I see a lot of players using this technique not just in Monster Hunter but in racing games and such, have you any experience with this form?

I used to do it all the time on my PSP, so much that I subconsciously still do it, even when not necessary. It was mostly because of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, but also the MGS games on PSP, especially Portable Ops, which was the shit and IS BETTER THAN PEACE WALKER PORTABLE OPS IS SO FUCKING GOOD

Really? I don't think I ever used "the claw" when playing souls games. ::thinking
You hold the controller like normal, thumbs on the sticks, and have a finger clawed over the buttons (usually covering the Circle/B and Cross/A buttons most of the time). This is how I've (and many others from what I've seen) always naturally taken to playing those games lol.

You're literally required to do this to play Dark Souls properly
💯
If you're playing sweaty PvP you need claw to cover dodge rolling whilst big T covers cam. You need to play without auto-lock on in order to mess up people's timing.

It can also speed up item use and stance swapping.

::warcraft-skeleton Now that I mention it, I only did real PVP in DS3 and with the whip, which made getting hit once a stun lock.

Yes and;
I right-hand claw with every Souls game. Quite comfy and effective!

Your gif reminds me of the movie from 1957 The Giant Claw

I have never cracked the timing on whips. I can figure out where the i-frames are for most weapons, but whips absolutely school me xD

😭😭😭😭😭 LVL 330 is nuts
But~! The whip was my go to for not only being an item no one bothered to use, but it also had bleed! Seeing people expect any other weapon but get the whip instead will always fill me with joy.

As someone 100% used to physical controllers, anytime i emulate games in my phone i have to do so when emulating GBA or PSP, especially in Trigger heavy games like Aria of Sorrow

Bleed is a killer! 🩸
I usually sacrifice weapon effects (and whole weapon classes) for a few extra points of base damage...what can I say? I like big bonks and when big number go up.

This is the closest I could get to looking like MGS1 Snake (I know I know, but I tried!) 🐍

Yes, mostly for Peace Walker on the PSP.
I also have a weird technique I use on the Switch 1 joyons when playing BOTW.
I hold the A button (mostly for running) with the top of my thumb and use the lower part of my thumb to use the left stick to move the camera around. I don't think I am the only one who does this, but I have never heard of this or have seen anyone mentioning this.
