Is this technically possible to make the air dash having the Adventure games behaviour?

In Sonic 2006 onwards instead of doing a natural arc it became more like an horizontal line then dropping like a stone while killing any momentum.

I cannot explain it properly sorry.
No, I get what you’re saying. I think it could be possible! It would be an edit to the character controller though, which hasn’t been tried yet I don’t think?

The air dash from Adventure was very much replaced by the Air Boost with the boost formula, but I get that it’s very different and very easy to overshoot stuff because it’s so quick.

Small fun fact that many people know, but not everyone! Air dash is actually in the Advance games, specifically Advance 2! The game never tells you (aside from probably the manual), but you can perform it by double tapping the direction you wish to dash while jumping. It’s a separate movement option from the trick system and can be useful in some boss fights to quickly regain speed after hitting the enemy.

Personally I'd love to see other Sonic games getting decompilations/recompilations (especially those that never saw a modern PC port like Heroes which is stuck in an older DRM locked DVD or Riders that also has a DRM).

You mean this Sonic PC Collection which is DRM free that was released only in Australia?

Deep lore stuff, this release. It’s cool that it exists, but it was only released in Australia, as you said, and isn’t as supported as the emulated releases that fans have worked with for years.

Yea but you can just download it and play it on your PC.

I've learnt about this thanks to Sonic Retro (which is one of the most reliable wiki for Sonic despite some issues).

It's quite nice to see two major mainline games + a nice spinoff + a retro compilation on PC.

If we ignore 2006 and Unleashed (and SA2) we got the biggest compilation possible.

There was even this special edition with a mouse and a pad:

Come to think about it, why we never got Sonic Adventure 2 physically on PC until the Steam Release (based on the HD version on PS360) while Heroes and SADX got one (well, technically they were made around the same year and was a Gamecube port of the game instead of the original Dreamcast version).

Shadow The Hedgehog was the first mainline Sonic game to not get a PC port (which started with Sonic & Knuckles Collection in '97) and because of the poor sales of 2006 they've basically shut down any PC port up until Generations.

In the same vein we never got the DS port of Unleashed because Dimps (the team behind handheld Sonic games) was busy with the Wii and PS2 version of the game

Sonic Colours DS was also the first handheld game to be based on a home console release since Sonic 2 on the Gamegear (despite that it was based on the Master System version which isn't like the Genesis one).

You ever just boot up Sonic Adventure PURELY to mess around in the stages as Sonic? I know I do! I often play all the way through Speed Highway just to get to the “At Dawn” section and mess around in this little town.

No ranking system to think about messes with me a bit in Asventure 1, because I’ve always been a fan of the time attack/score attack element of later 3D efforts (and the prior NiGHTS into Dreams), so this is how I tend to justify not having it in Adventure’s case.
(I know there are the missions you can do, but they’re not the same as the ranking system.)

Sonic's part is the best after all.

Personally I couldn't care less about the ranking system in a Sonic game because I always assumed that time was the most important about a speed-focused series and that a score system is a relic of an era.

Mario games even dropped scoring with 3D and Wonders.

Nights has a score because it was purely made with arcade in mind, Sonic games post-3D are more story/level focused.

Now someone can mod in a drop shadow for the Werehog. TO HELL WITH THOSE TUBES IN EGGMAN LAND!!!

I'm surprised they never did that...

I can skip some of the level but I agree.

I think it’s kinda amazing how unleashed is basically 4 different games (ps2, ps3, Java and DS). I kinda miss this era of gaming although admittedly it did leave me utterly confused as to why people were hyping Spider-Man Web of Shadows. Little did I know, I played the weird little side scroller while everyone else played the open world ps3 game. I kinda hated how often that happened with games I grew up with.

I'm wondering if someone could actually make the Java Phone version of Unleashed for PC.

It's like the missing link between Rush Adventure and Colours DS as 2.5D Boost games would no longer exist after Generations 3DS.

The early to mid 7th gen epoch was an era with many cross-gen and handheld for the same game:

It was especially for licensed games such as The Simpsons Game having a different cover per version.

And even some third party game (like Fifa 14 on every PlayStation consoles except the first back when it got released on the PS4).

I like the ps3 version of uleashed, but it does run like shit lol. its poorly optimized, but everyone knows that by now, but its not like a deal breaker, the game is still playable, i dont give a shit about its performance.

So basically, we finally got our (unofficial) PC port of the game.

As long as you're owning the actual game on the Xbox 360 (or bought it on the Microsoft Store).
I ain't buying the 360 version.

PS3 Uneashed is less than ideal, but it'll have to do.

Love this! What other Games had been Recompiled so far? Wish Lost Odyssey gets the same treatment. I really wanna play it.

I got this when it was given away for free. It's not my favorite JRPG, but glad I finally got the chance to play it.

My biggest question is how a game that's 15+ years old look graphically better than most modern AAA games with 10x the budget?

You don't "have" to buy the 360 version, you just have to "obtain" it.

This version seems to be the definitive version of the game, taking what's good about both versions while adding all the benefits of a pc version.

As you wish, I plan on buying it on the Microsoft store solely to own it legally.

Because Unleashed is way smaller than many Open World AAA so they can spend as much time and as many ressources for a better result, like fully filling a small cup compared to filling a jerrycan with the same amount.

And the art style. I still find that Mario Sunshine still looks great even for a 6th gen game thanks to that.

Sorry but that doesn't hold water for me, while yes open world= more performance needed, even skyrim with mods from say 2012 looks better than most modern day games, i've said it before and i'll say it again, gaming has become a unoptimized mess, heck look at gta5, as much as i may hate gta the game looks amazing even now with no mods, yet monster hunter wilds, a game that came out this year, looks far worse imo, while also somehow running worse than crysis did when it came out.

I swear, UE5 was a mistake, so was ray tracing.

My issue I got with Skyrim is that the art style made the colours dimmer and grey (I know it's fitting for a north area inspired by Vikings and Scandinavia) compared to the almost fairytale-like Cyrodiil and Vvardenfell.

I do agree about how UE5 was a mistake next to RTX.

Oh don't get me wrong, skyrim looks like garbage without modding, but that wasn't really my point.

I love Frontiers, but it deffo feels like a test rather than a full-on triple A sonic game.

It just feels like it lacks full commitment to the new style with all those old levels. A more fleshed out version with more depth to the main gameplay and story could have been really interesting, but that's like saying "if X sonic game has been different it would have been good" so not sure if it counts as a recommendation.

Since the first ever trailer I always felt the "tech demo" aspect of the game (especially with the environment that weren't colourful while even Adventure had contrasting ones).

The Cyberspace levels had that feel of not being fully committed in doing an entirely new game.

That’s neat but they should’ve added Rouge nude smh

I really gotta do that last update.

And honestly even as a solo characters it's a genuinely good hack with the first two games combined.
