I was stuck with Volvagia for a while in Ocarina of Time as a kid, I didn't know english, so I just got the hammer but didn’t make the connection that it had to be used with him until my brother told me

The bosses in Skyward Sword were quite tricky, it was a clash of them being quite creative and the Wii Motion + not working as I wanted to.
I swear to god, the hardest part of Skyward Sword is getting the wii remote plus to work properly

The Water Temple itself...

The final battle of LTTP with the pig ganon took a me a while to figure out, I was very young and had absolutely no idea about a lot of the optional upgrades, making the battle seem impossible at first.

The legend of zelda 1. second quest gleeok.
at first, got frustrated, then got used and becoming in a test for measuring my patience and skill.
helped me to git gud (and really was for the better).

I always had troubles for bosses that were more puzzle focused.

Zelda 1 is quite challenging for sure. I had issues with Manhandla (although some well placed bombs were effective enough) and the still exclusive Patra.

I remember the other one that really gave me a headache:
smog. oracle of ages, the boss of the fifth dungeon. half monster, half puzzle.
such a soul-sucking troll... and it is back as a boss in echoes of wisdom.

In some way I'm glad when Nintendo remembers about Capcom/Flagship's Zelda but it's hard to understand how this boss works without a guide.

You know what I mean: those bosses that took dozens of tries or more, the one's that made you really utilize what the game gave you. Sometimes the only reward was the title of beating the beast. (Looking at you FF8, my love)

But yeah, who's your favorite secret bosses? Mine are something along the lines of:

- Omega Weapon from FF8 (Not really hard to beat, but the first time ever it was not a treat)
- Yiazmat from FF12 (Time sinker boss, had to choice but to Google the solution here, happy when it was finally done..)
- The Phantom/Sephiroth from KH1 (I loved all the secret bosses in the KH saga)
- Shoutout to Adamantoise in FF15 just cause he's the biggest turtle you know.

The Demi Fiend on Digital Devil Saga.
You have to be on New game plus and Fighting him is basically watching a whole 1 hour (even more) movie because he has 18.000 hp. But when he has the half of that he summons Pixie and buffs himself to have 27.000 hp. The good thing is that only happens once in the battle. But at the end he is still a superboss.

Also another great secret boss is the Rathalos on MGS Peace Walker

Would it be safe to assume that I could find similar secret bosses in SMT: Nocturne HD? I played a portion of it after buying it. I'm pretty good with Persona games but Nocturne is definitely harder as I assume most SMT games might be.

Omega in Mega Man ZX is a cool boss fight.
Man.. I was never really good at Mega Man back in the early days. I played a lot of Mega Man 8 on PS1 but I was just trash, lol. Should go back and see if these developmental years have made me better (or more tolerant).

Digital Devil Saga is easy. It was basically made to attract people to the franchise and if you know what are you doing you're ready to go. And answering your question. In nocturne there's an extra dungeon that is opcional but there's are a lot of new bosses like the Archangel Metatron and if you complete it You can get one of the best endings in gaming. Also in Nocturne try to learn the weakness of the enemies if you learn how to abuse that system you can get very far in the game ?

Monster Hunter have the most craziest elder dragons I've fought but the one that really test me is definitely Fatalis (White and Black)

Those guys just can't give me a break, even in the new gen (Iceborne), it felt rewarding though

Drizzt in Baldur's Gate. Dude is extremely overleveled and after you meet him he will go away forever so you only get one chance. And even better, if you do kill him, he will return in the second game with a whole party to take revenge on you. One of the most memorable battles of the game.

Other than that, Culex in SMRPG and Ozma in FF9 come to mind.
