I regret to inform you @diapered , but...
I-am-4-parallel-universes-is-ahead-of-you-meme-2.jpg

I'm actually on Day 10, having played all Saturday night in one sitting. I am simply pacing out my screen shots to avoid having my messages merged so I can post farm like a true blue fool.

Speaking of which...
Day 5:
GPIE01_2026-05-09_01-44-09.png

Bee lining for those lil blue sons a bitches, I am struck with suberb RNG and have the bread bug spawn mere minutes into my first incursion, allowing me to snag the float and the gear in one fell swoop.
GPIE01_2026-05-09_01-53-29.png

GPIE01_2026-05-09_01-54-04.png

Day 6:
In spite of massive skirmishes with the Fiery Blowhogs, since it was fire on fire violence, not a single Red Pikmin was lost in the making of these screen shots. Another double part scoop for moi!

More mediocrity ensues...

I’m playing on a modded Wii with Nintendont, so no RA for me. So I’m posting these two screenshots as proof I beat Forest of Hope before unlocking the blue Pikmin. I’m not really motivated by achievements, but that sounded like such a fun challenge and it definitely stretched my skills. So many drowned yellow Pikmin.

Day 7:
After the total eradication of the Fiery Blowhogs, exploration of the Navel floor is a walk in the park. However, 2 yellah fellahs got burninated by flame geysers after they got trapped on a corner trying to leave with the Libra, and we had to leave it behind. F.

Day 8:
Clan up of Day 7, while also venturing out into frog town. Taking the boys in blue to five-star frog splash city, I end up slipping up the weighted down rope-a-dope and 6 gillimen got squished. The Dolphing is prepped and ready for the Spring, but there's still 3 parts in the Navel left in reach...

The mediocrity continues with no end in sight, when will god stop my sinful hand?

Is there a safe way to kill those yellow frogs?

Is there a safe way to kill those yellow frogs?
The frogs are a bit tricky in Pikmin 1. The safest, no death strategy to kill them is throw Pikmin from a distance onto them. This locks them in whatever spot they’re sat in if you keep throwing Pikmin on them. When they jump, whistle your Pikmin off of them and repeat until it dies. Can be slow sometimes, but it’s the safest option.

Other strategy is riskier, but quicker. Have a massive army of Pikmin with you, bait them to jump and immediately swarm them with the c-stick as they land. If you’re lucky, they’ll go into their stun animation where they can’t jump and you can continue to damage them. If they do jump, IMMEDIATELY whistle your Pikmin away. If you’re quick enough; you should have zero losses and can repeat until it’s dead.

@X y b e r - S k u ll is right about there being no guaranteed no death strategy for the Wollyhops in either Navel or Spring (or later Forest of Hope). However, I wholly recommend the secondary swarming option for minimum casualties. Their stun window is small, but not random, and must be timed the moment they hit the ground after a slam. Pikmin only get stunned themselves during the initiation of their attacks (when they ascend into the air) and makes it difficult for them to respond to Olimar's whistle (rendering them vulnerable for the following slam).

The ideal method is to bait them into attacking, and then swarm mere moments after the hit the ground. If your timing is apt, you will see the Wollyhop shudder, indicating they are stunned and you can let your Pikmin continue their assault. But, you only have a second or so before they recover and rise up into the air (which will stun your Pikmin) so it's best use the shudder as a sign to back off and bait the Wollyhop into another attack (similar to how you might fight the clams in the Impact Site). Rinse and repeat, and each encounter should result in minimal to zero losses on your side.

Note: It should go without saying that you (or anyone else reading this) should avoid taking on multiple Wollyhops at once, and should always attempt to bait them out into 1 on 1(hundred) encounters.

But first, clearing out my belly button...
GPIE01_2026-05-09_03-40-41.png
GPIE01_2026-05-09_03-47-26.png

Having enacted a brutal cleansing of the Navel, getting the Coil was no problemo (since, no Firehogs) but that still left the bosses. I overprepared for the Puffstool fight thinking I needed bombs or something, but you can just flip him over with regular swarming so I just moshed him with 100 Red Pikmin.

Surely you will not regret using 100 Red Pikmin. *OMINOUS FORESHADOWING*

This leaves the Beady Long Legs, and while I ended up clearing the way to him, I ran out of time. I decided not to go back for just single part, so he may live....for now...
DAY 10:
Big centennial, dropped down on the Distant Spring for the first time, and what do I see?
GPIE01_2026-05-09_22-20-12.png

Why! Great googly moogly, there's a gosh darn egg over here! Perhaps it contains friends!

However, it DOES contain a delectable gold pearl for my troubles! See? You really can't go wrong with 100 Red Pikmin!
Note: 100 Red Pikmin were not harmed in the making of this screenshot, only about, like, 15 of them. 100 Pikmin were made in the creation of this screen, however, and this shall be known as the Great PikPik Baby Boom of 2026.
GPIE01_2026-05-09_22-52-45.png

Oh! But @DinoRexMax ! You simpleton! Now you've forgone collecting a part for the day in your battle with the Smoky Progg! Now you are a day behind on collection!

You certainly would think that....wouldn't you....::smug::smug::smug

Yee-Haw! Now that's a lot of Red Fellas!

Honestly, losing only 15 Pikmin to the Smoky Progg is actually really impressive for, what I assume is, your first time playing.

Now let's see it deathless🗿

Oh, this is far from my first playthrough, but this is the first time I've ever bothered to fight the Smoky Progg (I usually jut ignore it). You may also see the a Snitchbug skulking around my landing site, and that motherfucker is the primary reason my death toll was so high to begin with! The Blowhog blasting away my Pikmin didn't help all that much either.
Now let's see it deathless🗿
I'm playing OG Pikmin since I was already om day 10 by the time you posted Pikmin 1 Squared, This was probably one of the better runs I've ever had in Pikmin, and I really feel I can push my Day count by about 2-3 days less if I tried hard enough. So I'm thinking about trying a challenge run using Pikmin 1 2 later in the month to do just that with the better engine.

But without further ado:
Day 11:
Smoky Progg won't bother no more, now it's time to enact my planet wide extinction event on this place too.
GPIE01_2026-05-09_23-36-51.png

GPIE01_2026-05-09_23-39-42.png

Bulbears and Wollyhops and Blowhogs. Oh my. Got a little lazy fighting all the Dumples and lost a few more fellas then necessary, plus whatever I ended up missing with the Wollyhops and Bulbears. But. back on track with 2 parts per day!
GPIE01_2026-05-09_23-42-44.png

Day 12:
GPIE01_2026-05-10_00-35-15.png
GPIE01_2026-05-10_00-45-56.png

And there I go opening my big mouth...

In clearing out the rest of the Wollyhops and Bulbears, on top of having to tear down all these walls Mr.Gorbochev, I had to ditch the Rotor. Thankfully, the landbound Blowhog gave me a ton of Blue and Yellow pellets to make up for my over abundance of Red Pikmin.

Thanks, I'm doing that with reasonable success now. It looks like only one of them is necessary for the spring challenge::thinking

That's just how it is in this bitch of a hobby. Once you know the trick behind something, it's not quite so hard (unless it's stealing Philogoston from Flame Demons in Curse of Darkness, that shit's impossible). The real issue is knowing there's even a trick at all.

*AHEM*

Day 13:

I mean, sure, it was because I was already half-done with a part from the day before. But, like, c'mon, three parts in one day is still pretty baller! And one of them was for beating a boss!

But now here comes the hard part, which is the northern part of the Spring which is swarming with Bulbears, and that stupid Candypop Bud puzzle...

Day 14:
GPIE01_2026-05-10_01-46-32.png
GPIE01_2026-05-10_01-52-08.png

See what I mean? Spent nearly the whole day clearing out enemies and I just barely had time to get a single part! There are like, WAY too many Bulbears back there!

Day 15:
Oh baby, another triple! Three days in one post, ain't that just quaking crazy Jimbo?

Distant Spring is a distant memory, now it's time to back track to Forest of Hope.

You may be wondering how I lost 4 Pikmin on a day after clearing out all the enemies (in which I lost 0). Well, that's because a few Yellow Pikmin got mixed in with the Blues during transport and drowned....
::sadkirby
Also, one or two may have fallen off the platform with the Candy bud, so, like I dunno....

Day 16:
First round of backtracking, starting with the last 4 or so parts in the Forest of Hope.
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-15-54.png
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-22-08.png
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-26-10.png

In my efforts to emotionally prepare myself for being mauled by Snagrats, I did the two easy parts that were blocked off by water. Naturally, having been away for so long, everything respawned, and now I have to do some more population control again.
Day 17:
Isn't it weird that I'm less worried about going toe-to-toe with a beetle tank fuelled by liquid hot magma vs a one legged bird?
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-29-42.png

GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-37-13.png

This was an obvious moment of save scumming, and it took me multiple tries to position my Pikmin correctly (without triggering the Snagrets to just kill them on the ledge outright) as well as move all my Reds up for the fight to get the maximum damage output (Blue Pikimin are pretty much mandated to move the cardboard box blocking the way).
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-48-55.png

But I did it, and thankfully you only need to fight the 1 Snagret by the ledge in order to actually acquire the Geiger Counter and not all 3 that are there. If you have any flower Pikmin, enough of them can be fast enough to carry the Geiger Counter out of harm's way without needing to fight the other 2 Snagrets. However, you will not be able to make it past the 5 or so Bulborbs on the way back to the landing site, so you'll still have to clear them out if you haven't already.
GPIE01_2026-05-10_02-52-57.png

Phew! 11 Pikmin dead, that's as low as I could manage it before I called it. I know that one of the more successful strats in dealing with the Snagrets is to try and swarm them as they emerge (getting them all onto it's head) but I couldn't seem to get that to happen this playthough.

Two more days of backtracking, 1 dance with the Pearly Clamp Clamps and the final tango with the Beady Long Legs, before...
Hidden.png

1000024384.jpg

49 dead in a day, all lost to a Spotty Bulbear. Still worth it, got two pieces in a day. I'm a terrible Captain.

I looked back at me and my Lovers original save. It was out first ever Pikmin experience, the both of us. We cleared all 30 pieces on day 29. And... over 900 Pikmin were killed.

1000024336.png

So I'm about to hit the start of day 6, but I've only gathered 2 parts and as I previously reported, killed a lot of pikmin.

At this point, am I better off starting again before I get further into it? I've learned a decent chunk already so I feel like I'd be less likely to make so many rookie mistakes this time around.

It's do-able but you'd have to get at least 2 parts on at least 3 days to be able to get all 30. If you're not going for the good ending though then yeah go for it.

I personally would consider restarting if you don't want to feel quite so rushed.

Yeah I'm probably gonna start a fresh save then.
I'm not too worried about getting all 30 parts, as long as I get the 25 needed for the good ending, but I do feel the pressure is a lot higher with so many days wasted to learning how the game works lmao.

I'm going to start again and see if I can't just unlock the yellow Pikmin without having to sacrifice the red ones lol

If you task only blue Pikmin to pick up the Geiger Counter, they'll leap off the ledge and carry it across the water. 🌊

OK, now that will take some serious changes in my route::thinking
The achievement on RA for the Distant Spring challenge mode requires 450. That's why it's not popping up for you.
Aw, I wanted to point that out, but I didn't think you were messing up the achievement because you didn't know it was 450 and that you were just hitting shy of it. I didn't want to poor salt in the wound...
