Soul Hackers is a great game with an incredible soundtrack, fantastic art direction and character designs, good visuals and graphics, and good gameplay as well.

Our collective trip to Saturn will never end.

I found out recently that, in many southeast Asian countries, the Saturn was packaged with its VCD card and was marketed as a high end VCD player as well as a console. Makes total sense, and makes me want to check out the VCD market (assuming they’re dirt cheap nowadays) to see if there’s anything I’d like to watch via the POWER of SEGA Saturn.

late reply to the soul hackers discussion above but how badly did you all pee your pants when you saw the natural born killers movie poster in six's room
i got up and backflipped three times

I only played the 3DS version (is there a translation for the SAT version?) but I must agree, NEMISSA BEST GIRL

I need to play more Saturn games but I will be the one who goes to bat for Sonic 3D Blast. Nowhere near my favorite Sonic game but I don't think it gets enough credit for laying some groundwork for Adventure. IMO the Saturn version is worth going for over the more accessible Genesis version for looking so much prettier + having wonderful special stages.

I may be the biggest hater of Sonic 3D Blast (I like the MD OST, though...) but the japanese cover of the Saturn version goes HARD

I completely understand why people can't stand it, I just can't bring myself to hate it despite some rough levels. Love the JP cover as well

I loved Saturn as a kid, it had a cool ring and a cool name to go a-long with it!

As someone who grown up, I Earth has taken up that mantle but I’d still say Saturn holds a special place in my heart.

improvisation is an expensive mistake

My people...

I was always a Sega guy growing up in the 90s. It was interesting being in the minority. I adored my SegaCD and Sega Saturn. They are such great time capsules. Not just for video games, but for anime (Sakura Taisen), but also for movies (Street Fighter The Movie The Game lol..), and weird experimentations (Nights)

I have I think 3 Saturn consoles? My original that no longer works, one I later bought to replace it that does still work, and one a friend gifted to me that doesn't work so that I have spare parts or a refurbishment project if I'm ever in the mood. And thank god for emulation to finally be where it is with the Saturn because I'm afraid to use my one good console, lest I end up with 3 broken ones.. It seems like a very fragile machine. Though to be fair my original died because I spent 2 weekends in a row playing 12 hour sessions of Dragon Force and burned it up lol and now the disc itself is slightly warped from it

Only other things I could add to the conversation, though is mentioning Dark Savior (an RPG in the spirit of things like Landstalker and Alundra), and Legend of Oasis, the sequel to Beyond Oasis for the Genesis/MegaDrive

I didn't own Burning Rangers, and especially things like Bulk Slash or Sakura Wars as a kid. So it's been an absolute treat to finally run through these gems as an adult. And eventually I'll make time for Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force 2, and the other two Shining Force 3 chapters. I feel blessed to even have these options available lol and at some point I'd like to get a Saroo or something

I've been completely obsessed with the Saturn since learning about it years ago it's just a fascinating part of history to me. Magic Knight Rayearth remains one of my favs, also +1 on Soul Hackers, really wish the 3DS translation was playable on the Saturn version.

Slow battle loading aside, Albert Odyssey is one of the best Saturn RPGs. Good lord I miss Working Designs.

Mystaria: The Realms of Lore/Blazing Heroes was an ok early attempt in the 3D strategy RPG genre.

Dark Savior was pretty good, but at the same time some of the platforming will make you borderline do a Hulk controller smash.

For years I just admired the Saturn from afar because GAWD DAYUM is that white variant pretty! But just this year, I got back into gaming via Shmups, and wow the Saturn has so much to offer! Every game on it has such great vibes (atmosphere is a really underrated element of game design, I feel), it really feels like the Saturn wholely channels that mysterious, arty vibe I love when it so scantly appears on other systems.
...and why have we not more widely adopted this wonderful D-Pad?
Even my uber-hipster music player is Saturn themed!

I just need a Death Crimson HD remake. Don't change anything, don't make it anymore playable. Just put it in HD and on Steam pls.

The Saturn is my favorite game console, so I will post more about it later, but for now here are some games from my collection. I love all types of video games, but I always end up back at the Saturn after some time.
