I think this is a very good reason to switch distributions. I use KDE Plasma as well (although on Arch) and I agree, I think their software is among the best. Switching to a KDE Plasma desktop would likely be a better fit for you then, most popular ones have it as an option.the best software i found in linux (i've started using linux recently, sorry) are from KDE team, i really liked dolphin, haruna and kdenlive. so i was thinking a KDE distro maybe will be better for me, and found about kubuntu (fedora looks to be harder to learn and neon they say has many bug).
Neon looks to be a good option too, but i read it is full of bugs.
If you're already familiar with Mint/Ubuntu and happy with it, then Kubuntu would be a good choice. It's been years since I looked at Neon, so I can't speak on its bugginess, but the main difference between them is that Kubuntu is an Ubuntu-based distro which uses the Plasma desktop from the Ubuntu team, and KDE Neon is the an Ubuntu-based distro which uses the Plasma desktop from the KDE team. Personally, I would give Kubuntu a try.
