Well, the Internet Archive is at least still standing
Maybe they should’ve been cut a while back so the rest could’ve stayed up a little longer idk.i think most of the costs is for storage. don't forget, myrient has ps3, xbox/360 and wiiu games. those can
There is stuff I found on Myrient that I couldn't find on the archive.Well, the Internet Archive is at least still standing
Seems to me to be some kind of open invitation to others, like: 'It's 6,000$ if you guys wanna help with this'Maybe I am the only one thinking about it, but you need to be rich or have a very very good job / salary in order to be able to pay even for a few months those 6000 dollars monthly. I believe saying that amount is not an info anyone needs.
Why? Everything else is pretty well archived. You can find complete romsets of every cartridge based system in multiple places online... the Xbox360 and Up are where it actually becomes difficult to find good dumps. That was the main good thing Myrient had going for it.Maybe they should’ve been cut a while back so the rest could’ve stayed up a little longer idk.
Every time there's a leak someone tries to upload it to Internet Archive. You know where it gets DMCA'd first? Internet Archive.Well, the Internet Archive is at least still standing
Yeah that's it's main use case. Older romsets are easier to share and store, but once we get to the HD era those file sizes start to get pretty large. It limits where they can be shared and how much one person can keep. If anyone's looking to back anything up I would start there, that is, if you have a spare hard drive or two laying around. Why? some of them could be removed. there is an app for the ps3 that acts like the psn store and most games barring a few are on there, along with dlc, updates and even themes and avatars. the rest could be removed as long as there is a back up somewhere else on the internet.Maybe they should’ve been cut a while back so the rest could’ve stayed up a little longer idk.
Oh, that's good to hear. Actually, I haven't checked on Vimm's in a while, I mostly gave up on it after I found Myrient. Hopefully the other sites will expand a bit to fill in the gaps while another site inevitably rises to try and take it's place.
I am worried though about how much stuff will end up becoming lost media though. I imagine some stuff will just vanish because no one thought to grab it. Bootlegs and unlicensed games especially.
There are sites that still have this sort of Stuff.I have no idea what kind of site that was but life goes on.
Thankfully lolroms.com has those new officially translated roms and more in their archive. This sucks. Especially because some specific content (Namely, official translations of games like "Ripple Island", "Mappy Kids", "Ninja Jajamaru: Ginga Daisakusen" etc) may be lost to time................ unless some gigachad decides to back all of those up and store them elsewhere.
Is there even a good alternative at this point? Vimm's has some missing patches since a bunch of Nintendo and Sega stuff was taken down, and the same is true for Internet Archive. Not to mention all of the stuff that's Myrient exclusive... I know we have a whole month left but still. It truly is a tragedy.
