Star Fox is back!

Oh shit! They went and made a Fantastic Mr. Star Fox game after all this time!

Not sure how I feel about the game overall, but the VO and character designs are rough. I don't understand the trend of making animal characters look like actual animals. Disney and their live-action remakes making the cartoon animal characters look like real animals is cursed. This looks like it follows more in those footsteps than anything that would normally come out of Japan.

Yeah, see, I thought that too. I don't know what everyone's complaining about with the graphics, maybe it isn't just Nintendo that forgot about the SNES Star Fox, but the fans too.

Okay, if it's genuinely being priced this low, somethings up. This might not even be a proper game release, and more of a test for something like Zone of the Enders or Battle Fantasia. This might explain (but not justify) making it another Star Fox remake, since it would be a safe investment (with an already established framework to base assets and design on).

These two things do not look the same. They're not even in the same style.
I would have taken a puppet style over what we're getting here. Those puppets look so much better than this. And the characters are all irritating from what I saw in the Direct.

Ufff.... I dont know.

On one hand:
LETS FUCKING GOOOO!!! STARFOX!!!!

On the other hand:

Ewww... what did they do my boys? I know the intention: replicate the SNES OG StarFox, but thats not the more popular one. SF64 didnt have that 'realism', so why not go with that or just the Smash bros style?

And, and this is a big one, why do we have the so call 'millenial writing'? Didnt they get the memo from Metroid Prime 4?

From the few cutscenes we could see I got worried by the scene where Fox meets Coronel Peppers and he is like 'Why so nervous? Did the monkey steal you toy? I just so happen to be around and wanted to say hi'.

Or when they enter Corneria and they changed the line of Falco from "This is horrible" to "Wow, they really trashed the place!" on a almost mockingly tone, rather than the grim one of the original.

Or Sipply having an autism attack of "Did you know that CRT actually draw lines but your eyes actually pair the recent line with the last one making a full picture?!" and everyone just ignore him because he is the geeky archetype of millenial writing.

I do admit that the Prologue scene, looked really nice in comparison, but I feel like they will just screw the Fox team. I hope Im wrong, but there are some warnings on my opinion.

Still, kind of sad. I should be jumping and doing everything I can to get an Switch 2, but beating SF64 again and the heavy prices and scammy practices of Nintendo just make me said 'I pass'.

What I find really wild about this announcement, is that everyone seems to have missed the part where Andros completed his doctorate, and got his PHD. He's Doctor Andros now! No more just being a giant space head, he's moved up in the world! Congratulations Doctor!

Just the fact that it's a Star Fox 64 remake kills any modicum of interest for me.
Wasn't Star Fox Zero also a remake of 64, and 64 itself was what could be said to be a rehash of the first game, just in 3D. It is theoretically possible to make a Star Fox game and not have it be a remake of 64, though it might remain in the realm of theoretical possibility for some time longer.

Yes Star Fox is back! For the fifth time the same game is back!
What I noticed the most about these DLSS5 ON looking ass characters is that Falco has regular bird legs. Not only does it look gross but everyone knows that they had to cut their legs off at the knee and replace them with cybernetic prosthetic to withstand the G-Forces of the Arwing in case the G-Diffuser should ever fail to operate.

On the one hand, I actually like the new designs.

On the other hand, I don't want to be dragged out into the public square and have rocks thrown at me.
Yes, looking at your pfp it's pretty clear you would ::star-war

oh boy, more remakes. my favourite.
Because you started that setence with "oh boy" I read it in Donald's voice.

What kind of horrible luck a franchise needs to have so the only things that don't use the same storyline as the first game get 1)canned for 30 years until a retro revival console releases / 2) gets shoehorned into another ip / 3) become the remains of a canned arcade version / 4) gets screwed up by shite nds controls / 5) literally just a crossover in a failed toys2life ubisoft game (all of these suffering some degree of defect and lost potential)

This would be okay if Zero hadn't tried to be a reimagination of 64 and imploded and leave the franchise in limbo.

Y'now maybe Captain Falcon should be on Mario Movie 3, that way we would get a 4k hyper realistic remake of F-Zero X...

Day one purchase for me. AAA rail shooter god bless.

Seeing some reactionary disgust at the new character designs. They look great to me, I like that they're a little TOO realistic.
The gameplay looks real smooth, and I wanna try the mouse and libble rabble modes. Also really like how Nintendo is pricing their games more fairly recently, make it a lot easier to opt in.

I thought for a second they were gonna say Assault was coming to NSO. I hope they put it on there, Assault is so underdiscussed. Fantastic game.

Lylat Wars is the best Starfox game therefore this explains why they wouldn't make it otherwise.

Remember that Adventure is technically not a real Starfox game (since it was a different project with a reskin) and that Assault, while it had good ideas, was less interesting to replay and Andross is still the most iconic villain.

Would you prefer an HD port of the 3DS version of Lylat Wars? A 60 FPS port of SNES Starfox or a HD Assault instead (or even Zero minus the mandatory gyro and touch controls)? That would've been worse imo.

Please stop with that theory that has not only been debunked by Nintendo themselves and since there's a G-diffusion system that entire "cut the legs so the G-force would still have their blood go upward since the legs are no longer there" is no longer valid.

SF64 didnt have that 'realism'
It kinda did (for 1997) with pre-rendered 3D models for the dialogues.

Of course it looks fine today but Starfox always had that tech demo-esque feel.

Yeah, why try new things when you can just have the thing you already like over and over again. You’ll never get tired or sick of it right?

None, I’d rather have a new game.

When they tried new things we got Starfox Command and Star Fox Adventure which were arguably inferior (when it came to the Rail shooting levels). Even Assault which had good ideas ended up lacking many of the qualities of 64 (like the forced on ground missions and only one path for the entire playthrough which makes it even more repetitive than SNES Starfox which had at least three).

Trying to make different things ended up bring us inferior products (like Zero and the Wii U tablet controls that nobody asked for).

None, I’d rather have a new game.
Aside from Lylat Wars all new games were either not selling well or were poorly received.

If you were a company you would play the safe card instead of trying some weird experiment that fans never asked for and that newcomers wouldn't be interested in because it's just an arcady rail shooter.

Hell: Zelda fans want to see OoT back with some twist (like Twilight Princess) or Mario games (Wonders is using the same formula as the older titles).

i think theres a good chance it won't. given fox appearing in the mario galaxy movie introduced a lot of people to the franchise and the fact that the switch 2 is doing fine sales wise
Metroid dread sold well and prime 4 was dead before being born

Cool idea on paper, however actually existing and watching that reveal unfold... I dunno about this one tbh. Twin Snakes vibes.
I kind of see your point but I find it funny that people criticized MGS TTS for having over the top cutscenes when MGS is supposed to be over-the-top as a whole.

im still convinced the game was just a VR Simulation for Raiden retelling the events of the first game

Perhaps it's a good way to explain why it's the MGS2 gameplay system yet there's also a theory telling us that Snake Eater is also a VR Simulation retelling of the genesis of the franchise (for Solid Snake) somewhere between 2 and 4...

Fan theories are fine (especially for a massive IP like MGS) yet I also feel like none of that is canon and is just a way to cope out about The Twin Snakes not being "canon" (in the way that the events of the game never actually happened).
