I heard it was basically a sister series to Zelda in many ways.A reboot of The Mysterious Murasame Castle in the style of the remake of link's awakening/Echoes of Wisdom or basically with the gameplay of "old zelda games"
While I do agree that Sakurai didn't mind which franchise to take for his rail shooter (Starfox was a potential IP to revive) I think it was still good to modernise it beyond a simple action platformer (because unless you're Mario it wouldn't sell the best).I'd say Kid Icarus could be done well in a action rpg format, and could use a good reboot, the ds game tried to meld genre's which imo hurt it.
Well like i said a action rpg formula in the style of the on foot sections could work, zelda is NOT a action rpg unlike what some people think, zelda is in a genre between action rpg and action adventure, when i say action rpg i mean full on action rpg, not elements of it.While I do agree that Sakurai didn't mind which franchise to take for his rail shooter (Starfox was a potential IP to revive) I think it was still good to modernise it beyond a simple action platformer (because unless you're Mario it wouldn't sell the best).
If the sequel to Uprising made more than being a rail shooter/run 'n gun/3D twin stick shooter it could be good but I don't really want it to be a Metroidvania nor a Zelda-like because it would be redundant.
Maybe keeping some of the shooting elements but making level bigger (not open world, just wider areas) could work with dungeon aspects for some levels (without being entirely like Zelda).
Kid Icarus NES/GB was in that sweet spot between Mario, Zelda and Metroid but all 3 IPs already evolved beyond 2D so I don't expect any regression for KI.
Kid Icarus on 3ds is one of the jewels that I love with all my being...Another wild take on Kid Icarus would be pretty rad!
The 3DS eShop had a ton of weird little experiments that went nowhere, but were all really interesting. There's this effing brilliant Streetpass game called Monster Manor where you build out a haunted house with pieces you get from meeting people IRL, then have your Miis go through it in the style of a dungeon-crawling RPG. We'll never get another game like that again.Rusty's Real Deal Baseball came out over a decade ago and I'd love to see them return to it in this new era of F2P/Battle Pass monetization.
Yeah I'd probably also say Elite Beat Agents. Phenomenal game, all the Ouendan games are all-timers. I've been doing a replay on my iPad recently and it's a perfect EBA machine. It's a shame nobody's hired the director to make another game like it or Gitaroo Man, and an even bigger shame that the project he's currently attached to is some NFT blockchain crap. I wonder what happened.Elite Beat Agents! Oh my god, how can we live in a world where they only ever did one of these!? I remember it being really popular at the time, but no one has mentioned it in like 15 years. I have a secret theory that the fan-made PC adaptation, osu!, was so good that it put the developers completely to shame. But c'mon... it's been ages! This game would work perfectly on Switch (or Switch 2)!![]()
Maybe the time has passed, but I'd at least appreciate a translation of the two JP-exclusive games. I can't believe no one's ever done that... I also always wished that the guy who did the art for this game worked on a manga or anime or something. I love the character designs.
And the upgrades could make sense as well.Kid Icarus would work so well as a Metroidvania type game. Keep it as a sidescrolling platformer, but add more depth and exploration to the levels, while keeping the spirit of the original game. The maze levels at the end of each area were challenging and so rewarding when you finally got to the boss.
I loved the first Warioware and each subsequent incarnations were good low budget games using the console's main gimmick but I gotta agree, at least they coexisted on the GBA, GC and Wii but since the DS (if Master of Disguise counts as a Land) and forward they stopped.I kinda want a new Wario Land game. Wasn't a huge fan of Shake It (still like the game. 2, 3, and 4 are just better imo), and some indies have come out to fill this void, but it would be nice to see Wario back in action instead of fucking about with WarioWare. The dream would be to just make Wario Land 4 but more. Maybe 1 new move but his live set in 4 is already great.
I'm still genuinely surprised Nintendo didn't make a Game & Watch on the Nintendo Switch Online.Game & Watch Gallery. Not "collection", not some new shells, Game & Watch Gallery. How fun was that?!
Wow, they never made a sequel to this!? I've been thinking it was a major Switch franchise this whole time, but I guess... yeah, it really was just a single launch title! Did they ever do anything with those characters after the game came out? It seems like they were pushing the game a lot at the time...In terms of modern Nintendo, I'd elect ARMS as a game that deserves another go. Yea it is only 8ish years old, but it was an inventive game with tons of wonderful ideas and some absolutely brilliant networking solutions for both lobbies and general netcode
Hoo yeah, excellent game, but the controls truly did suck beyond all comprehension. I'd also like more online multiplayer content, too – I really liked that game's multiplayer mode. And they can re-release the AR cards, too!that masterpiece with controls that are more tolerable to average sensibilities.
