Mega Man Megathread

Yeah! Glad to see so much perseverance. also, the intentionally bad promotional art in 9 and 10 are pretty funny. You going to move on back to X right away? or do a protoman and bass run?

I still can't beat Mega Man 9; Wily's Castle seems too difficult, but I'm going to try one more time.
Hell yeah! I'm actually going to give MM7 another go later today as well.
I'm wishing you luck!

At least there are genuinely good cover arts for 9 and 10 for the Japanese side!

I'll think about it but I also want to make a small pause with Megaman for a while (maybe up until the next month).

Protoman and Bass are interesting but the level design is still the same fundamentally.

Maybe I'd tackle the rest of the SNES MMX games once I get motivated.

Good thinking, don't burn yourself out on it. Personally I love the game too much not to do a triple run every time, hahahah.

This is why I've often done a small hiatus between some games.

My most wanted Mega Man game to do is still Powered Up. In a way I wanted to do it first but I like to keep the best for last.

Just a warning about Powered Up. If your plan is just to beat it with each character (to see their boss talks, some are funny or to play as different robots) then have a good time

If you want to 100%.... be prepared to beat each level in each difficulty with EACH character

Even most hardcore fans of the game found this nothing but boring bs (me included)

To be fair, from a subjective standpoint the game  is nothing but boring bs and maybe they made those requirements with that gameplay preference in mind.

Nah, they did it to add something else than the stage creation parts one needs to find with some of the robot masters since mega cant get it.

After thats done then the level creator is the main stuff to do

Still feels slow and clunky as shit. I don't understand why, because the PS1 games didn't have that problem.

I figured Powered Up is like that on purpose.
It's made to recruit newbies into the series at the time, least it's my guess.

I really want to get into the Battle Network and Star Force series after I finish up Classic, X, Zero and ZX. But man... it's going to be FOREVER before I get to them. MM7 is kicking my ass! I really miss that rewind feature from MM1-6.

Not to mention, I still need to watch the anime of both Battle Network and Star Force! And there's a bunch of em. Luckily I know where to find them, I just need to make time to sit down and watch.

And as far as all the mangas go... there's a bunch left to read. Not to mention the Archie comics, and the Udon comics (should be here any day now...) So yeah, as far as Mega Man goes, I have quite the backlog to get through (at least I won't be bored)

The funniest part to me about battle network is how the Game, anime, and manga are all separate canons and it's not even remotely close to each other. The first season of the anime is like... KINDA an adaption of bn1? Part 2 just uses characters from bn2, but not any of the plot points, and the rest completely falls off the rails. I haven't read the manga personally, but from what I can tell it's about as unrelated.

Also, I like playing as every robot master on every difficulty. it's a problem.

MMBN's anime reminds me of Sonic X: an show more or less inspired by the games while being its own canon.

I'd probably watch some OVAs during my pause.

Wait, Battle network (and star force) anime didnt finish, right?. Last time i got to see them there was a very forced ending

You know you can just play games out of order, right? Like, if you want to play BN/SF so badly, you can do it right now.

I appreciate that Powered Up gave those fake Mega Mans (Mega Men?) we saw in several games more personality

Mm3_holographmegamans.webp

with Mega Man?

I firmly believe that they were the templates for Bass later in the series (and probably even Zero although he's red like Proto Man, perhaps because he has already made fake Protomen with the Dark Man models).

Then again Doc Robot could also apply as a tentative to create a robot with the same assimilation capacities as Mega.

I can't. When I start a game I have to finish it before starting a new one. I used to play multiple games, and I would forget story stuff and leave games unfinished. It sucks but one at a time is the only way I can finish my backlog.

Why the hell Dr Wily doesn't build his capsules with the same material as a Met's helmet?
View attachment 153827
Probably does. but there is always a weak spot somewhere right? I doubt these things can be made translucent or protect a camera. that's probably why the cockpit is always the weak spot. Plus they are pretty expensive. he probably recycles the helmets megaman blasts off the bodys to reconstruct more met's later.

They were originally designed for modular use on construction equipment configurations, maybe that's how he builds castles so fast?

(believe it or not this is addressed at one point somewhere in a game)

First Megaman needs to get back from the moon

At least he has the company of his sisters and Roll's mom body....

All the other robots look "ok" (no comment of "Mega boy" tho), then you got this thing

Is like they decided to make the joker with the chin of a 90's cartoon but somehow ended with a Cutsman cosplay on it

I love my green smokers lung megaman and his very real sister megagirl.
Almost as much as I love my plasma powered super fighting robot with attitude.
It was awesome when the ancient lion men came from the lion cave and started turning people into lion men with their laser eye beams and screaming in dinosaur noises. Glad he put an end to that.
