I'm not sure if it counts as a recurring pattern, but Seven Force from Gunstar Heroes is a very fun boss (also arguably the only good part of Gunstar Super Heroes is it returning). Obligatory mention to Alien Soldier for having its own ersatz of it.
The boss of Final Dreadnought Part 1 in Freedom Planet is totally Seven Force.

Also I absolutely love how in Kirby (and many other games by Sakurai) the boss does a teleportation spam sometimes before doing their pattern again

A defining characteristic of Kirby and Super Smash Bros. endbosses:

Any RPG fight where you either have to use an item or use a command, for a genre i love due to unironically liking farming, being forced to use your noggin instead of just mashing Attack and spamming buffs and casting Killyoudead is refreshing strategy, bonus to Giegue, since not only is a good example of that, but how you beat made me shed tears

Also, if your final boss uses attacks from past bosses, you won me

I remember how Yunalesca basically made you learn her pattern by juggling between zombified characters and avoiding her healing (which damages them).

Yeah, though I think hitboxes improved a lot by gen 3. Not perfect, but quite a bit better in geral.

They both just smack you down from across the map with crazy noodle like appendages. Its pretty rough and as good as DSIII and ER can be its definitely a negative for me.
I guess it wouldn't be a Fromsoft game without difficulty spikes. The problem is knowing when they'll happen. I wonder if ranged makes things more manageable.

Another fun one, is when Magma Dragoon throws hadokens at you in X4.

You think it's Miyazaki's way of being covertly hostile to the fan base? to lead them to want to suffer through difficulty to prove themselves?

My favorite one must be Eviterno from Blasphemous 2, you think you won with him at 30%- of his life, then he forms a pillar of redness and...

ARCHICOFRADIA

the bosses reappear as ghosts ready to use (Casually) their most annoying moves before Eviterno slashes you with an almost screen wide swipe of Crisanta's Sword
the music playing made the battle absolute cinema

Dark Falz from PSO. From the Garden, to the final form, unforgettable experience playing online on the DC for the first time. You never forget it.
I'm wondering why some japanese game love to have a pretty garden for the final boss.

I really like the last form of Tageri from Ikaruga specifically because this one uses the homing attack that your ship had while also switching polarity (like your ship) which makes it a cool deadman's volleyball as well as an epic confrontation between two strong-willed persons

The Stone-Like is more like a survival challenge than a proper boss though.

Treasure has many other great final bosses.

Larry "Solo Wing Pixy" Foulke from Ace Combat Zero.
You literally end up with a joust with jets, need I say more?
Seriously, you end up fighting your previous wingman in a superplane after your new wingman got blown to pieces by your "buddy".

You literally end up with a joust with jets, need I say more?
I remember I tried to do that years ago with a friend in Saints Row The Third. It was the best idea I've ever had and we missed for about fifteen minutes until we gave up and I was consumed by autistic rage.

Mother games. Instead of attacking the enemy to death, you sang it to sleep, prayed with you heart, or did nothing to show kindness to your opponent.

Also, escape sequences. Metroid, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil give you that "It ain't over yet".
Giegue from Mother might be my favorite final boss in a game. The Mother series always asks you to use some form other than violence to deal with the final boss. I still think the way you deal with Giegue, by appealing to the humanity that had found its way into this inhuman creature, is one of my favorites.

Orgodemir from Dragon Quest VII is also a favorite final boss of mine. While he isn’t anything special necessarily on his own, I feel the themes of VII, and the fact that you’re more or less responsible for ‘creating’ the world again makes the fight with him very personal.

Thank you for appreciating me.
