The first video game you remember playing?

I feel the same about games I used to beat easily in the past.
I had time and patience (and not a lot of choice) so I played Contra a lot, now I am too spoiled for choice to grind until I get good enough again ::cirnoshrug

Yes, I do think lack of choice was the prime factor that made us both good at (and tolerant with) nail bitingly hard games in the past.

Had to of been Dynasty Warriors 4.
I remember it so fondly. Hours, and hours, and hour spent. It gave me my first blue-light induced headache. It was the exact push I needed to know I loved video games. To this day, I still play it from time to time. Some character bios and lore are just clung to my mind like honey.
I play just about every Warriors entry still, regardless of series. Recently tried Gundam! And was- underwhelmed, but y'know they can't all be winners-

It's curious (and good) that people are different. The Gundam ones are one of the few I actually find fun.

GRRR!! NO, I CAN'T STAND OTHER OPINIONS!!!! ECHO MINE EXCLUSIVELY!!!!

seriously though-
I'm just not a fan of Gundam at all. Robot-y, mechanic-y, y-y stuff like that has never interested me too much. So it was only natural the game about it didn't get me either. Perhaps I'll try it again sometime. Just to make sure I do/don't like it.

Hahah.
Well, see, I'm on he opposite side of the spectrum and that pushed me to like it. I do love my mecha action.

That's the same reason I haven't played Front Mission.

No need to say anything... 😂

My first active memory is always Spy Hunter. Always so frakking bad at it, but I kept playing because it was such a cool looking game.

Mr. Do! on the Colecovision when I was around 3 or 4. My mums mate gave it to us, sadly we don't own it anymore.

One of the earliest video games I remember playing as a kid was Killer Instinct Gold. I would pick Combo, and I would just crouch punch Orchid in Practice Mode. It felt like I had my first video game crush back then.

Not one particular game but memories like this
arcade-games.jpg

I grew up down the New Jersey Shore, there were SO many arcades there back in the day you wouldn't know where to go.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, playing it with my sister. I think that was the only game we had on Sega Genesis that only my sister may know where that console is now.
I also remember the rest of my family playing darts, as my sister and I played Sonic 2.

Super Mario World or Sonic 2, we got these games at the same time(one at home, one at my grandma's who was right across the street) so I'm not sure which I played first. There were a handful of Atari and arcade games I played before but I don't remember enough to say what games they were.

Friday 13 because I vividly remember getting the shit scared out of me and running to my parents in the living room ::sadkirby I never played it again. I think I played super mario, rad racer or excitebike a little before this game (had those at same time), but I am pretty sure Friday 13 is my first gaming memory ::sadkirby How sad is that?

Damn this thread... Now I'm playing it again to prove something I guess: it would be cathartic to beat the first game I can remember. While the game doesn't scare me anymore, it pisses me off, jason is kicking my ass ::angrygenjin

It was either Roland on the ropes, Roland in the caves or Jet Set Willy. I loved the Moonlight Sonata of Jet Set Willy, Haunting. Early 90's Amstrad,Commodore,Spectrum era. Someone should have tried to recreate Lord's of Midnight game from that era in the last couple of decades. Missed opportunity.

First video game I remember playing was Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. I was about 3 years old, and I kept trying to go left XD

It's probably not the first game I played but the first game I can remember playing was either Yoshi's Island (SNES) or the Duck Hunt/SMB combo cart for NES.

Probably not the actual first games I ever played but the earliest games I can remember playing were Rival Schools on the PS1 and Splatterhouse 3 on the Genesis. Which probably weren't the best games for a 3 year old to be playing.
