Star Fox is back!

The one that truly needs a remake is Adventure of Link, or the Oracle Duology
Or a link to the past, though it holds up well as it is.
If we're talking about nintendo properties, what nintendo REALLY needs to revive is F-Zero.

This looks good so far! I have to admit, at first I didn't like the designs, but now I'm warming up to them ::heart I would've loved a new game thoo, but maybe if this one does good they'll make a proper sequel? Here's to hoping that happens!!

My personal hot take about the new art style is that it's not the worst thing in the world. You could be a smartypants and say that they're really just returning to the series roots full sail by copying the realism used in Star Fox SNES's box art. Either way, it's something fresh to look at for a series that's been pretty samey. As for being SNES/64 again, they're doing that because it's the safest. I don't blame people for disliking the idea of playing those games with a fresh coat of paint.

Even a HD port of GX with online is fine to me.

Do you think it's also because of people saying that "Nintendo is always doing kiddy cartoony looking games" so they went full realism for that one?

Honestly, it could be possible to extent with how most recent Switch 2 sellers are things like Pokopia and Mario Kart. You could be onto something there. It's also possible that they're trying to use Star Fox as a system showcase in a subtle kind of way like they did with the series before. (SNES showing off the FX Chip and 64 using the new Rumble Pak)

I'm more excited for a StarFox 64 remake than an Ocarina of Time remake. Not because StarFox 64 needed a remake (definitely didn't), but I'm just happy for anything StarFox at this point (seriously its been 10 years).

But unlike StarFox, the Zelda series has had steady releases, so the idea of Ocarina of Time, which is still a wonderful game warts and all, getting a remake seems like a wasted opportunity when The Adventures of Link would be such a better candidate for getting a (3D) remake!

I say screw a 3D remake of Zelda II, do a full on metroidvania.

Get an indie dev like Team Cherry or Motion Twin to turn it into a proper modern 2D hit.

Like I said in one of my posts in my profile when the game got announced, I really do think that the game is gonna sale. And the bit of prologue? Perfect. As far as I know, the dub (yes, I'm Italian and they dubbed it) sounded really really promising. Can't wait to play it (if I ever get a Switch 2), or see others play it, since i DEVOURED the 3DS version. So many memories built on that game man.

Maybe the mouse mode?

With Mario Kart and Kirby Air Riders (and Sonic CrossWorlds) it may be too risky to bring back F-zero when the antigrav racing genre is niche and that the casual racers are a bit saturated nowadays.

And to be fair we got Ocarina of Time styled Zelda games for almost two decades between 1998 and 2017 where Breath of the Wild has changed the formula (which still retains elements of it like the mandatory dungeons to normally complete the game).

Even more recently with how Twilight Princess took the majority of OoT's structure in a more modern game in 2006 then 2016 on the Wii U.

Starfox fans are starved (especially with how Zero was underwhelming) whereas Zelda fans got a ton of games between 2016 and 2026.

Either them or the people behind Monster Boy.

GREAT!!! Now can he go back to whatever rock he's been hiding under
for the last 30 years.

Sure, this is peak gameplay alright. And don't give me no mode 7 horse apples.

I don't know, whatever BS the furry fanboys rave about.
Starfox used the SuperFX chip which was different from the built-in Mode 7. SNES Starfox was rough on the edges but Starfox 64/Lylat Wars took everything good from it and made them greater (with more branching paths, better level design and better bosses).

People that like the game aren't necessarily "furry fanboys".

I think Bubsy 3d was a better game.
You're joking, right?

Man brother, we are having a rough morning together :loldog .
I am partially joking. They pretty much look and play the same,
but Busby is much more irritating than fox. And I like the fox
less than I do sonic.

Star Fox 64 was the first game I bought for myself when I was a kid. I first saw it (and the n64 in general) at my cousin's house and instantly became obsessed (it was also my first exposure to video games that weren't education PC games like Reader Rabbit and Math Blaster). I remember going to Funcoland with my mom and getting the cartridge. I still have it and play it too. This might be the thing that makes me get a Switch 2 before the price increase.

Nice try but even the graphics reduction made for the split screen mode in StarFox64 look better than Bubsy3D.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty confident that there will be at least a few surprises and hopefully a few secrets as well. But I do think that only 3 maps (each with a specific mode potentially locked to each map) will hurt the longevity of the multiplayer, but I understand MP isn't the focus of this game. Hopefully you can at least play the other modes on all maps for some variety.

For going through the trouble to give me a technical explanation that I don't even understand, when I was just being a ding-dong.

Nah I was also partially joking. I mean look at how pointy the StarFox team look in split screen mode. Everyone is comprised of like 10 triangles lol No one looks particularly good in those screenshots, including sir Bubsy.
I do like Bubsy the character though. But I only played the genesis game and while its no Mario or Sonic, I had some fun moments (along with controlling throwing frustration).

If this is true, YOU were the ding-dong, not me. I don't even like any of these games.
But Bubsy is the WORST. Honestly, I don't remember how I ended up in the thread in
the first place, it must of been one of those mornings where I wake up from a dream
feeling like Max Payne...

I'm hyped to see Ex-Zodiac come out, the possibility of seeing a decompilation of SNES Starfox and perhaps seeing more indie rail shooters coming as well.

On the other hand I feel nothing about Fur Squadron nor Wild Blue Skies (despite the later being made by Argonaut devs).

I forgot about Whisker Squadron because those devs decided to turn it into a Roguelite... Why?
I used to like it because of the demo

This does seem promising, one thing to appreciate about “-likes” is how they’d remove some more nuanced mechanics in favor of making a certain subgenre more approachable, kinda like why modern day vania-likes feel more simplified compared to the old classic ones.

Which is good in my case as I struggled to get into Star fox, but wanna finish one anyways.

Metroidvanias are supposed to make you feel weak in the start so upgrades are more compelling to get and to use.

Go for the N64 one (through Starship) because the SNES one has a low framerate, Adventure and Assault are mostly on foot too.

How Dare you sully the great word "METROVAINIA"
by putting it in a space tod thread. I'm calling Reinhardt
to take care or this!!

My only hope for this new StarFox is that after Lylat wars, I would like them too actually move forward with the series, designs are gonna take a while to get use to...esp compared to the Mario Gaxlay movie and Zero's designs.
