Myrient is closing March 31, 2026

Which one do you use? Haven't gone shopping yet.
I've just been using Nord because I got a good deal on it, but I don't think it's the best. I'll probably start shopping around once the renewal is up. It's not bad though, does what I need it to do. My only real issue is that it doesn't support port forwarding. Only really need that to host seeds.

How did the backup project fare? Any updates from people ITT participating?

From what I've read, It was a success. 100% of Myrient has been backed up. They're still in the process of re-building the databases from what I understand, but they have it all. :D

I'm not sure I get what you mean...torrent is just the method of file transfer. If they've got the files saved, surely all of them, even the obscure ones, are accessible via torrent?

It nobody seeds than you're not getting the files

seeds bro. if you do not have any seeders, then you wont be getting anything
edit: lol beat by a few seconds

You'll be able to download everything, even if it might be slow because there's seed boxes and different Minerva team members seeding different categories too.

## How is this seeded, will torrents stall?

During the Closed Beta Test one of the objectives was to spread and mirror the archive out to various seed boxes (Torrent Clients) throughout the various regions, this serves as a solid platform for the public release so there will be several seeders handling the files and from there as more and more people complete the archives they will also serve as seeders. While we can’t ensure everyone using our torrents will be good faith actors, we have our own team in place to make sure things stay up.

On the bright side, I think Minerva is up and working now, but it's mostly through torrents.

Never in my life would've thought that of all things that would kill a rom site, it would be RAM prices

well... at least I was able to get Kid Icarus Uprising, Soul Hackers(I plan a replay as I played PS1 version years ago), SMT IV Apocalypse, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Zelda Between Worlds and WarioWare Gold

although... too bad that I didn't get more 3DS games like DQ VII, Persona Q, Etrian games or Biohazard Revelations along with more Dreamcast and Saturn CHDs in there

I hate this fucking timeline.

Rest in Peace Myrient. ::sadkirby

I see that Myrient has been taken down and they hosted a lot of ps3 isos. I would be willing to get into their discord and get their isos, decrypt them and spread them here. I think their secrecy is incredibly ridiculous and I believe that the emulating community deserves a simple hassle free way to get their games. LMK if this is a good idea, I know the risks, I don't care I'll pipe bomb anybody who has a problem.

have you've heard about the Minerva Archive? They preserved 100% of Myrient's contents, and while they still have some finalizing to do, once that's done, the og Myrient will be missed but Minerva will be it's spiritual successor.

Farewell, Myrient... and thank you for all the fun times ❤️🔥😔

This and a few other reasons are why I'm currently in the process of making my own offline database of retro games.
Got everything that was mostly uniquely on myrient (that was of my interest) before it shut down.
