Video games you would want to translate yourself

That's pretty cool! I also want to get a physical release of Memory of Heroez but I'm having a hard time finding any acessible for me rn. Never heard of the game you chose, but from what I've seen it's a game that's just hearing a story? Seems really hard to translate something like this.
It was a game designed for the visually impaired. so its a bit more than a just an audio novel as the gameplay will dietetically describe the environments to you and you're stll expected to imput commands like a normal game.
It's just visual triggers & feedback does not exist, its all audible.

The Dreamcast re-release added visuals as a bonus mode, but the Saturn original is Audio only.
I think its a super neat idea as visually impaired doesn't mean blind and having a controller in your hand allows for tactile exploration and a understanding of where buttons are.
It's a game for people who struggle to see and it's I think its a honest to God fantastic way to be actively inclusive to those with disabilities.

That sounds so heartwarming and cool, I'd play it even tho I can see just fine

I'd do Comic Party by Leaf!!!

It looks super super cool and it's always been a white whale of mine for Visual Novel translations...I don't think I'll ever be able to read it though since I've never been able to commit myself to learning Japanese for very long...

I've slowly been trying to translate Ocarina of Time into Swedish through the Ship of Harkinian version. So far I only know how to edit the text boxes since it's just a giant document, but it's been a dream of mine since I was little to translate a Zelda game.
The swedish letter Åå doesn't exist in the fonts it seems, so I have to settle by using Ââ (which isn't a letter) because it's easy to mistake it for Åå at a glance. It's been super fun so far, but quite a challenge!

That is SUPER cool!! As a Danish kid only having games like Zelda and Pokémon in English was quite a roadblock until I learned the language. Genuinely why Nintendo didn't pay to have them translated too all the Scandinavian languages baffle me to this day when they DID go out of their way for German, French, Italian, and Spanish translations.

I'd also want to translate the Black/Matrix series, as it's made by the same developers of Summon Night.

Ahh yes, the amount of anime-themed games that never left Japan are staggering.

The first two games were released in English but not this one...

...along with the two Wii games.

It seems the anime and manga was popular internationally, but apparently the games didn't sell well enough. I mean we see constant releases of new DragonBall and One Piece games with the occational Naruto x Boruto, retelling the stories we have heard a billion times. Even Fairy Tail and My Hero Academia is catching a bit of wind with the recent Action RPG 'Fairy Tail 2', and yes we DID also recently get the Among Us clone that was 'Death Note' ...but APART from those handful of exceptions, we get barely anything in the west DESPITE the popularity of anime.

My guess was always because Scandinavian countries seem to have been good at English for so long, in Sweden we are taught English in school from 7 years old, while Germany seems to dub everything.
Not sure about France and Spain though.

Kinda makes dubbing for fun/passion feel more worth it though! :D

A basic re-translation of Pokemon Gold and Silver. No bug fixes, no changes to balance, none of that fluff.

Just the litany of names, towns, items, attacks, badges, it goes on.

Qupu!! Mame Goma!
Its probably one of the cutest games I ever played!! and I'd literally never be able to put it down if it had an English translation

The Summon Night games from 1-4.
There hasn't been any English translations for these games for YEARS and I don't think they're getting one any time soon.
So, I decided to learn Japanese so I can play them and ( hopefully) give them an English translation so everyone can enjoy them.

That would be awesome! This series is SO UNDERRATED

What's it about? If it's 18+ it should be some heavyshit
An article from a 2003 IGN post says :

"In Hungry Ghosts, the main character is in a state of temporary death and starts a journey to the world of the dead. The player's goal is to walk around and eventually reach the gates of judgment, where the player's fate will be decided. By default, the player's character was not doing good deeds in life and thus is fated to go to hell, but fate can be changed depending on the actions of the player.

Hungry Ghosts is aiming for freedom of choice, allowing players to make decisions in the world of death, which is filled with hatred, greed, and deceit. There is no concrete storyline to follow, and unlike traditional console games, there are no apparent right or wrong decisions. Playtime can vary from two hours to more than 15 hours, but only a part of the game can be seen in a single sitting. At the end of the game when the judgment is made, an analysis of the player will be given. For example, if the player keeps following hints, he or she will be judged as practicing the crime of dependency. If the player keeps killing enemies, he or she will be judged as practicing the crime of destruction."

So many cool Japanese games stuck in Japan! Who knows how many franchises would be still with us if Japan started translating games.
