Mega Man Megathread

okay. i thought i had played another megaman game on the gamecube, but it left such a nothing impression on me that i was convinced that i just read about it in a magazine at some point instead of playing it. it had looked like a battle network game.

Ah, I understand how you feel in that case. X6 is a game that has been in the spotlight for online discourse for a long time, and is seldom mentioned in a positive light.

I have a similar opinion to the likes of Sonic 06, as I admittedly like the level design more than most. Kingdom Valley is one of my favorite Sonic stages, period. But online discourse for that game is something I tend to never engage in, as the game is a punching bag to the majority. And of course, I'm well aware of that game's many faults, too.

In both cases, I would've loved to see 06 and X6 get the amount of dev time they deserved.
sonic 06 would have been a good game if development had started earlier, or sega got rid of the stupid unmovable deadline. it just needed a bit more time for polish and playtesting and finetuning the story a bit.

X6 is the game that will harm you even if you try to defend it.
I don’t mean that metaphorically. The game will literally come out to you in real life and start beating you up.

Jokes on you, Mega Man X6 fans are into that shit!

weird. i would say x6 is my favorite mega man game, and this has never happened to me.
i guess the game knows better than to mess with me then.

It definitely feels that way every time I go through Gate Stage 2.

Greatest world tragedies:
- black plague death
- the Cold War
- the release of Megaman X6

One of the best intro stage songs imo. I enjoyed X6. Not the best Megaman game but I liked it. Appreciated X doesn't really know how to use the Z saber, but still carries it with him. Appreciate the solitary feel of this intro song, X is without his comrade Zero and still grinding. Nice contrast to the zero series which sees Zero as a solitary warrior, and also explains how X had to hold the fort after Zero "died". Yes Zero is unlockable, which doesn't make full sense, but it's just a game. I enjoyed it, music decent and additional features and upgrades were fun and varied. Difficult and challenging game. It's no swan song, but who cares?

I liked what X6 brought to the table but I concur with the flaws the game has.
My top 5 favorite games in the X series are
  1. X4
  2. X2
  3. X8
  4. X/Maverick Hunter X
  5. Command Mission

Feel free to talk about anything related to our favorite blue robot/Reploid/NetNavi/whatever here. All series are welcome.
I playing megaman network battle and a weird cross world from megamanro boktai 2 right now. I really like it. I finish the whole megaman Zero gba and except Last boss of megaman zero 4 I enjoy all of it. Anyone know how I should encounter Ninja reploid in megaman Zero 3(forget his name he was only in first and didn't appear till 3)

IIRC you have to enter Cyberspace.

I got this cool pixel art magnet of Mega Man the other day. Seems to be the sprite from Wily Wars.

Do you guys also have any cool Mega Man merchandise from the series?
I also own a Mega man NT warrior comic that came out when the show aired on TV.

Lol, no, I'm poor.

Merch take space so no thanks.

Got some figures I can dig out if you are interested. They're stored behind a bunch of crap so won't be able to until this weekend.

These pixelated magnet are cool. Would be awesome if there were PS1 sprites for X4 and Megaman 8 too (my faves). Sonic looks awesome too

Mega Man was inspired by, among other things, the tokusatsu series Ninja Captor.

I love how tokus in general influenced in several video games (such as Goemon having a mecha or Captain Falcon having Kamen Rider attacks in Smash) the same way 80's action movies influenced on others (like Contra).

I can see the Robot Masters in their designs

Yes very Robot Master-esque.

Astro got his own games too, some of which were pretty good. The one on PS2 by Sega looks great I played a bit of it and really enjoyed the first hour or so. Just never got far into it. And the GBA one by Treasure was great, had a blast with that.
