Myrient is closing March 31, 2026

I'd probably advise against sharing that stuff here, anyway. It'd be up to the forum admin and owner of the Repo if they want to start adding PS3 games on there

well... at least I was able to get Kid Icarus Uprising, Soul Hackers(I plan a replay as I played PS1 version years ago), SMT IV Apocalypse, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Zelda Between Worlds and WarioWare Gold

although... too bad that I didn't get more 3DS games like DQ VII, Persona Q, Etrian games or Biohazard Revelations along with more Dreamcast and Saturn CHDs in there
Actually, Hshop is still up an running, so the majority of 3DS stuff is still safe for the forseeable future.

Minerva is still being worked on to, and has been archiving stuff through torrents since the 5th, so it's all still there (even if the site is still a barely functioning mess atm).

Hopefully it will get the work it needs (and be better at hosting) so it can serve as the proper Myrient replacement it was always intended to be.

If one is smart enough, one can get ALL ps3 games from official Sony servers, just by using 3rd party software. So whats the point? Rethorical question.

Uhhh... Just do it? If it's against the rules, admin will let you know.

On one hand, I understand being frustrated at these things being more difficult for the potential user to access. That would seem to stymie growth.
On the other, I believe in healthy gatekeeping. Specially so in these days. Not everything needs to or should be easy to get to. That comes with a lot of problems.

As to hosting stuff here, really a prospect up to the admin on if its worth the space and risk.

I see that Myrient has been taken down and they hosted a lot of ps3 isos.
Ah, finally somebody grasps the biggest issue here. Yeah, they were one of the few direct downloads for a number of rare PSN files. Somebody should get that hosted elsewhere, ASAP.

One will never be smart enough to get disc only games from Sony's servers.

idk i always used so many other Rom sites, one site dying is no impact to me.
i heard all the buzz about "Myrient shutting down!!" and said "...wtf is Myrient?"
and yeah while it has a LOT OF STUFF (i did give it a look through but idk, the way it's organized bothered me, so many folders and sections and stuff)
i've found PS3 games all over the place, and archive.org seems to have a LOT of them when i cared to find them.

man, the "press f to pay respects" video, doesn't even hit 2 million views and yet it's easily one of the most life altering memes in all of history, to this day I hear people say "F" to express their condolences to a bad situation, how did this even happen?

Yeah, not going to happen Chief.... As Rage said, Spike has a no-go on systems that new, as it would require massive storage space, cost more, and so on. Also, if you really want, Vimm's has a ton of PS3 games, and it's not really that hard to find ROMs and ISOs if you have good Google-fu, so to speak.

Sadly Now has Died but it was all Mirrored/Backed Up to a New Site.

That uses Torrents as Direct Downloads would make it way to Expensive

Here is the New Site with it all Backed Up:

Agree. It would only make the server just be full of bloated games in a way, which mostly aren't stable on a few emulators. The repo is as good as it as of now, other storages facilities like
Vimm's Liar
and many more are good to keep up more "recent" stuff.

Yeah, it's like many people said already, there's an alternative on the way and thank god most people on the Internet already made millions of sites so we can go and get what we want, it's good knowing that there will be always hope for preservation.

Views are nothing in the face of something more powerful, the reliable word from mouth, the most powerful expressions made their way to world culture that way, going beyond the language barrier.

Also on the subject well:

I see that Myrient has been taken down and they hosted a lot of ps3 isos. I would be willing to get into their discord and get their isos, decrypt them and spread them here. I think their secrecy is incredibly ridiculous and I believe that the emulating community deserves a simple hassle free way to get their games. LMK if this is a good idea, I know the risks, I don't care I'll pipe bomb anybody who has a problem.
Unfortunately that secrecy is the only way for sites like these to survive. Always treat these sites as fight club and have that as the unspoken rule of it (no one talks about the fight club).

Just make a big collection and post the magnet link somewhere.

These are really tough times.

Damn, I hope hshop stays safe

Secrecy? I don't understand what you're talking about, everything on the website was available to everybody, the isos, the disc keys to decrypt them etc, there was no "secrecy". It was probably the most complete up-to-date easy to access public repository of vintage media ever.

Myrient doesn't offer isos/roms on their discord, like I said everything was always available publicly on the website. It shut down because it was a 1 man operation and it cost them over 6000 dollars per month, and donations were nonexistent so they couldn't keep it going. It wasn't to "hide" anything afaik.

Also there are hundreds of other websites to get the same stuff, why not go to one of those? And if you believe "that the emulating community deserves a simple hassle free way to get their games" you're gonna have to provide it and build it yourself because the community doesn't "deserve" anything, nobody is entitled to anything especially for free, someone super generous was providing something so awesome as Myrient to all of us but it wasn't going to last forever especially with those costs and with no ads. So it's time to move on and be grateful that it existed in the first place just like this website.

have you've heard about the Minerva Archive? They preserved 100% of Myrient's contents, and while they still have some finalizing to do, once that's done, the og Myrient will be missed but Minerva will be it's spiritual successor.

I doubt MiNERVA will be as good, you need some serious money to host over 390 terabytes of data and provide good speeds, and torrents are never going to be as fast or reliable/available but hopefully someone with deep pockets steps up and provides hosting, who knows right? I doubt it. I wish them success and will help seeding the stuff I have for sure.
