Worst Fan Translations

It's not the translation, Ys V is somewhat notorious in the series for how many issues it has compared to every other game in the series.
That one is begging for a remake

Don’t think it was a fan translation but the translation mainly the voice acting for “Sotsugyou II: Neo Generatio” is hysterical to me

This is not an amateur translation, but overall it is even more terrible when you think that someone was paid to produce it.

Sorry, but I guess today’s my lucky day.

Wubba wubba. I'm in the pink today, boy!

As much as I think Wanderer is worse and Mask of Sun lacks any daring and does the bare minimum I agree.

I hope that the remake will be good.

As for the fan translation I give them more slack as it is free and is made by people who do that in their free time.

On the other hand an official localisation that screws the original translation and character is even worse to my eyes.

There was actually a spanish translation of Live a Live based on the Aeon genesis translation, and goddd how do some ppl have the ability to do rom hacking but dont know basic english? I wonder if those ppl were even Spanish speakers because gawd so many grammatical and contextual and any mistakes you may think of. Well maybe I'm just picky, at least you can grasp the story well, but I can't handle the translation

god there was one for (i think) the dragon quest game on gba where they made a character swear all the time and it was so funny and i cant find it anymore and it makes me so sad

The only DQ game I know on the GBA is a Monsters spinoff.

That and the first Slime no mori mori game as well as the GBA ports of Torneko no Daibouken 2 and 3.

Isn't it weird how the GBA only had spinoffs for DQ?

I think the early 00's was a weird era for Dragon Quest as a whole (until VIII).

dragon quest is a weird series in general, like the 9th game is published by Nintendo and not Square Enix, and the 11th gets a Switch port, which then gets ported back to the other consoles, delisting the original version

DQ IX deserves a remake imo. The dev history was weird because it was a ARPG before the reverted back.

I hate that modern video game trend of doing an Atlus and reselling the same game with QoL improvements instead of making it a DLC.

Not a game, but the original fan translations for Jojo part 4 manga. If you know, you know.
If you thought that it couldn't get any more insane, wait till you hear about Baki and Pumpkin Night's fan translations.

This can apply to any patch that is not good, either through grammar, faithfulness to the source writing, or formatting. For me, one of the early Fire Emblem Gaiden translations sticks out as really, really hard to read in how it was programmed.

Beyond the Labyrinth for 3DS has such a horrific translation, not because of errors but because of the translation decisions by the people who did it fucked up the vibe of the game completely, it was like it was made by an edgy 12 year old trying their best at being offensive. And worse is how for a long time i didn't saw anyone criticizing it because of that "hey man, at least he did something and you did nothing. Can you do better?" mentality.

I assumed that was the vibe of the game…

For fan translations and by process of elimination, the (original) Princess Crown patch. The original text patch had letters that were too big, overlapped on each other and made it a nightmare to actually read. I'll get to playing the newer patch one day.
