What the f*** are they thinking? God of War creator says 2D spin-off Sons of Sparta doesn’t respect the license!

Well I agree with you.
Although he is out of the running with the franchise, Jaffe helped craft and pave the way for Kratos during inception, I believe if he were back in the saddle, God Of War would be in a much favourable position right now compared to daddy and son, Sony cinema slop.
while i can understand not being a fan of the norse saga, i wouldn't count on the series fairing any better under him. he probably would just end up flanderizing the series into mindless edgy shit

Yes. Randy can fuck off even more. Duke deserves so much better and I'm not even a hardcore fan of the character.
Well, too bad. "Visionary" Adi Shankur is gonna ruin him even more and you're gonna like it

weirdly tho, i'd rather take that chance compared to what we have been served as of recent.

GoW1 level design aged really bad, especially the introducing ship level.
how so? I'm playing it right now and there's nothing overly confusing or horrendous.

Maybe pushing the block? but that isn't level design. Most of it is linear, and you only backtrack to open a door.

A hollow victory. You would've just gotten the same thing again and again, but even more shallow and a waste of everyone's time. Fatigue was setting in by Ghost of Sparta and Ascension. Let's not pretend that wasn't the case. Even Santa Monica and Sony both knew.

I be real with you: I originally was not in favor of GoW4, but not for the same reasons your Jaffe had in mind. I was just sicked and tired of Kratos in general, and wanted a new character. There was also minor fear mongering and me thinking action games wouldn't survive if the new game became a success.

I realized how stupid I was being early enough a few month before the game came out, or that I listened to such a YouTube fool online in the first place. I also didn't want to be the thing I hated, otherwise I would be no different from most of the "professional" game critics I despised. The same ones who hated on anything Japanese. So I manned the fuck up, got my head out of my ass, and gave the game chance. I liked it, and had no regrets playing. It's not a "masterpiece", but I will never downplay this game's accomplishments, nor Ragnarok. Everything worked for me, and I am glad Kratos became less of a scumbag and wanted to do some right in the world, and pass it down to his son. As fathers must do for their son(s). Or any parent wanting better for the child or children.

I love the dynamic between Kratos and Atrues, and later Mimir. The next game only adds to that. Both of these games have problems, but none of it ruined for me, nor did act as if it was the end of the world. I've done what I needed for these games, and I probably won't be playing again, but that's okay. Because I always have other games to play over the horizon. Plus, I am more of a Devil May Cry player. I am never going to stop playing those.

Dante, Nero, Travis Touchdown, Kratos, and Cereza/Bayonetta. All of these characters have grown and I couldn't be any happier for any of them. Especially Travis Touchdown. He is hands down the most consistent and well developed single player action game character ever made. Yes, he gets this over Dante and Kratos. Dante is defintely the most entertaining of all of these characters, but his character development wasn't really fully consistent until DMC3.

Seems like Sony can't win when it comes to God of War. I love all the games, including the new ones. I think a lot of people never realized how deep the story actually goes and just played 3 not realizing that 3 is the accumulation of all of the shit Kratos went through and how it brought him to that final boiling point.

Sons of Sparta had me on board immediately when I saw it was kid Kratos and Deimos. Ghost of Sparta is one of the best titles in the series and I love how it went into Kratos' family a bit. So it's cool to get more of that. Just wish I had a PS5 to play it.

David Jaffe was involved in 1 GOW game and had terrible ideas for how the series should continue so I don't really count his opinion on anything.

They're winning (mainly Santa Monica); they just don't give a fuck, nor take the word of every single naysayer costantly screaming on social media.

Yeah I agree, just seems like I never see anything positive about GOW anymore even though the games really aren't bad at all. People just don't like change.

I believe it stems from the fact they borrowed heavily from games like The Last Of Us, therefore it loses part of it's identity by doing so, I mentioned all of this in detail further back in this thread. It's not factual, people seem to like it and it's just my opinion, I hate em' and that's ok for me.

I don't really see what's wrong with a 2d God of War game. The ones I've tried always felt like playing a 3d arcade beat 'em game to me anyway. I mean Ubisoft managed to turn Prince of Persia into a decent metroidvania that plays like a beat 'em up game.

I will say if that remake ends up with over the shoulder gameplay it's trash lol.

Kratos needs to stop every 2-3 mins into gameplay to tell us the emotional pain and trauma of it all, oh and it HAS to have force walking sections of course and unskippable in-game cinematics constantly, wouldn't be modern day God Of War otherwise.

People just don't like change.
To add to this, some people just wanna jump on the bandwagon, and feel rebellious. They are usually just trying to impress people that don't give a damn about them in the first place. Parasocial relationships. Those people going on about how they're not conformist, wa t a form of confirming on their own terms, for so long it's them doing it themselves.

The Last Of Us, therefore it loses part of it's identity by doing so
It didn't lose much identity to begin with and ironically has more identity than either TLOUS title. The second game, especially, is just another overly darkened.Edgy, third person shooter with eighth generation coat of paint.

That's an exception and not the rule when it comes to people like Ubisoft. The also lead off more the talent, so fuck them.

I'm interested. Traditional camera angles or over the shoulder.

I doubt that, but whatever you say.

I don't doubt it though as its already happened right in front of me with the current ones.
I'll play how about we wait until we see actual gameplay before junking to conclusions. More than reasonable enough for me.

You're either in or out, but you're clearly out before anything has even been shown.

Note: the first two videos are meant with sarcasm.

That's fine, but let's not be overly cynical on every single game that comes out. I personally don't have the energy for that, and never cared for it to begin with. You've already made your statement not being interested in the first place. You saying it five more times really doesn't do anything.

I love Keef's parody videos on this style of stuff.

Oh hey! It's the Metroid Dread Bitchmoaner Guy.

Jumping to conclusions and exaggerating scenarios is the fun part @BrawlMan don't bring that reasonable mentality here or I'll report you to McDonalds

Sure but like Moonbits said we are currently at theorizing stage and plus we have the current ones as references to fall back on, so for the time being, I will refer to them as expectancy.

Exactly why I'm not gonna be losing sleep over whatever happens. Nor waste brain power on constant theories. If the "worst" does happen in your case, then you can have fun playing the old games over and over again, with nobody to interrupt you. That ansmd probably Dante's Inferno. Ain't it lovely?

These games are a spectacle to play, the camera panning out and seeing all the destruction around while you are still playing. 1-3 mastered this design, you weren't locked to an axis and the right stick was your multi directional dodge so you were not babysitting the camera.

I don't see them making it look or play like the new ones, it would ruin it. There's room to improve the combat if you'd like but not the camera, make it like the new ones and we are forced to remove all the platforming/puzzles and scale.

A new triple Ayylmao God of War that plays and looks like the original trilogy is an enticing invitation to me but I'm not really excited for remakes.

He isn't the guy that raged over Metroid Dread's Difficulty despite not being different from the past games?
Worse, he's the guy that got outright stuck at the beginning of the game and had a mini-meltdown calling it trash because he just... Couldn't see the obvious path forward?

I love so many of his games but the dude seems to be a very detached and bitter person following the flop of Drawn to Death.
