It's funny how there are at least 30 games from the Classic series (plus actually 4 collections) (Power & Fighters for the PS2 is both a port and a collection of the 2 arcade ones, although they're also in the Anniversary Collection for the PS2, GameCube and Xbox...)
So yeah, fair enough
I've finished Bass' story and I see what the other person has said about this game's level design being made much more for him in mind than Megaman's.
Maybe Capcom wanted to make a Bass-centered game but were worried it wouldn't sell if there wasn't the main protagonist on the cover so they added him in case.
I will probably make a small pause with MM before going for the two Wiiware games but then I would've completed every mainline Classic games so far.
Any franchises from the 80's that never stopped getting any new entries after one or two games eventually end up with a metric ton of spin-offs, ports, remakes and side games after all. Just look at how many games Bomberman and Pac-Man also got.

If we remove the 12 (soon to be 13) games from the mainline series what are the other games then? Should we count the GBA port of MM&B as a separate game?
Megaman BN and SF are almost a different sub-series altogether yet there were classic platformers featuring them... I am a bit lost sometimes.

The five Gameboy games
the Game Gear one
Wily Wars (technically is a collection/ports of the first three ones but it has the Wily Tower so for me it counts)
Challenger from the Future (the WonderSwan one that's a sequel to &Bass)
the two DOS games (?
Super Adventure Rockman
Battle & Chase
RockBoard
Soccer
the two Arcade ones
Rockman Strategy (the one that only came out in China I believe)
POWERED UP I FORGOT LMAO
...and I'm probably forgetting some other game or weird Spinoff XD
for the record, most of them are spinoffs that I just know they exist, some of them I've never played myself
in 3 it was mostly 1 boss you face, a bonus optional boss, enemy groupings, and a change to some chip codes (kinda hard to explain without explaining a lot more, but the best I can put it is... deck synergy balance?)
in 4 and 5 and 6 it was most of the bosses, and also heavily effected what forms megaman could take.
weirdly 3 blue and 5 team colonel were more like updated versions in some ways... they released after the original 3 and 5 in japan, but were sold like equal versions overseas. 5, though an upgrade, still feels more like a separate version than 3. I really don't see much point to playing 3 white to be honest, the differences are pretty small.
also, some characters in 4 red come back in 6 gregar
and same with 4 blue and 6 falzar
it's recommended to choose one of two sets for a first play, and I'd personally recommend colonel as the "5" for either.

true, but in 3, you only get 1 form at a time, and you need to specifically need to go out of your way to have a playstyle that nets you these. in BN4 onwards you get all the forms the game has to offer over time.
That why I love fan works so much... things like 8bdm spotlights all the minor characters in it's story. I kinda not trying to fit into cannon because it can go places with them.
I'm done with 9, I'll do 10 tomorrow and that will wrap up the entire Classic series up until Dual Override comes out but 2027 is still 11 months away.
Am I dreaming or we're seeing an "8 bit-ified" version of MM7, MM8 and MM&B?

Nice!!! Did you find this one difficult at all?
also, yes, they even have the weakness weapon for each specific game XD
truly going the extra mile.
10 might be my favorite of the classic series... or at least of the "8 bit" ones, so I'm excited to hear your opinion.
Well, it's more challenging than 7 and 8 overall but that was mostly because you no longer had any slide nor charged shot that made your character a bit more versatile.
I think it's probably a bit easier than the first three NES games but still harder than 4-5-6.
I'm eager to do it because I heard that 9 was meant to taste water about the series' interest and how 10 improved upon (especially with Proto and Bass being reintroduced back).
It's hard to say the 8-bits because technically they're not really 8-bits (I doubt everything from 9-10 can be possible on the NES natively).
I do think that we can make a clear cut between the "Retro Classic" games with 1 to 8 (or & Bass if it counts) while 9 onwards are the "Modern Classic" games with the WiiWare games and Megaman 11.
