Least favorite game on a franchise you love.

I would say, god eater 2 , the Idol stuff is so unbereable, i know ppl don't tend to play those games for the story but i do.
G.E 1 got a good plot, really likeable characters, a reasonable villian (Johannes plan was actually proven to be the right thing to do, if you look at the reiterative nature of the devour apocalipse).
G E 2 has none of the above and some pretty plain characters to boot.

Idol stuff in god eater??? How did they even fit that in a post apocalyptic MH style game

Basically the last boss of the base game was defeated with the power of united hearths through song, the Idol char was there adding mostly nothing or fan service for the mc, as to how it did fit, well it doesnt really, she was suppose to be there lifting ppl spirits but that was it for her character.

Since we are on the subject, do GE games need to be played in order?
Not really, while there is continuity and some recurring characters you can pretty much play them in any order you want, it does give you context via the archive menu, gameplay wise all games are fun too, dirty cheap on steam (for ge 1&2)

OK, the rule is that I'm not allowed to list any spin-offs or little handheld thingies or whatever – they all have to be mainline, officially-released instalments in the series. To wit:

  • Sonic Heroes can give my king-sizer a massive sucking. Despite having some good atmosphere and music, it's a really ugly, garish, buggy, unfun pile of frustration. Even as a kid who gobbled up anything Sonic-related, I knew something was wrong with this one.
  • Super Mario Galaxy – yes, I did say Galaxy – can similarly bugger off, entirely because of the control scheme. I HATE WAGGLING, MOTHER. DON'T MAKE ME WAGGLE!!!!
  • Half-Life: Blue Shift, while not a bad game, is easily the weakest entry in the series. It's really short and honestly pretty bland, and feels like a collection of fan maps moreso than an official expansion. Sorry, Barney.
  • Deception III: Dark Delusions is like Tecmo looked at Deception II and thought "Hm, how can we fuck this up entirely?" All the new stuff is shit, all the good stuff is recycled wholesale from the second game, the main character makes me want to kill myself, and it's really slow. FAIL
  • Ace Attorney: Justice for All has precisely one character who I wanted to have intercourse with when I was 14, and that's really all it has going for it. All the cases are dumb, none of the characters even compare to the first game's, and the music is worse, too. FAIL
  • Mega Man 4 sucks for reasons I listed here. Whoever at Capcom decided that Mega Man games should have minibosses is a simpleton.
That's all I can think of right now, but if I come up with any others, I'll let you fellas know.

SONIC HEROES CAN SUCKK MYYYYYYY- err, sorry. What I was saying was,

Same.

Now I'm curious to know who that character is.

Probably FFXIII, just an awful FF game with a horrible story, message, and characters. The gameplay was pretty repetitive as well and it had a tutorial section that lasted about 20 hours. It was the game that put my Final Fantasy fandom on life support and FFXV finished it off.

I hear the criticisms about Fire Emblem Fates, but as bad as that game is, Fire Emblem Engage is much, much worse. Terrible character designs, nonsensical lore, story straight out of a Saturday morning sentai show. At least Fates has Conquest and some really tight strategy gameplay.

Final Fantasy XII

I played and enjoyed (some more than others) a lot of FF games: 1 (psp), 3 and 4 (ds remake), 5 (gba remake), 7-8-9 (ps1), 10 and 10.2 (vita), 13 (xbox), and various spinoff (Tactics Advance 1 and 2, World of FF, Chocobo game on ds, Crisis Core on psp, and maybe some other I don't remember).

I also would like to try FF2 and FF6, oh and I've played FF15 pocket on Switch!

The only one I started 4 times (two on ps2 and two on Switch) is FF12; everytime I played for a few hours, and then stopped it, and other games came and took its place.

I know I don't like the gambit system (I prefer all-action or classic menu turn-based, I know all the good reason beyond gambit but it simply didn't click with me), so that's probably why I always dropped it.
the gambit system is optional. you can turn it off even for guest characters and manually command each character if you want to. it works the best for taking care of tedious tasks like reapplying buffs or curing status ailments. you may want to try the zodiac version; it has a job system like several other games in the series. in vanilla, you can have everyone learn everything; which is a weird thing that they keep doing every other game.

I do not get the hate for the gambit system. It is low key brilliance, in my estimation. It was adopted to good effect by some WRPGs, like Dragon Age: Origins.

I agree with you. Properly scripting your party removes a lot of the tedium from an RPG. Phantasy Star 4 had macros and that was awesome.

some people want full control over their characters and may want the battle system to be either fully turn based or real time. FFXII blends the two together like several previous games did with the ATB gauge, but probably as smoothly as it could possibly be. the gambit system seems like it was built to help with making mundane battles end quicker and to build tactics to defeat some of the harder bosses.

You already said it was a Fire Emblem game?

Haha fair but the designs were next level awful. They must've hired a color-blind artist or something cause I've never seen such awfulness in a video game before. When they revealed the designs, the Pepsi-chan memes were flying left and right.

Yeah, if you want to manual control just turn off the gambits. I usually play FFXII with one player fully under my control and the other two party members using gambits.

Halo Reach is by far the weakest Halo to me as a package. Campaign is on the weaker end and the multiplayer is probably only better than 4 in my mind.

Final Fantasy 4 is one that I was never quite able to get into. Story had some cool ideas but it never really went further than just being cliche to me. Combat and progression systems felt as meh as the franchise had ever seen up to that point since it lacked the uniqueness of FF2 and the diverse job system of FF3 (and even 1 I suppose). I'm sure if I had played it when it released it would have stuck with me more, but when I compare it to RPGs I've played that released both before and after it just refuses to standout to me in any capacity.

Finally I'll go with Shadow the Hedgehog. It has nothing going for it aside from a handful of banging tunes in an otherwise forgettable soundtrack (which is blasphemous for a Sonic game). Visually meh, structurally nightmarish, controls terribly and doesn't even have dope level design to save it.

DRAGON QUARTER??? SEMINAL ARTFUL MASTERWORK DRAGON QUARTER???? have you played the most boilerplate 16bit rpg ever made sorry, the first Breath of Fire??
I hope you're not being ironic because it is always nice to meet someone else who appreciates Dragon Quarter on any level lol. Love that game!
