Anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO

Bandai Namco officially revealed the next major step for its legendary mecha franchise ahead of its monumental 50th anniversary at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, currently taking place at the San Diego Convention Center from Thursday, Jul 23 to Sunday, July 26, in California.

Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, a brand-new Gundam title currently set for a 2027 release, will be the official entry point for a brand-new timeline that will expand through multiple new projects across different media, such as anime and video games.

Gundam is teaming up with director Kenji Kamiyama (Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) for Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO. This brand new anime is set to arrive next year and rather than focusing on the war between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon, like so many of its predecessors, XARX-ZERO will explore entirely new territory for the franchise. Taking place in a universe dubbed “A.A.,” which stands for “After Apocalypse,” the anime series will act as a prequel to the upcoming video game, Gundam: Rogue Orbit.

One thing is for sure as a huge mecha fan i am so excited about this and the vibes that is emitting, can't wait.

I'm very interested in how it is! Gundam X is one of my favorite series so seeing another post apocalyptic story is interesting

I'm definitely vibing with the bandaged arm and cape, looks like it has Crossbone aesthetics, when what I really wanted out of this announcement was something in the ballpark of an F90 or Crossbone adaptation, the other arm worries me though. I feel like there's someone behind the Reconguista designs in this too, or is that just me?
