Star Fox is back!

I though it was a new Star Fox but its actualy a remake of 64.
Remake of a remake of a remake actually.

Sorry nintendo, your gonna need to do more than this to appease star fox fans, they haven't had a legitimate completely new star fox game since assault, since the wii-u game was also a remake of 64.

Here's an idea: Do a Virtual Racing Flat-out style remastered of the first two SNES, would look gorgeous as hell!
While I wouldn't mind it I think SNES Starfox is too limited and flat textured vertices are too niche for the public.

The Wii U game is more like a reboot.

And Assault had many flaws. In fact after the end of the story there is 0 thing to do with the story because Andross and the Queen are defeated for good.

I mean... he's a bird, he should have avian features.
I hate the Hyper-realistic style! That's all! I prefer the StarFox's Zero artstyle
Also telling this to someone with an Avian fursona is kinda funny!

I'm not surprised. Star Fox 64 was always the most popular and beloved game in the series. I'd love a completely new entry, but if it's what it takes to bring Star Fox back, I'll take it. I hope the sequel to this game, if it actually happens, will completely ignore post-Star Fox 64 games, because fuck them.

Yes, I think Star Fox 64 was the last good Star Fox game. How could you tell? ::goblingrin

Fair! But I have seen quite a number of indie titles however that ape the visuals of SF and early 3D Polygonal graphics. Always found them rather charming

I played Star Fox 2 for the first time last night because of the hype for the new game. What an interesting game.. Not very good, but definitely interesting.

If they do another modern SF, it would be cool to see a more open, strategy-esque game like that be made at some point. That game was definitely ambitious. Anyone else played it?

For what it is, SF 2 is very impressive, but a lot of the airwing levels where it transforms are kind of crap

Well, that's the thing, an indie title sold at a steep price filling a niche userbase isn't the same matter as a game that aims to have newer fans and is sold at a higher price.

People would never spend 40-50 bucks on a low poly game the same way some refuse to buy a 2D game at a higher price than 20.

Starfox 2 always felt more like an experimental spin-off at its core than a sequel.

I'm glad Starfox 64 hasn't shoehorned a radically different gameplay style.

Command and Zero did what not to do with the series... (well, Command had the excuse of being a smaller scaled handheld game so I can see it as a spin-off and Starfox Guard was a neat add-on).

I'm thinking about powering through those two games before the new one comes out. I have them, I've just not gotten to them yet.

I secretly have always been drawn to Star Fox Zero. It's clunky controls intrigue me. Might need to replace the antenna on my WiiU gamepad before I play it though, it struggles to keep a connection. It's kept me from playong my WiiU for years.

I actually like the character designs, the problem is that it's another damn remake.

Also, the personality feels off. With the early polygonal 3D graphics and the compressed voices your brain could fill in the parts that hardware limitations couldn't achieve.

They did my boy dirty he sounds like a theater kid and looks like an asshole.

I've warmed up to the designs now. I think my initial shock was due to whiplash since right before they revealed the new looks, they first showed Fox from the Mario movie lol

After having some time to take it all in, I'm totally fine that they chose not to go with a cartoon look. Most Nintendo games have the cartoon/artsy look and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with that (nor nothing wrong with the previous Star Fox designs) I'm also okay with Nintendo trying to make this series stand out more by having a contrasting look compared to their other franchises. They are clearly going for less cute/kawaii and more of a gritty dark look.

Its visually different from anything else they have (Metroid being the only other Nintendo franchise that has this type of look) and I'm all for it now.

That said, if they are going to go this route, I hope they don't hold back.
I want the final form of Andross to look terrifying!

So people don't like this game? I think it's pretty good!

The controls surprised me, it feels pretty good to steer with the stylus. Also maybe I only think this because I just played SF2, but I really love the strategy gameplay. Feels like this is a full send on that concept.

Having a lot of fun, honestly. Keep having to retry missions, and the difficulty is really nice.

Zelda went both the cartoon and realistic way so I don't know why Starfox cannot do the same.

I think I'd be more forgiving of the art style, which I found ugly but not repulsive (in the same way a game like Borderlands is), if this wasn't as pointed out before a remake of a remake of a remake that also has a remaster on the 3DS and another remake on the Wii U. I guess I have to give them kudos for "only" charging $50 digital, which is incredibly un-Nintendolike for 2026, but it's still a very underwhelming announcement for a console with such a barren release schedule. Maybe the Ocarina of Time remake will be cooler. Inshallah.

Until we see some gameplay demo or trailer i will be cautious, but on the bright side, Welcome back Fox

I don't think there's a single thing I want less from Nintendo than a OOT remake.

Absolutely not.
I'm not chomping at the bits for an OoT but I think it's an interesting prospect. OoT3D was the perfect remake (remaster?) so I think they've earned a full-fledged remake

The one that truly needs a remake is Adventure of Link, or the Oracle Duology
Agreed on both accounts

Oracle duology remake would be pretty cool. Makes a lot more sense than doing OOT, but of course OOT would sell more.

I really think there's a secret sauce to the N64 Zelda era that can't be remade. They tried already, and failed, at least in my eyes. Those 3DS versions aren't bad per-se, but they lost all their soul.
Compare that to the other Grezzo Zelda projects that came after. Echoes of Wisdom is an interesting and unique original title, albeit with some flaws. And Link's Awakening remake... I have the original as either my third or fourth favorite game in the series. Easily my #1 2D Zelda. Even still, there's parts of the remake that I feel capture the soul of Link's Awakening better than original could.

I just have zero faith that the same can be done for N64 Zelda. Plus there's SO much baggage. And lord knows they'll keep the awful boss tweaks they did for Majora's if they go on to remake that too.
I seriously hope the remake project is a fake leak. I don't want it to happen.
