What Nintendo series desperately needs a fresh release?

Speak for yourself, I'm more than fine with eating the same foods I happened to like.
Fine, if you're happy to pay 60 bucks on the same game we got a decade ago but personally I want a sequel to actually feel like an entirely different game and not a glorified DLC, I could excuse Mario Bros 2 The Lost Level back in the 80's but not a modern game for doing it.

But seriously, I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on here. I don't dislike post-Star Fox 64 because they're different, I dislike them because they're bad. Hell, one of my favorite Mega Man games is Mega Man & Bass, and it's generally considered to be somewhat of an "odd duck" in the series.
Or maybe they're not your thing? I mean your opinion doesn't define objectivity and even Adventure was rated fine by critics.

You saying "xxxx is bad" is merely an opinion not an invariable, universal fact.

PS: I'm maybe one of those weird ones that prefers the SNES game over 64 simply because it was really innovative in 3D and was impressive for the SNES hardware, 64 was an expansion on the concept but was basically a remake of what was already done.

This is the same reason why I cannot rate Zelda Twilight Princess above Ocarina of Time because the later set the basis of the former.

Wind Waker tried something different at least, same with Majora's Mask despite their flaws.

I want a real Starfox 3 that introduces more characters (like in Starfox 2) and a new villain instead of bringing back that monkey.

The Retro Studio DKC games managed well without the Kremlings because K.Rool got defeated 4 times already.

PS: Kid Icarus Uprising had an entirely new antagonist compared to Medusa and a new gameplay perspective. Of Myths and Monsters on the GB was just a port which was disappointing to me because it didn't add anything new aside from the new antagonist.

I could easily turn this statement on you.

You saying "xxxx is good" is merely an opinion, not an invariable, universal fact.

In the end, we will stand by our opinions just as they are.

Then maybe you can just not state your opinion as facts to begin with? Adventure and Assault also have good reviews so your opinion doesn't reflect the entire fanbase. Even Command despite the touch controls (I do like the Zelda games on the DS, especially the

Anyway Starfox Zero has proven that redoing another SNES/Lylat Wars was not a good idea, we don't need to have a 1:1 copy of the same game each times.

Heck, people also loved Mario game spinoffs because they dared bringing another villain instead of Bowser yet again and
in Echoes of Wisdom they subverted expectations with a new antagonist that isn't Ganon yet again!

Maybe the next Starfox game (if there's another) should subvert expectations instead of bringing back this antagonist (which would feel really lazy from Nintendo if they ever did that). Kid Icarus Uprising
started the story with Medusa's rebirth (the same Medusa from the NES game (ignoring Orkos from the Gameboy semi-sequel seemingly) so that once you defeat her generals and her there's a fake ending followed by the reveal of the true antagonist of the game, Hades the lord of the underground.
which is why the game was such a great sequel.

I hope Lylat Wars fans aren't the Ocarina of Time fans of the franchise by asking Nintendo the same game without even wondering what made the original good to begin with. Even Lylat Wars had a lot of changes from SNES Starfox to begin with. Fanboys refusing changes is why franchises cannot evolve therefore die out.

PS: My favourite one is still the SNES game and I do think that Fox and other Cornerian people speaking the Lylant language is better because they're aliens. I also think that the OST of SNES is just better (sorry Kondo but your work is better in Ocarina and the Mario series in general).

Do I need to include "I think" or "in my opinion" in the every statement I make to make it clear it's just my opinion?

I don't care if my opinions reflect the entire fanbase. The opinion isn't more "correct" simply because it has majority's support. Thinking otherwise is a blatant appeal to majority fallacy.

Also, Star Fox Zero was bad because of the controls, not because it copied Star Fox 64.

Yes.

An opinion isn't meant to be "correct" or not" to begin with.

And even if appeal to majority is sometimes used as a fallacy some things are rightfully popular like Ocarina of Time being considered to be one of the best game of all time.

I mean Lylat Wars is the most popular game in the franchise then it is also an appeal to majority fallacy to say it's the only good game, right?

Also, Star Fox Zero was bad because of the controls, not because it copied Star Fox 64.
The controls weren't the only issue. The fact they re-rebooted the story was already a mistake, even Tomb Raider made the same error.

I consider that even if it had fixed controls it would be just a facsimile of what has already been done.

PS: I consider that Andross as an antagonist is pretty much a cliche cartoon villain with little to no depth (aside from him being a former scientist that got banished without even properly explaining what lead to that).

Imo Starfox could benefit if there are Gundam inspired themes of seeing two major factions where there are tensions (like how in Andross' army you see primates and reptiles, it could be a case of sci-fi speciesism where non mammalian people are less considered in Corneria and the Lylat System as a whole) instead of just having a Super Robot series plot like Grendizer (which Andross kinda is inspired by King Vega in some way).

Other series like Kirby, DK, Metroid and others also had many different antagonists.

You're right, opinions aren't meant to be "correct." You're the one who brought up the the rest of Star Fox fanbase liking Adventures and Assault as a talking point, for some reason.

It's only a fallacy if you use popularity of the game as an argument for it being good. I never did, so my argument isn't fallacious.

Bruh, Star Fox is a series about cartoon animals fighting in space. It was never going to be serious.

Also, I don't know why you keep bringing up Andross. I never said I don't want any other antagonist other than him. I wouldn't mind seeing a new villain, provided they're as entertaining as he is.

Kirby’s Dream Course was so fun and challenging. Those isometric mini-golfers are such a blast—it would be cool to see a new release of something like that, de-mobile-gamified. Bright and fun pixel art, no micro-transactions, just a solid puzzle experience. Of course I want it to still look like a retro game, look where I am lol

A more classic feeling Zelda in the main series for sure. It's not Nintendo anymore but I'd kill for Banjo-Threeie.

Also, I'd love to see what they could do with a new Eternal Darkness.

I need another Kirby Air Ride.
Without Sakurai it won't feel the same...

Dream Buffet was a nice testing ground for that.

As in top down or OoT style?

I think the best move would be keeping the BotW like map but with more tools and more dungeons while keeping sanctuaries and secrets scattered around the map.

Eternal Darkness all the way. I need a new Dennis Dyack game goddammit!

I do take issue with the idea that the Switch has no experimental releases, I mean they let Yoshio Sakamoto (creator of Samus and director of Metroid) direct a third entry in the Famicom Detective Club games, and it's this weird-ass M-Rated psychological thriller! They remade the Another Code duology! Astral Chain was published by Nintendo! Fatal Frame! SMT V was given such a marketing push when the Switch was announced (even though it sucked in the end). Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's foremost series right now!

That's not even counting all the wild third party exclusives. The truth is that no one cares about smaller, more experimental games like these, and they're immediately relegated to being hidden gems. F-Zero GX was in the clearance bin three months after it released and no one could get into Codename S.T.E.A.M. Remember all the pushback Metroid Dread got for being a 2D game at $60?

I think it's more of a risk/reward thing. Games are too expensive to afford taking risks nowadays.

Which is kinda sad that people think that a 2.5D game cannot be as qualitative as a fully 3D one.

We could go into the obvious, F-zero, Wario Land, etc., but I'm far more interested in the more obscure titles that didn't take off but deserve another chance; like Chibi Robo, Punch-Out, Diddy Kong Racing, or Drill Dozer. I find it really odd that their experimental Switch releases have pretty much all been severely lacking when they have IPs that are better thought out, have solid characters and gameplay loops that no one is bothering to explore.

Also most of all I desperately want a new Kirby Air Rider
I'm thinking of it being Star fox. Imagine playing star fox but with a detectivr style gameplay action adventure I guess?

Yes but no.

I'm sorry but while I would love to see an expanded lore and universe about Cornerian's lifestyle I'd rather have my Starfox playing like Starfox.

Spin-offs are fine when a franchise has many games like Pokémon and Detective Pikachu.

On the other hand if Starfox had a new on-foot game (or having on foot sections) I'd rather see Jet Force Gemini style of TPS than a Zelda clone.

Or just making it like Kid Icarus Uprising which had Rail Shooting and on-foot Third Person Shooting

My wishlist for it would be:
  1. Making Fox McCloud older/more mature.
  2. More lore bits about James.
  3. A more serious threat than recycling Andross
  4. Branching paths (not necessarily as many as 64 but more than SNES, Assault having one path is too limiting despite how hard the Gold Medal mode was)
  5. Being able to play as more than Fox (in post game or bonus modes)
  6. No too many on-foot sections, two-three at best.
  7. Making Full Range easier than having it as clunky as 64.
  8. Not too many cheesy dialogues.
  9. More than one laser type to vary gameplay styles.
  10. An energetic soundtrack that isn't orchestra (sorry but the SNES ost is my favourite).
  11. Star Wolf being more important to the plot (perhaps a "hard mode" where you play as Wolf either as a prequel or a post-game).
  12. A boss rush mode as well as other bonus modes outside of the main story.
  13. Not making the graphics photorealistic for the sake of it (I like an unique art style).
  14. NO GIMMICK

Normally I would have said Famicom Detective Club, but not only did both games get a remake on the Switch but they also made an entirely new entry. So not that.

Advance Wars needs a new entry. I know the GBA games got a soulless remake by a shitty dev but it wasn't released over here and I want a new game. But I think this series is probably dead for good now. Any time they try to make a new entry is gets delayed somewhere because of global events, it's just too sensitive of a topic for Nintendo.

Wario Land needs to come back. Idk why it hasn't.

I would like to see Mother come back but I believe Itoi owns it so it's really up to him. At the very least it would be cool to see remakes in the style of the Links Awakening remake. I would also like to see a remake of Kaeru no tame ni Kane wa Naru in that style. And Seiken Densetsu, now that I think about it, but that's not a Nintendo game.

Drill Dozer
That's not a Nintendo game.
You can now play them on 3DS in 3D, and pick whatever color you like
I should try this out, I'm curious how it compares to the 3d effect on real Virtual Boy hardware. I live the Virtual Boy but it's hard to recommend these games to people because some of the games are downright unplayable in emulators due to the lack of depth. The 3ds could be a good way to play if it fixes that.
I know it isn't a "series", but it so deserved to be...
The N64 and Gamecube really had the potential to make this into a classic Nintendo franchise. It's a tragic shame that never happened.
Stunt Race FX was one of my favorite games as a kid. I was going to mention this one until I saw your comment.

I've bought 3D glasses just for that.

Even a release of the original with an official english translation would be a miracle.

Sadly I think that it was also mostly a tech demo.

What makes Stun Race more worthy than a new Excite game?

I honestly hope some games just never get translated. There's been too many times where something nice existed and then got translated and western fans ruined it. If anyone wants to play it now there's probably a fan patch, we don't need to bring it into the mainstream and let the manchildren shit all over it's reputation.

I don't think we will ever see another racinf game from Nintendo because it would compete with Mario Kart

Kid Icarus and since donkey Kong is basically dead a new one will be cool

i definitely agree on a new entry of the advance wars games.
the remake/re-boot game isn't entirely without merit. they went through quite a bit of effort when it wouldn't be needed. a lot of the music tracks cross over with each other, mixing in the character's theme with the co power themes. clone andy is a playable character, complete with his own remixed themes and animation for his hyper repair power.
but considering that the game was delayed, there was plenty of time to add new stuff, or even work on adding in dual strike into the mix.
and i did some looking around a while back, days of ruin is the final chronological installment of the advance wars games. it would have been pretty neat to rework the story a bit to include some cameos from the 4th game and include it as well.
