Is there even a good alternative at this point? Vimm's has some missing patches since a bunch of Nintendo and Sega stuff was taken down, and the same is true for Internet Archive. Not to mention all of the stuff that's Myrient exclusive... I know we have a whole month left but still. It truly is a tragedy.

About Vimm's Lair, good news, it seems that most of the games on there are back! (Dragon Warrior VII, a game that was removed from there months ago, seems to be back to download, and I also noticed that the Persona 2 and Persona 3 Portable duology, which were originally removed by Sega, can also be downloaded again).

Christ, what a disaster. Really highlights that AI will either consume entertainment on purpose or wipe out good communities and resources simply from the aftereffects of consuming elsewhere.

the good part is that it draws less attention to the site. the digital store for the ps3 is still up at this point in time. and a lot of games for the xbox systems are being ported or given backwards compatibility for the newer xbox systems. it would be easy for someone working for the companies to see it as a "bad thing" to see old games primarily no longer in production being archived and available for free. they say piracy hurts their companies, but piracy only happens when the service for a company sucks and product availability is non existent, not when the product is good.
the lesser the possibility for attention being drawn here, the better.

And here goes Alexandria. Myrient is THE only place I know of where you can get Nintendo leaks without having to beg and humiliate yourself on Discord. There's also heaps of homebrews and translations that I don't think can be found anywhere else either. How ironic that I'm staying somewhere with the best possible internet but don't have the hard drive space.

Oh, that's good to hear. Actually, I haven't checked on Vimm's in a while, I mostly gave up on it after I found Myrient. Hopefully the other sites will expand a bit to fill in the gaps while another site inevitably rises to try and take it's place.
I am worried though about how much stuff will end up becoming lost media though. I imagine some stuff will just vanish because no one thought to grab it. Bootlegs and unlicensed games especially.

anyways, i was referring to the fact that the size of the games is why we most likely will never have ps3 and xbox 360 or xbox games. it costs the owner of myrient 6k+ in money to keep the site up. the costs for rgt is hopefully much lower than that but it would probably get up around thar much for the extra storage needed to hold all of those games.

Man this news sucks big time understandable. Sadly I don´t have enough discspace or I would back up most PS3 games. But I know I do have all the ps3 games I do wanna play like 3D dot game hero which im not paying 150 bucks to own hell I can´t afford RE9 even so...... Man I hate when games becomes rare the always cost a fortune then.

But I understand the reasons it´s shutting down still sad :(
