There's more than 1 movie?
Wait, those are a thing?I like the classic Sonic games, mostly, but nowadays I don't really think I could play their vanilla versions anymore.
I really prefer playing versions like Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic 3 A.I.R.. Basically decomps with mods and widescreen support. Even spent last afternoon setting them all up on my Retroid. Between those and Sonic Mania on it, I'm very happy with my end result.
After seeing the love and attention that got put into that fan remake of Sonic Triple Trouble, I home someone does the same for Sonic Chaos, that one was always my favorite of the 8-bit Sonic games.
At least The second Mario Movie is releasing next year. This release date is too long to wait
yeah i will wait for thatAt least The second Mario Movie is releasing next year.
They'll just put it into another shit Shining RPG, instead. ? ?Yes keep milking it and put all the profits into shining force 4 sega pls

You're saying it like there ever was a good Sonic game. They are really banking a lot on this it seems. I don't hate the movies per se, but I feel the resources would be better spent making better Sonic games.
Sonic 3 A.I.R. and sonic 3 Complete are both better than sonic 3 & knuckles, which of those 2 you think is better varies between people, i prefer complete for example.Wait, those are a thing?
I've been meaning to replay the trilogy and this is really eye-opening. Thanks so much!
i disagree. sonic has survived as long as he has on the characters and music. even the games that people rave about still get critiques and criticism from those who like it.They are really banking a lot on this it seems. The fact Sega is so inconsistent with games is all the more reason why they need to get their priorities straight. Regardless of mass media recognition, games are still the core of IP, at least that's my take.i disagree. sonic has survived as long as he has on the characters and music. even the games that people rave about still get critiques and criticism from those who like it.
sega never seems to stick with an idea or game engine for more than 1-2 games before bailing on it. even when it gets lots of praise, they drop the idea.
the cartoons seem to be far more universally liked and well received on average by anyone who watches them. i'm not a big sonic fan, but i did watch some of sonic x and sonic boom; the later seems to be rather high quality despite the tie-in game.
it makes more sense to make more cartoons or movies, than more games.
yeah, they need consistency. that's why mario and mega man still hold up in quality and popularity: consistent game play. The fact Sega is so inconsistent with games is all the more reason why they need to get their priorities straight. S3C is arguably better for devices that can only run emulators (like a linker for the DS or a dedicated emulation machine).Sonic 3 A.I.R. and Sonic 3 Complete are both better than Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which of those 2 you think is better varies between people, I prefer complete for example.
The biggest problem i have with A.I.R. is the lack of a prototype stage planning layout, aka flying battery after carnival night for example.S3C is arguably better for devices that can only run emulators (like a linker for the DS or a dedicated emulation machine).
S3AIR is great on PC and more advanced mods that the Genesis couldn't have handled. It's good that both are present.
Sonic 3&K vanilla is still a competent game (and doesn't really suffer too much from the later levels being a difficulty spike).
As for romhacks I think I'll always go by S3C, Sonic Classic Heroes for 1&2 and 3D Blast DX. There's no significant Knuckles Chaotix, Mean Bean Machine nor Spinball hacks yet...
Honestly, while I understand that FBZ happening between CNZ and ICZ was the planned order (almost a Director's Cut of 3&K) I think that it's not that big of a deal, I tried that once but I think that the difficulty curve of the game makes it better with the release order. The biggest problem i have with A.I.R. is the lack of a prototype stage planning layout, aka flying battery after carnival night for example.
I generally prefer Sonic 3 AIR, since I really do like the widescreen support, and it does have the drop dash, which nowadays I almost always want in my 2D Sonic lol.Sonic 3 A.I.R. and sonic 3 Complete are both better than sonic 3 & knuckles, which of those 2 you think is better varies between people, i prefer complete for example.
Widescreen and drop dash are perfect additions to the classic series indeed.I generally prefer Sonic 3 AIR, since I really do like the widescreen support, and it does have the drop dash, which nowadays I almost always want in my 2D Sonic lol.
Though I do have Sonic 3 Complete on my little retro emulation handheld. Sonic 3&K is just a fun time all around.
In order to use the peel-out you have to unlock 13 achievements first. For some reason I could never figure out the drop dash in Mania, so I don't really care if a game has it or not. I'm more concerned over having a peel-out, which I couldn't find the option for in A.I.R.
I'll be honest: I hate options being locked behind achievements. In order to use the peel-out you have to unlock 13 achievements first.
They did similar with the drop dash, but that one was at least 7 achievements.
I just messed with the config file to brute force it unlocked. Though I imagine you can just get a full save and that'd be easier.
