I know that lore-wise they're different characters but one can't deny they're basically like reincarnations of Mega and Proto both in design and personality, which is why I called them counterparts.

I never really saw any kind of chemistry between the whole lot of them in X8, aside from the fact Layer explicitly has a crush on Zero. Zero also either never notices or doesn't seem to care. I'm glad X9 cleared that up alongside the whole Lumine possessing Axl plot thread. excellent game.
