The Doom Engine (and its derivatives) is still great despite the many years that happened.Play Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch, they pulled it off and made it great.
I don't even like a lot of FPSes but I'll play TF out of MM8BDM.
MM 8-bits Death Match and Sonic Robo Blast 2 are undeniably some of the best games in their respective franchises.
Even that one Castlevania mod convinced me that CV could have worked in 3D.
On a side note I wouldn't mind seeing the equivalent of Sonic Mania but for Megaman as a hommage to the classic series.
If it worked for Metroid despite being a japanese series then why not MM? Of course, as a spinoff since it's not exactly the same gameplay.Even so, Mega Man is much more inspired by Japanese pop culture than Metroid. Making Mega Man a FPS simply doesn't make sense.
I was the first to think that MM couldn't have worked as an Action RPG yet Battle Network worked.
