What the f*** are they thinking? God of War creator says 2D spin-off Sons of Sparta doesn’t respect the license!

Although i'm not holding my breath, I'm simply going to back off out of this discussion, if you like the current entries or whatever, that's cool, i never said to anyone here you are not entitled to that joy. If you have positive expectations for the remakes as well, also cool.

I just don't believe in them & don't like current GOW, that's all.
Sure there is currently nothing to go on with these remakes right now, but i can still put my two cents in to guess, and... yeah what i posted prior is exactly that, my expectations and my guesses.

A hollow victory. You would've just gotten the same thing again and again, but even more shallow and a waste of everyone's time. Fatigue was setting in by Ghost of Sparta and Ascension. Let's not pretend that wasn't the case. Even Santa Monica and Sony both knew.
I don't know if this is necessarily true to be honest. Jaffe only really had a hand in the first couple games, by 2008 he was working on Twisted Metal again. He did the original story outline for Chains of Olympus, but that's about it. Who knows what would have happened if he stayed at the helm of the series, but it is clear that for whatever reason he had no interest in doing so. Who knows what direction it would have gone in if he stayed at it or if he even wanted it to go on for as long as it did in the first place. The only other franchise that he stuck with for an extended period was Twisted Metal, and that reinvented itself in a lot of ways everytime he returned to it.

I'd also say that if people feel fatigued by a series and recognize it has run its course, it is better to just end it rather than totally reinvent it to try and suit modern audiences. I defend Cory's ability to do as he pleases with a franchise he has been so core to since the beginning, but at the same time it does feel a little silly. But we live in an era where people only care about brand recognition, especially in games.

Oh how I wish to have been in my 20s throughout the 90s and 2000s when all of these wonderful new IPs were being established, instead of spending my 20s and now 30s watching them all be turned into franchises long after they've run their natural course.

Just my two cents though, I've never been a big GoW fan of either era so it means little to me at the end of the day.

I know about what Jaffe did and didn't work on, and that's not my exact point. Franchise fatigue was going to set in, with or without him. He wasn't crying about all the milking back then in Greek era, and is only doing so now, because he got his own ass kicked to the curb.

Even though I like Norse GoW, I still would have been fine having a completely new protagonist and not Kratos.

I know not every franchise should be milked, but if they're doing and the people behind games care about what they're going, you're keep seeing more of them. There are a bunch of other avenues out there, so it's not as depressing as you think. At least Kratos got full end, and whatever next GoW (that is not the remake trilogy), will clearly have Atreus as the lead role and having his own journey.
