Mega Man Megathread

I found out something absolutely silly today... turns out ceratanium has existed for 2 years. it's apparently being used in luxury watches right now. I'm sure we will be making scissors with it soon enough.

Good evening.
My favorite Robot Master is Elecman.
That is all.

(I like how he looks like he could be the protagonist of his own game, and I love how he has that little finger ball thing instead of a cannon, and how he’s got bracers)
I may or may not agree with you. I may or may not have based myself on some or more aspects of the classic and battle network versions of this character.

I finished my Rockman 8 replay, and man, this game is even worse than remember.

Thoughts in no particular order:
1) I really like the Japanese voice acting, especially Bass and Clown Man. The latter genuinely sounds cute and charming, believe it or not.
2) The snowboard sections in Frost Man's level are manageable. Wily Tower 1 can suck my [male reproductive organ], though.
3) Related to the above, there are just way too many autoscrollers. It really feels like the devs were running on fumes, trying to come up with the new level gimmicks.
4) Bass is such a joke, it makes me sad : (
5) I hate Dr. Wily's boss fight. It's one of the few times I cursed having to input down and jump for slide.
6) I tried using Special Weapons as often as possible, but they all were so boring and uninteresting I gave up on that.
7) I like the mid-boss music and Electrical Communication.
8) Aqua Man is officially one of my favorite Robot Master designs. Look at how dapper he is.
9) Duo is a terrible character and I'm glad he disappeared from the games after Mega Man Battle & Chase.
10) I hate the mazes in Astro Man's level.
11) I hate Sword Man's entire level.
I just played Mega Man 8 and beaten it in one sitting, taking only a short break in the middle.

The game is fine. It's not purist classic Mega Man but it works as a platformer game with gorgeous pixel art. During the game I experimented every weapon acquired from bosses and every one of them has been useful in a few occasions. I wonder how many other Mega Man games can say the same.

Beating the normal stages was mostly a relaxing experience, but when I got to the final floor in Wily's tower it really brought under light how much susceptible to stress I was today, due to having to do the boss rush before Wily after every game over. If it weren't for the circumstances it wouldn't have been that bad I guess. It did felt satisfying getting the hang of the bosses patterns.

I did use Rush's healing, and Energy Saver and H.Speed Charge in the final tower stage, otherwise I didn't bother with these things during the playthrough.

The anime cutscenes were nice minus a few poorly acted voices, it gives a glimpse of what a real Mega Man anime would have been like. Though I skipped a lot of it since I focused primarily on beating the game. I did like Mega Man's voice for the most part.

Also I love Bass' transformation design and theme.

Thinking about this thread had me thinking of those times playing the NES
For Mega Man 5 ... my cousin seems to almost always start off the game taking on Gravity Man
But for me when I was growing up ... I figured Napalm Man was the easiest because all I had to do was jump to avoid the explosion bombs and then slide away then shoot a full charged shot until he was defeated :O Can practically finish that stage too undamaged

Ah ... really fond memories

Has anyone in this thread ever played Street Fighter X Mega Man?

A pixel art of Mega Man and Ryu about to Hadouken one another. In the upper left corner is the Street Fighter X Mega Man logo.

I took a crack at it some time ago, but I rage quit at Vega. I remember the game looking really ugly and having boring level design.

Oooo, I haven’t played this since it released! I have no memories about the actual game though except from that the music was nice.

Yeah, the music was good. Unironically one of my favorites.

I did actually. Had your exact experience. Wasn’t my thing. Reeked of Megaman fangame syndrome but that’s a completely separate rant I’ll post one day. Goated music though.

Bass and Treble Darkstar's profile.

"Forte & Gospel Darkstar"

"Hmm, a car race... Well, fine. It's a good chance to settle things." That's what Forte thought when he heard that Rockman takes part in "Battle & Chase." He drove off on the modified Gospel machine and entered the race!"

Text near Bass: "Prepare yourself, Rockman! I'll end this once and for all!!"

"Gospel Darkstar — Basic performance & special abilities"

"Equipped with Double Engine with average performance, an acceleration-boosting Accel. Wing, and easy-to-handle Almighty Tire. It's a well-balanced machine of the same type as Rush Roadstar. The special abilities include shot attacks Forte Buster and Forte Blast."

Screenshot: "Machines hit by Forte Blast will spin out!"

Mega man has some pretty great spinoffs, not gonna lie.

Actually, I liked Megaman 9 & 10. However, I never understood, if this was a necessary NES downgrade feeling, after the jump to Megaman 7, 8 and Megaman & Bass...

The whole reason MM9 and MM10 existed is to pander to nostalgic adults who played MM2 as kids and thought it was the peak Classic Mega Man. The retro style was necessary for this purpose.

Is there any way to play the Mega Man Zero games with the Remastered Soundtracks yet?
I love those games with all of my heart but the Remastered OST's are so good i can't go back to listening to those songs on a GBA soundchip again.

It's pure nostalgia baiting. Going from Mega Man's 8 visuals to the 8 bit sprites again was so disappointing i never understood how people back then ate that shit up without complaining.

Mmm... Unnecesary Retro/8-Bit transition, if you ask me.
I mean, Megaman classic was invading back the Nintendo Gamecube/PlayStation 2 era,
and I was deceived by Capcom with not releasing Megaman Mania (for Gameboy Advance, understandable to certain reach),
instead, questioning why so light games/roms, will be in a Nintendo Gamecube game.
Years later, I figured out why Dx"
This is the main reason I debutted NESticle and FCEUX Emulator.

People ate it up because of the combination of a mainstream retro-styled game being a genuinely unique concept at the time and the "OMG ITS JUST LIKE MEGA MAN 2" factor.
