The first video game you remember playing?

I have myBoy but I have PC as well...do you reckon I should start with the original or go straight to the remake? :)
I prefer the remake as the original has controls that are unbearable to deal with, but if you want to play the original before the remake, then go ahead! You'll have a wonderful surprise to see the difference from 1986 to 2004.

In my case it was Sonic heroes, Sonic Riders, Lego Star Wars 2: The original trilogy and Pokemon XD, all on the Gamecube, but the first was Sonic Heroes.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Wait wasn't there a thread similar to this? I'm I seeing ghosts now?

I remember da first game I ever played was airstrike 3d helicopter makes things explode and that's really it.

Future Wars/Time Travellers on the Atari ST. This adventure had fascinated me to the point of obsession. I had first played it at my school friend's house, which prompted me to purchase the same computer. Thereafter, I have always followed closely the video game creations of Eric Chahi and Paul Cuisset, who certainly need no introduction...

No apparitions don't worry, you're right there was a thread that covered this topic that's been linked to earlier in this one. I'm new to the forums and hadn't trawled back far enough to see it had already been asked (though I kinda guessed it probably had been). So I started my own thread about it. :)

3D Helicopter game sounds cool, but I'm even more intrigued to know what your favourite FF game is. I'm currently playing the 3D remake of IV and it rules. My fave overall is still X

7 is excellent for sure...
The order for me is
X > IV > VII > VI > XIII-2, Type-0, XIII, XV
I haven't played enough of the others to rank them but on disc 2 of VIII and IX and enjoyed both. Tactics is next though.

Will check out the thread at some point. ?

Super Mario Bros 3 for me. I couldn't have been any older than 2 or 3, it's the oldest memory I still somewhat remember. I played Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 really young too. Getting knocked into the Dead Pool by the CPU was my first exposure to death as a concept and it messed baby me up a bit at the time.

Either Donkey Kong Country or The Lion King on SNES. These thumbs were forged in fire.

Yeah 4 is a good game I like how much of a punching bag the game makes you , you never feel strong or very strong just barely cutting it , golbez always has the upper hand , villains in FF games are quite well done literally coolest introduction of a villian has to be the sorceress in 8.

I put a small paragraph on the FF thread (coolest thread here) it might be of interest to you as its about tactics.

Gaming can be seriously affecting at that age...I wonder about what occasionally. I suppose finding out about the concept of death through gaming can be a gentle way to introduce the subject, though Mortal Kombat is anything but gentle ?
Altered Beast had a similar role for me...quite surreal unsettling imagery in that one. I need to practice my death cry delivery

Sheesh The Lion King man....damn that game is brutal xD I got to the final boss but couldn't figure out how to launch Scar off the edge...what a bummer ?

I remember having a really strong aversion to MK for a while after that. I would dread having to look at it at an arcade or a game store play booth. Funny enough, I got a bit older and became a huge obsessive fan for a while. MK9 was my first time participating in a competitive bracket in a fighting game.

I got pretty addicted to MKX, probably my fave fighting game of the last decade or so. I ended up getting the platinum trophy for it on PS4 after many, many years. Pretty chuffed with that. Even managed to score a clip of me getting the trophy for getting 10 ranked match wins in a row (bad gameplay, but all they had to do was block and they didn't, so...)

pong but very early ..... it was a black screen with two whites line we are talking about...
i was 9 or 10 years old that day.....ahhhh memories...

I was born before video games existed...well what we call video game. I did play the electric football game when it first came out. Though i didn't play the first video game of tag, i did pay pong or whatever it was called. So old, but ive played so many games throughout my life. I'm blessed.

i think it was like a flash game or one of those preinstalled games on windows 98 cause i remember playing something on the ol beige box. the first game i have clear memories of is nintendogs cause my mum got me a ds around the time that game came out

I think ‘Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land’ emulated on a psp. My mom (my dad to some extent but not nearly as much) introduced me to gaming, so I started pretty young. Thus it’s hard to say it’s just been so long.
