PlayStation will be introducing regional pricing starting August 20.

The PlayStation experience will be considerably different after 2028 when Sony stops with physical games and everything comes together for PlayStation, and Sony, in a closed ecosystem where they fully control pricing and access, with digital ids and governmental interference in the mix.

Glad I didn't bought into the PS5! PlayStation is turning from an entertainment provider into a jailer. PlayStation service turning hostile.

Has anyone on this site brought up sony's dynamic pricing gimick?
I've mentioned it before but I haven't seen others bring that up.

I think I did. But it's always good to mention this bullshit.

It's very facinating how these pricing decisions go isn't it?

"Let's get rid of disks to save up on costs!
But let's keep the prices the exact same while also regulating regional differences.
Despite the face that there's no disk involved and these are just files being streamed and downloaded into people's machines."

It's my theory, but I think Sony is trying to get ahead of the very gloomy forecasts about a steep decline about console sales and a very tough next few years for PlayStation, including with the PS6, by closing everything up, including Crunchyroll, and jacking up prices and bringing more and novel subscription services.

Modern corporates are built upon the need of continuous financial growth, and Sony is probably trying to secure that by doing everything they can to increase revenue. PlayStation is nowadays the backbone of Sony's quarterly earnings. And with the dire forecasts, it's looking really bad for Sony.

That's a valid theory.

In my humble opinion I think that sony is 100% within their rights to do what they want with their business and how they run it.
Just don't expect people to say thank you for getting bent over.

Now I've seen the petition to have sony back down from their digital only plans, honestly speaking I think it's a waste of effort.

All the petition does is tell sony that if they hold off digital only then their customers will crawl back on their knees and subscribe to PSN+ and the whole cycle repeats.
They've shown their lack of disregard for their customers, so it'd be irresponsible for people to keep trusting these companies.

Personally i've given up on PlayStation. It's clear where their focus is, and it's not on providing a good, enticing service for PlayStation users.

So have I (well I've given up hard on modern gaming as a whole, save for a few select titles).

I haven't bought anything on the PlayStation store since the dynamic pricing debacle. And every change by PlayStation since then made me more against it.

It seems Sony is messing with consumers; soon they'll be charging for Wi-Fi usage. I only just saw the news now.

Genuinely don't understand how this isn't completely illegal. Determining that one person should pay less, while another should pay more seems like complete discrimination and the death of a fair market.
