Mega Man Megathread

Man, I need to beat the rest of megaman game before megaman dual override or else I'll DIE !!!!!!!!
The ones I'm missing are:
Megaman 7 -10
Megaman X6 anda X8
(And Xtreme 1 and 2)
Zero 3 and 4
Legends 1 and 2
Megaman ZX anda advent
(Two years ago I was playing Mega Man ZX, but I gave the phone I had it on to a friend who needed a phone)
Battle network 3-6
And StarForce 1-3
Don't get burnt out.

I honestly don't want to rush things and I can be fine having only done the Classic Games. The Legends and Battle Network/Star Force games are longer RPGs so I don't feel like doing them back to back.

Well, that's true, but honestly I'd feel more comfortable if I at least finished the main stuff; I wouldn't have a problem leaving the BN and SF parts unfinished

BN takes even more time if you want to fight Bass.exe. In every freaking game you need to get almost (or all) chips to open the final door

BN 3 is where stuff got weird with how the story jumps to RNG and reruns. And a lot of fans hate that game for said reason

Not to mention the related rng nightmare of game that was released with 3 that even with hacks that eliminated said rng is still pure luck (how is this possible?)

I forgot about Mega Man Fully Charged...
Let's be real, who didn't?
What a pointless series, who was the target audience of that?

It just looks like an attempt at a sonic boom or pacman and the ghostly adventures with a franchise that was dead in the water and needed more important things at the moment.

I wanted to like BN3 a lot more, but I just could not, way too many annoying things.

BN2 is still the better one in my eyes. (Until I can complete 5 and 6 at least)

This was a weird era...

At least Sonic Boom has brought nice memes.

And a worse game than sonic 06 that no one tries to defend.

The mid 2010s really were weird, many franchises got derailed into odd projects (many bad) or went missing entirely.

I'd go as far as to say Xtreme 2 on the GBC is a hidden gem

Seeing this thread pop up was the E Tank I needed to try and get 'Rockman Dash: Great Adventure on 5 Islands' up and running on my computer again. Wish me luck gamers...

Also, why does it feel so impossible to make a good Megaman cartoon? the games already have a solid template in place for 11 seasons of episodes, and you could make it an episodic series of events where each episode in between the opening and finale gives focus to individual robot masters.

I know some people aren't a fan of the Archie comics, but what they accomplished quite easily was building a plot on the relatively lean skeleton of the classic Megaman games, using literally every piece of lore available, but also telling their own narrative.

But for WHATEVER REASON, we keep getting duds this side of the sea. It feels like some kind of capcom curse that all extended media MUST suck ass. Darkstalkers, Megaman fully charged, megaman ruby spears, Street fighter, the street fighter movie, the chun li movie, devil may cry netflix, all resident evil films, resident evil netflix, the monster hunter movie...

Blame crapcom for being incompetent, this happens when there's a complete lack of care for an IP.

Hurts more the lack of an anime of MMX like the Maverick Hunter X ova, or one for MMZ and ZX (the best things available are from tv ads and the few cutscenes, it stings). Those series were perfect material for quality anime and all that was wasted.

The issue is that video game series are often a risk to take unless you get some liberties.

The Kirby anime went well but it also took many liberties in its narrative.

When you remember the Darkstalkers tv serie liberties, you know some stuff better stay as games

Good thing we did got a short anime that was close to the little plot the game had. Not to mention how much of a nightmare ass Pyron was show

The only bad thing is that it was too short and the focus was Donovan and Anita story when Dimitri was the one who started it as the antagonist protagonist with Morrigan later

If they ever try to go with the Archie Comics, then they most likely will go with Sonic instead of Megaman for the safe route

That said, is a shame that we are yet to get an "open world" version of the Megaman universe to see what other characters do in the middle of those hell wars (C'mon, that stuff writes by itself) and even see the fate of old characters

But since Capcom just gives a little care for Megaman itself, thats more a side comic material (and fans stories)

Archie Sonic it's a giant can of worms that has no chances of returning for way too many things. Archie MM in the other hand is going to get reprints soon so...

All I can say it's that there's a non-zero chance of that one getting uncanceled and continuing where it left off in comparison to anything Archie Sonic getting officially acknowledged in any capacity by Sega.

Well, given how Archie comics comes and goes like "you love it or hate it", Mega/Gigamix is the next possible way to take it from there

But i see it more of them just starting from an original new story to show Megaman adventures from all the games (with maybe some cameos of robots from the other comics that Capcom owns)

Was the charged beam a good addition to the series or just a way to give enemies more hitpoints? I want to try the romhack where they removed the charge and reduced the health of many enemies.

Mmm
I think was a good addition, It makes Mega Man feel more powerful, and it's also one of the best options when you start the game and don't have enough boss weapons. Although for me, the one in Mega Man 5 is ridiculously overpowered; it makes the other weapons almost useless. Thankfully, it's been balanced with each installment.

And Wich romhack you will to play?

At least there's the piercing ability to make it easier when it comes to several smaller enemies.

MM5 has some balance issues yeah, even some weapons are too convenient.

This one:

I think there's also one for 5 and 6.

Yes, to be honest, I found MM5 very easy and I admit a little boring. Besides, I didn't know there was a romhack that removes the charged shot.

Both X4 and X5 where easy. To the point that you need to play as base X just to get some challenge (Zero is its own tier, and Megaman X6 makes it almost impossible to beat it with armorless X due to design)

Was the charged beam a good addition to the series...
Yes
X4 charge shot.gif

In terms of game play yes I think so. But it works much better when you assign dash/ shot to shoulder buttons.
