Mega Man Megathread

Do unfinished games count? That Taisen thing's supposed to have some crazy funding, right?

Each time I read "Megaman" I have mind noises telling me "Megumin".

Some of y'all don't want to hear this, but the Mega Man X series isn't that far divorced from a metroidvania progression structure.
Just interconnect the levels with more levels and you get one, pretty much what X Corrupted is doing.
(Or ZX, but that tried to do this and exploded in the process, it's still my favorite 2D game though)

I mean that’s obvious LOL.

To me MM was kinda the missing link between Metroid and Kirby.

I've been saying this for years about demons crest (also Capcom)
I mean it's even more true of Demon's Crest than Mega Man. It's not quite linear, and you need mobility upgrades and new obstacle breakers to progress. You even have multiple endings based on how many levels you've finished and upgrades you've collected.

Yes indeed it's way more open. I also mentioned it because I don't think Demons Crest would exist without Mega man, few tweaks and an overworld map instead of a level select.

One might suggest also playing the first 2 games in the Gargoyle's Quest series.

I like Iris' design mostly thanks to her beret hat

Also her hair is long!

I'm a bit of a sucker for female characters having a beret heh

Aight, that's just cursed. I approve.
You're welcome!

I really wish Smash Bros had a "Copy Team" duo featuring our boy and Kirby (Made by hakusoto_rakugaki on Tumblr)

I've played a bit of the nes game but didn't get very far, admittedly on a mobile device which was probably a mistake, as the platforming sections were painful on a touch screen. It's on my to do list but next time with a proper controller.

Mega Man Timelines #1 cover

So, I read Mega Man Timelines #1.

It was enjoyable. I liked the contrast between Torch Man, a martial artist with principles, and Blast Man, a crazy psycho who just wants to blow stuff up. The art is well done and expressive, and Rock and Rush look like the good boys they are. On the negative side, some of Rock's dialogue is overly "banterish," for lack of a better word. Also, the story takes place in Symphony City, thus acknowledging Rockman & Forte: Mirai kara no Chousensha's existence. As I expected, Bass isn't even mentioned, but hopefully future issues will fix that.

Here's Blast Man looking silly.

Hey guys nice thread you have here!

I absolutely adore Mega Man. The X series is my all-time favorite video game franchise. I wish I had the money to purchase those gorgeous action figures by Kotobukiya. I saw they just revealed X in his Unlimited Potential form from the 'Maverick Hunter X' Opening cinematic.

Is that X8 "demake" any good?

What about Command Mission?

I've not played Demake but I have played the original X8 and I actually love that game. It controls and plays well, but you can't ignore the fact that a majority of its levels are auto scrollers with minimal level design. It has like 5 actual levels.

As for Command Mission... I simply dropped it. I got about to chapter 7. I think the characters are alright but the plot is not too exciting. It's like the other characters have 1 moment to shine and that's it. It also doesn't help that Command Mission is set in a different X continuity. Gameplay wise for an RPG is mixed. You don't have traditional ways of healing yourself but instead rely on a subtank like in the X games which is awkward to function with. I think you should give it a try yourself.
