Yeah, if the next stages of challenge mode are even harder than the first one... Not so sure I can master this oneLast night I managed to grab the cheevo for the bad ending (unlock second landing zone and then spam "go to sunset" until day 30).
Also just got the trophy for the regular ending thanks to a save I had held on to from my previous playthrough at day 25 and 29/30 ship pieces.
But biggest ding was the "Allergic to blue" cheevo for nabbing all of the ship parts from the second location (Forest of Hope) without unlocking the blue Pikmin. Wasn't tough per se, but definitely required some unorthodox strategies. Glad to have gotten that one outta the way.
Now only have the cheevos for getting high scores in challenge mode and for beating the game with all 30 ship parts in 12 days or less...I have a feeling it's not gonna be a walk in the park for me. xD

How far into the game are you?I'm not sure how I feel about Pikim so far. I'm only an hour in and I'm....indifferent? I really wanna like the game, but I'm not sure it's my cuppa. Maybe I'll take a step back and read up on the game for a bit, and dive back in.
I remember feeling this type of feeling when I got into ICO before something just clicked.
I'm hoping it does so here, as I've heard nothing but good thing about the game.
If you want to get in the "mood" for Pikmin, I recommend watching these two short movies. They're just so cute and funny. They were made after Pikmin 2, so there are purple and white pikmin in them.I'm not sure how I feel about Pikmin so far. I'm only an hour in and I'm....indifferent? Don't feel too disheartened, as others have said; this game does have a bit of a learning curve to it seeing as there's really not much you can compare these games to and give yourself a point of reference, it's a very original and unique series. Since it's your first time playing; the biggest tips I can give is, and counterintuitive as this may sound, don't fret and stress too much over the time limit. Take your time, allow yourself to adjust to the game and you'll quickly realise the 30-day limit is more than enough time to get everything done.I'm not sure how I feel about Pikmin so far. It's not game breaking in the sense that it's impossible to beat the game, but it does make the game feel very frustrating and unfair at times since it's literally out of your control. Something as simple and necessary as building a bridge or killing an enemy can result in your pikmin randomly dying because of this glitch.Making some research i found about the fact the Wii version (the one i have) actually made something called "Crush glitch" more frequent, is that glitch game breaking or a simple annoyance?
Oh, so it's like if your villagers on a RTS suddenly dying while gathering wood or foodIt's not game breaking in the sense that it's impossible to beat the game, but it does make the game feel very frustrating and unfair at times since it's literally out of your control. Basically, yeah. Anytime your pikmin are between the ground and another object, they have a chance to just randomly die.Oh, so it's like if your villagers on a RTS suddenly dying while gathering wood or food

Yeah, can doYo @X y b e r - S k u ll did you say you have a Retro Achievements account? Can you drop the link? Would be cool to keep up with your progress towards the mastery.![]()

. Anyway, I'll try and start it up soon, for real this time.

Not sure how far in you are now, but the other biggest tip is try and get the radar as soon as possible. It's in the Forest of Hope area just past where you get the yellow pikmin for the first time and gives you access to the map which will tell you where all the parts are located as well as every individual pikmin you've got on the field with you (Very useful when you've lost some and have no idea where they are). Study the layouts of the maps, plan routes accordingly and you'll be playing even more efficiently in no time.

I think the game has a really big learning curve. I never owned a GameCube growing up, so even the control scheme took me hours to get to grips with. Then on top of that, the game actually poses a decent amount of time-management challenge.
I think it really clicked for me once I had unlocked all 3 colour Pikmin types.
Either way, there's no rush - We still have plenty of month left to go. :D
I was struggle with the birds too, until I found out the Pikmin do a lot more damage if you can manage to get them to latch on to it's head. I would just stand in front right when it popped out of the ground and start chucking.Took the bite, chose the Wii version because you can rewind days if you feel you blew it, that and i feel the pointer controls are better for aiming throws and marches
I am already 9 days and parts deep into the journey, having some trouble with the Forest of Hope
The last piece there is guarded by a trio of underground birds, once i step there these cretins quickly eat all my pikmins with no chance to retrieve them, i tried to plant bombs but they either shrug them or the yellow pikmin doesn't drop them, any tips?
Oh, guess i never tried that, i have some experience grabbing nectar from the flying thingies, so i could try thatI was struggle with the birds too, until I found out the Pikmin do a lot more damage if you can manage to get them to latch on to it's head.
