And that's what a lot of people who suggest PS3 and similar games here don't understand....

There are a LOT of PS3 games that people would like to see here. They aren't like PS2 games... even the biggest PS2 game is smaller and than most compressed PS3 games, not counting tiny games or indie titles. Keeping it in the AAA range, even for 200 PS3 games compressed, you would need, depending on the games, an extra 1.5 TB to 3 TB of space, give or take.

And that's just for a couple hundred games. If it were open to PS3 games, there would be a lot more hosted. All this hosting isn't free. As I have said a dozen times already, the monthly donations which aren't a constant month to month help, but the Rest of the cost come's out of the boss man's pocket.

More hosting space raises the monthly costs, and so on.

So it's dead? I thought I read that someone saved it. Fake news, I guess. That sucks.

It's been archived and reuploaded to a repository named Minerva, so in a way yes it's saved.

I doubt MiNERVA will be as good, you need some serious money to host over 390 terabytes of data and provide good speeds, and torrents are never going to be as fast or reliable/available but hopefully someone with deep pockets steps up and provides hosting, who knows right? I doubt it. I wish them success and will help seeding the stuff I have for sure.
Better then nothing though as they could easily done nothing and just let it all Disappear all together

Direct Download won't work because Costs just keep going up and 6k a Month is Miles too Much

I tired to download a couple xbox games thru the torrent and it told me that it would take 3 days....

This.

Plus, torrents de-centralize the content, which is simply needed.
For sure. It's a bummer but even without the AI-driven price hikes, Myrient wasn't sustainable in the long-term given the amount of traffic it was getting. It was a great resource though and I'm grateful to those who ran it the past few years.

Really does remind me of pioneer sites like Home Of The Underdogs and the like — their "master file" (in which they kept games) was fifty screens long and had around 200 logins for when games were inevitably taken down from servers, so that they could be systematically replaced on-the-fly.

Commitment like that it's exactly what has made me a proud scene member for more than half of my life.
