle?
