Love sprite work since the nes era. Best art is definitely Dragon Quest/warriors art by Akira Toriyama. Absolutely love everything he made. Also loved Sunsofts art too, but sadly they got worse in the 16 bit.

More Final Fantasy 1 sprites. They are really nice looking for an NES game. The D&D influence is clear.

To think this is how Final Fantasy used to look....no hate by my god it looks awful XD the origins port made everything look very beautiful even my sworn enemy the pisco demons and the mind flayers are present and look as unpleasant as ever

Like look at that the first ever iteration of the ochu plant or those giga guys...my my FF4 REALLY improved the art direction

Yeah I get it is a technological limitation , a limitation which makes things look outdated not gonna be overly harsh on it tho its what started the franchise so its significance is high on the list.

What do you think of the pixel remaster sprites?

I haven't seen them really but from the few FF1 PR sprites I seen it seems they went back to vanilla design instead of finally making the warrior in his knight form look like how he looks in art like goddamn you guys still depict the guy differently its quite a letdown man...

I think Iain McCaig did the best pixel art you could get in 1990. It's even better with a CRT shader.
