FINALLY I TOUCHED WATER
After all this time adventuring he finally stop being a Weeb

I don't think a more structured approach is a bad thing, but I really think once you open the non-linear bag, it's hard to put the expectation-paste back in the tube.
I also don't think that a structured approach is a bad thing, but "structured" doesn't mean "linear", and I think that Zelda games are at their best when they're nonlinear but structured in that nonlinearity; similar to Metroid.

One of the things I loved about FF12 was occasionally having a random place you weren't supposed to be yet (I think there was a cave with some angry unicorns or something), and being able to walk in to a place that's 20 levels above...and possibly actually beat them. Sequence breaks and picking a fight with things bigger is always fun.

When i thought 2nd dungeon was bad

The water temple are super annoying, I hate those ice.

Reached the Palace of Winds and got the Roc's Cape. Since I have all the itens now, I spent some time cleaning up some cheevos

The kinstone fusion one will be annoying since I didn't make a checklist. I'm dreading the figurine one since its basically a gacha and its required to pull all 130 figurines to get all the heart pieces.

The no damage ones are a bit hard but doable after a few tries and a good startegy.

Finished the second dungeon yesterday. Haven't had much time to play but I'm hoping to get the swimming today so I can stop getting cucked by all this water everywhere. The animations in this game are really impressive, and I think it's the best looking Zelda game from this era. In particular the animations for Link and the hat who's name I forget are super expressive and cute. I'm falling in love with Zelda all over again, and might play the Oracle games right after this.

Well, fuck me with a cactus. I beat the first dungeon and was on my way to beating the second, forgot to save. And no i have to restart pretty much from the beginning
Yikes that's always awful. As for me I'm surprised this is just here i expected this to be an uber ultra secret but no you can just see the oracles for free after a certain amount of progression also damn there is so much shit to do in between the second and third dungeons.

I'm having a very weird experience because I've only played one 2D zelda (original NES), but I've played Blossom Tales 1 and 2. So as I'm playing through this new 2D Zelda game, I keep being reminded of the Blossom Tales games. The devs were unabashed in their attempts to make a Zelda homage, and apparently they nailed it if I'm playing Zelda and thinking about Blossom Tales. Anyone else here try Blossom Tales?

Never Heard of it

No progress today, but I figured out that I have no clue how to get to where I'm trying to go next. I want to go to Lake Hylia but it seems like I'm further roadblocked and Ezlo keeps implying that I'm supposed to go West to the green stone area but not only do I not want to do that but I can't figure out how to get into the Western Woods. I'll get by tomorrow probably, I don't want to speedrun this game or anything. I've been having a fine time just wandering around town and secret hunting with what few gadgets I've gotten.
I dunno, these Zelda games always make me feel stupid because I'll complete a dungeon within like, 30 minutes but then getting to the next one requires me to divine the magical single access point or cutscene transition that lets me get there when all of the other paths I know to take just don't work. I wish there were more mazes and fewer roadblocks.

Yeah the roadblock were the reason my younger self quits playing zelda midway

So just return Home and you'll get your answer. I also accidentally get it cuz i ran out of health and wanted to rest

@diapered I certainly don't think you should be discriminated against simply for being wasted while playing, so that makes it even better that our little hat tracker is there to tell you what you forgot...although they can't keep a record of all the stuff you did last night that you forgot. (sorry.)

Zelda, particularly the open world ones always tripped me up when I played them. I got hopelessly lost in OoT from forgetting what I was doing more or less. I don't really blame the game for that, there are just times where things can look and sometimes be pretty obtuse when you're just trying to "get to the next darn dungeon.". I haven't beat the second dungeon yet but it sounds like someone forgot to say "maybe you should go home". "don't wanna, got lots of money, I'm going to spend it, dangit."

So today I'm in the mines. That took a minute.
I have two thoughts.
The game kept speaking about "walls that look weird", except that, all the walls I blew up ddn't really look any different. Is my eyesight that bad that I can't tell a darn funny looking wall from a hole in the wall I just blew?

Second, no one told me Link gained the power of an ant to lift fifty times his size in Minnish form. I uh...I tried watering it from non-tiny form...that didn't work.

The thing that's tripping ME up (it's just standard videogame paranoia really) is that there are so many spots in this game that look like unmarked but perfectly bombable spots. Usually bombable walls look like rubble in a passageway and they're super obvious, but some places just look like they should have one. So before I ever got to the second dungeon I wasted all 10 of my bombs both opening normal ones and testing out various unmarked walls to try and see if this game even HAD unmarked bomb doors. Then I had to grind for rupees to buy more so I could get the bottle to water the seed and overall it just wasted a bunch of time.
I didn't find any unmarked doors, by the way.

I don't know if that's the case in Minish cap but in older Zelda games you could hit the walls with your sword by holding the attack button and breakable walls would sound different🤔

Just finished the first dungeon. I get the feeling that having to swap items is eventually going to be the death of me.

Welcome to Gameboy/GBA era Zelda, you'll get used (probably).

(This is also why I like LADX HD and the PC decomp of MC while expecting the Oracle games to get one as well).

In case you are fresh to begin, i recomend to skip these sidequest, believe me, a 100% is not worth your sanity:

The Cucoo delivery parts
All the Heart Pieces (A fragment and a whole Heart Container is only post game and stuck in the worst sidequest of any Zelda EVER)
And lastly: THE FIGURINE SIDEQUEST!

Trust me, you can beat the game just fine while forgetting that trio of despair exists and nobdy will leer at you for skipping them

I must have not been paying attention, I just use the poke test >_<

It does, but I don't think that is explained though which I found odd... But I might have missed something or wasn't paying attention again >_< Also, you can't poke with your sword until you get the spin attack which requires a separate item (lol, idk why) which is weird for me because I wanted to already start poking at every wall out of habit >_<

Anyway, back to the mines...

Why would they make a mine cart so violently fast O_o
