I don't know why but I imagined this Link having something more akin to Hero's voice before watching the video.
He's having ALBW's voice lines I think.

Speaking of Toon Link, I think he worked fine in WW but his style may be more fitting for top down Zelda games. After all it may be a natural evolution to Link from LA/OoA/OoS.

Is it normal to like Breath of the Wild more than Tears of the Kingdom? I really feel like I like the first game more despite all the new.. 'building' mechanics.

I feel like the powers were better, being able to use Magnesis, Stasis, Cryonis, and Remote Bombs as opposed to the Ultrahand, Recall, Fuse, and Ascend were all more interesting and useful than what we got in the second game.

Oh great what big rock am I gonna make a sword of now
What new Zonai artifact am I gonna craft a weap9n with, only to have it break within a few uses?

Also they changed Sheikah Slate to Purah Pad. What sounded significant and mighty has been reduced to a device with a name bearing all the attractivenesss of a feminine hygiene product.

Everything about TOTK, I hate. Is it a normal feeling, do people generally like Breath of the Wild more? I really wanna know.

Have you done any major dungeons yet? Also, ascend has lots of puzzle and navigation cheese potential. And we have adult Purah now. There's a feature to save your builds and whip them out on a whim, too.

None of that sounds good to me!

Do you guys think that time is a circle in LOZ?

Like, Demise basically says that they're doomed to keep doing this over and over again. Sort of feels like they're being forcibly stuck in a loop by an outside force as a Sisyphean trap by the original deities of the world.

Dunno if I can say "hate" but TOTK certainly doesn't appeal to me as much as BOTW.
Or, really, compared to any other Zelda offerings.

Actually, I was more-so completely enchanted with EOW!
It's a hoot.
But that's, I assume a different discussion.

Oh yeah. Echoes is great of you can find the time to relax and play it. Lots of throwbacks to the old games, it has a nice flow to the pace of the gameplay, and plays more like the originals in the series (not Adventure of Link).

yeah, this is generally how it is.
botw was designed with those powers in mind. they ported all of the environments and objects over to the totk engine and halfheartedly added a few things in to take advantage of the new powers. you're more likely to use the new ablilities in the depths or the skyworld than in the kingdom of hyrule.
and even if you tried to use the powers as much as possible, you really can't. 2 of them are for exploration, recall and ascend. fuse is for the weapons and shields; and because of how half-assed the fusions look, you don't really want to do it. all weapon combos look stupid, which can be funny sometimes, like adding meats or fruits to a broad sword or a pot lid. or adding gourmet meat to the master sword. i think it took me about several hours after it was introduce to remember that fusing weapons was how you got stronger ones. i was used to the weapons getting stronger over time by defeating monsters.
ultrahand can be for both exploration and combat; more for exploring, but fusing zonite weapons to the little attack roombas and watching them destroy the enemies for you is fun. it's kind of like having robot pikmin do the work for you.
this is part of the new philosophy that nintendo seems to have adopted for the zelda games; which is basically the one used for comic books. "any comic can be someone's first comic".
they wanted the game to be friendly to new people, which would only work on people who've never played a game before or 7 year olds. most other people know that there was a previous game and hiding the explanation on why the sheikah stuff is gone in a couple of journals left around randomly by purah was a very stupid decision.
they did this with pikmin 4 as well, and i'm expecting it with the next mario game as well. they did it with donkey kong just recently too.
so, yes. everyone does generally like botw more than totk. you're not alone on this.

They also artificially doubled the number of unique weapons by making everything tarnished as a baseline and forcing you to search the depths for the real thing once you've found at least one of the nerfed version, or so I've read.

yeah, that is a mechanic. found out about by accident and learned more about it in a pointcrow video recently. the pristine weapons can be found down below the monuments that zelda had put up to honor the fallen soldiers from the calamity. i think you have to acquire the decayed weapon and use it until it breaks and then the game checkmarks it and the better version will start spawning.

I don't like the enemy progression system of BotW and TotK.

it's alright. it's more suited to a master mode run than a normal playthrough. they devs were aware of a problem with the system and they specifically programmed one enemy for each of the enemy types to always be a basic first rank one so that people wouldn't miss out on completing the encyclopedia in botw.
probably should have been a clue to do some tweaking on the system if that's something that you have to do, but i don't think they cared at that point.

Instead of being creative, lets let players fuse mushrooms with their weapons, and make meatswords, and stick a composite bow on the end of a sword to make it longer

I'm sorry but Aonuma and Miyamoto have gone full retarded.

it would be different if we could make adjustments to the fusions or if the fusion created a new weapon, like a regular sword fused with a fire arrow makes a fire sword or a swift carrot fused to a bow makes it fire faster. i'm pretty certain that there are games out there where this is a thing. or let us find a broken weapon and repair it as we want to; increased damage, cold protection, reduce enemy armor power by -5 every hit; something like that would have worked too.

They didn't lock one of each weapon variant of each enemy of each rank though. It's very easy to miss out on the basic Lynel Crusher for your entire playthrough.

yeah, that's another problem of the system. i have no real idea on what the intended progression of the game is. so much stuff can be missed out on. you can bypass this with buying pictures of the stuff at the lab but you still need to beat the game to unlock all of that, and not everyone is going to do that.

And obsessing over internal flags like acquired every weapon type once or killed up to 10 of each instance of each enemy can be fairly nightmarish, even worse than getting all 10 free soft humanities from each area in Dark Souls.

oh yeah, i still remember the monster capturing quest in final fantasy 10. i still hate that stupid bird enemy that only appears on 3 pixels on that cliffside road. seeing it once is a pain, and you need to catch 10 of them along with all of the other monsters. at least they had the decency to show up somewhat regularly.

I loved Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time.

For me, Zelda has been dead and buried since 2017. People can call it a “revolution” all they want, but honestly , that’s a joke. Long before that, games like Skyrim already offered a far richer open world. And Nintendo didn’t even try to hide it: they clearly took inspiration from elsewhere. My issue isn’t that it’s an open world, but that it no longer feels like Zelda. The identity got diluted , the atmosphere, the dungeons, the music… all of it feels weaker. When I compare it to gems like Wind Waker or A Link to the Past, whether it’s the art direction, the memorable bosses, or the iconic soundtrack, it’s not even close. If they had given us a true equivalent of Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess in an open world, with a fresh story and all the DNA that defines the saga, I would have given it a 10/10 without hesitation. But as it stands, calling this a “revolution” is just lying to ourselves.

Should Nintendo Remake A Link to the Past? Fans Are Divided

I personally think that as good ALTTP was I think I'd like to see an entirely original entry like Minish Cap was as a top down title.

Since then we got DS titles with the stylus (and no free open world navigation), ALBW and Link's Awakening were basically remakes and Echoes of Wisdom was another experimental game.

I wish we could see a Hyrule that isn't a recycling from ALTTP.

Tulin is one of those characters that you don't mind is a hell of a lot better than you, as the player. I liked his character, and all that shit but. It's the fact he's so damn good, I mean hell, the first time I saw him attacking something I was astounded by how good he was doing.

It was one of those moments where you're trying to fuckin'  walk, and Link decides nah fuck that; Imma climb this wall instead. I find that in this game, the lack of much control is either as bad or worse than the first game; it definitely happens more often for sure, and I think a lot of that is the layout of the game's places.

That said, every time I have been lax or letting my guard down, the bird just has it covered. I don't think I've ever enjoyed having a supportive side character this much, despite the fact he sometimes comes up while I'm looting things and decides to blast everything away with wind. Fact is, he's the  real main character, and I'm just the goofy, bumbling sidekick along for the ride.
