I prefer Final Fantasy to Dragon Quest.
It does use the Zelda formula. Not entirely, but the inspiration are pretty much there. Ironic, as both Okami and Twilight Princess came out around the same time.I also hear Okami regarded as a Zelda clone, not sure I inherently agree. But it's much more better to me than Zelda.
It's an action/adventure game so I see the similarities.I also hear Okami regarded as a Zelda clone, not sure I inherently agree. But it's much more better to me than Zelda.
Shame that it could've started a new series of games but it's lost to the limbo...Strider (2014) is the best metroidvania of the 2010s. It's one of the rare games in the genre I actually enjoy playing.
Dust: An Elysian Tail (2012), and Guacamelee (2013) beat Strider (2014) by two years and one year respectively. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate (2013) also beats Strider (2014) by one year as well. Though Strder (2014) would more so be a hack n slash in this case, but same difference applies. You know what? It almost feels like a beat'em up Metroidvania hybrid and almost like a precursor to Mercury Stream's Metroid Samus Returns and Dread.
