I think Earthbound is not fun.
I did not enjoy walking around at a snail crawl pace trying to figure out what I'm trying to do only to have some NPC tell me nothing but stupid bullshit and the whole time all the characters are like some obnoxious wannabe trying to sound funny or weird in an attempt to appeal to those with an eccentric taste in bizarre humor, only to fall flat on it's face.

There is no 'truth' in a matter of opinion.
Unless it's transformed into a FACT!

So what, the hint guy was too vague?

Tch, if you can even find  him

I th8nk all the times I ever wanted to try and get a hint, he was nowhere nearby. But the game is bad for other reasons and I can list them.

You may also list the places for when you can't find him.

The battle music in Earthbound sounds like a guy with no musical knowledge holding a trumpet in his hands and a trumpet in his ass while trying to walk down the street and invent fighting music for a video game while he learns to play the trumpet and trying not to make it noticeable that he also has one sticking out of his ass, through his pants, which he has to keep in the entire time as he uncomfortably shimmies down the street to his destination.

The part he does  not understand, however, is that he is not required to attempt to play the butt-trumpet ass well, but fails to realize this and does so anyway.

That's all ::holdup

I won't get into how repetitive and boring the combat is, or anything else I don't like about the game; all I will say is that it is a slog, and I forced myself to play to and make myself believe I was having fun doing so, but it was just a chore to get through, and I don't think I would have figured out half of it without guides.

I am really not liking Absolum. I appreciate the art direction, combat, music, and voice acting, but this game is really reminding why I don't do rouge-likes/lites. I hate the run back, and the only things in this genre or genre hybrid to grab me are Streets Of Rage 4's survival mode, and Double Dragon Gaiden. Absolum I more than likely gonna uninstall and never bother with again.

Setting is superior
Better ambience, atmosphere & music.
Quests are more memorable, especially the side ones.
Better Pip-Boy radio
Unique items/weapons are more memorable and interesting.
Exploring is overall more engaging and yes that includes the underground metro systems too.

This is the reason why I am not to subscribed Ghenry Perez. He's got some good videos, and while he has some valid complaints about Hi-Fi Rush, I can't stand when someone personally attacks a creator or shits on them unnecessarily. I get you don't like John Johanas work and all, but the guy ain't a bad person. Nor should you insult a voice actor for doing their job. This isn't the mid to late 2000s anymore. If you want to be seen as mature, then cut that shit out. I wouldn't call the game "too easy" either. Sure, I didn't die much, but there are some difficult sections, even on Normal. YMMV with Chai and the overall cast, but I love all the characters. Chai is not as annoying as Perez makes him out to be.

Another thing Perez, if you're not that interested in Tango Games, because Mikami and Nakamura left, then you came in for the shallowest reasons. You might as well pack up and leave now. I'm glad you want to support something different and is way more artistic, but you can't have it both way. Either you're into the developers, or not. I miss Mikami and Nakamura as well, but the former wants the next generation to take over, and the latter has matters of her own to attend in towards building legacy. Mikami wants these developers and new people to spread their wings. He won't be around forever, and I respect and support his choice to step down.

Sorry, if I am coming off critical of the guy, but I hate when people go too far into something they don't like, or unnecessarily bash something or a game director for just doing their job. Like I said before, Perez has good content, but he can too contentious with certain opinions and goes too far at times. This was a take I made in 2023.

With Tango getting laid off by Microsoft, and then being picked up by Krafton, i don't know his feelings on the matter, or what changed, but i'm honestly not interested.

Not going to lie, Alma Wade raping Beckett in FEAR 2 felt out-of-character, and unneccessarry. Made it hard for me to care for the character after that. Yes, she's a murdering psychopathic woman child ghost psychic out for revenge, but given her father raped Alma her in mid teens, you would think Alma would be above something like that, or have some standards. I admit I don't like FEAR 2 in general, because of its "CODifying cinematic nature" and dumbing down the gameplay (you could not dual wield pistols anymore) of the first game in many regards. It still plays good enough, but I think the story suffers, and gameplay feels more generic and of the times. F3AR is way worse in many regards, but it did have better bullet time compared to FEAR 2.

I don't think I'm ever going to buy the River City Girls duology. As both games do things I don't like nor have the time or patience for anymore. The first game has a dumb twist ending that makes all the characters to be jackasses. Kyoko and Misako are psycho ex-girlfriends. Their "boyfriends" never needed rescuing in the first place. To get the true ending is kind of a pain too, because you have to find all these statues and you're better off just looking at a YouTube walk through to find them all. There was a patch update that changed the ending to alleviate this a little, but it's still an issue. Why Way Forward went with this ending is beyond me, and it really shows they got kind of careless around the later half of the games story. The second game has too much padding around the last hour and deliberately wastes the players time. I've already looked it up and that killed my interest in the sequel. I love the character designs, but I hate it when a developer purposely pads a game, cuz they know they don't have enough content to justify the length. Nobody was going to complain about this game being shorter than the first game. Especially if you're going to charge at $30+. Maybe if they ever decide to do a third game, I might consider buying it, but I'm going to take a wait and see approach first.

Also, the first RCG being better than Streets of Rage 4 (and I'm assuming it's sequel as well) I find highly subjective and disagree. I'm saying this because Pat and Woolie made that statement back in 2020, when both games released. Just because all your characters have universal running and dashing, doesn't automatically make it superior. Granted I think I kind of already made this case but I wasn't as detailed. SOR4 has all these content updates that came out. RCG does have unlockable characters for both games, but that's about it. It's just a full campaign and that's it. Other than a story change patch update for the first game, there is not much else.

Hao Asakura from Shaman King (Manga and Second Anime Adaptation) is by far the lamest villain in not only the shounen genre, but damn near all things anime and manga.

heavily favors characters with special bloodlines, "natural talent", or those with demon/god-like powers
this analysis only really works if you take the text and villains at its word and ignore pretty much everything its doing as subtext and also what's actually going on. naruto may have been born with exceptional parents but he didnt get anything from it other than higher than a higher than average chakra pool from his moms side. his signature moves are only available to him because he learned a workaround. the rasengan is only formed for most of the series because a shadow clone is created specifically to make the rotation necessary for the technique. the shadow clone jutsu was only learned because naruto had higher chakra reserves that allowed him more opportunities to perform the jutsu than the average person would be able to. but it still took him all day and the newfound desire to protect someone he cares about to do the move once in an effective manner.

naruto actually wasnt bad at everything, he just couldnt apply himself in the areas expected of him. ignoring the fact the nine tails was part of the reason for this (its what kakashi says causes naruto to overexert himself for little gain) he also didnt have anyone willing to help him learn because of said fox. the village refers to him as the fox rather than his name and is what created the fuckass swing flashback. iruka is important to naruto because he sees him as a person rather than a wmd which is what that conversation is actually about. the fact that someone believed he could be more than a troublemaking bum gave naruto the confidence to seriously pursue his dream because that's what he was missing above all.

lee's story isnt about having no talent and succeeding anyway, everyone in naruto is talented but because lee's specialty wasn't the same as everyone else's he was considered worthless. his story is about being able to ignore the expectations placed on you by others and achieve your dreams through your own means.

sasuke, the "problem" character, was born from a talented bloodline but had to live in a segregated part of the village as a result of his ancestors' actions and wasn't talented from the get go anyways. he actually puts in more effort than anyone as we were shown in the final valley section's flashbacks but because he doesn't make a show of it, it leads everyone to assume it was easy for him.
like i had said before, he's a victim of a system based on fear and hatred of one another and so it causes him to perpetuate that cycle because he doesn't know anything else. everyone in the world considers him a threat/lost cause and the only person willing to understand his pain to get through to him is naruto.

naruto is thematically about a lot of things and it does actually follow through on that incomplete assessment of "hard work > talent" but because it is kinda slapped together and expands the scope of its ideas unnaturally it leads to things being misinterpreted or seemingly forgotten. im not gonna reply to this anymore because its outside the point of the thread but i have a chronic need to argue and ive said pretty much everything i need to anyways

Not really "misinterpretation" when Kishimoto screwed up on his writing, missed the point on what he started in the first place. Whatever intentions he tried, Kishimoto fucked it up.

Glad I dropped Naruto when I did, because I can only tolerate so much. The only other positive I can gives is that I am happy Hinata and Naruto got married. Called it all the way back in 2003.

I highly doubt this is much of a hot take nowadays, but Star vs. The Forces of Evil had writing on the wall of seasonal rot since the end of the second season. When the original writer left to work on other shows for a different network, it was already tumbling down. The forced and predictable romance, most of the main cast becoming unlikable or unsympathetic and out of character jerks, bringing characters that didn't need to be in the third or fourth season, and should have just been left alone, and a really bad ending.

Hekapoo sucks as a character, and there's nothing redeeming up about her. Not even arguably. It's kind of hard to feel anything for her, and little respect when she's part of an ancient conspiracy that's been using and abusing systemic racism on people. The only reason why she still has fans, is because most people simp for her. Yeah, semi chubby hot looking demon chick, but I like my animated ladies and guys to have some class.

It's been argued she's not supposed to be seen as that sympathetic (Star hates her, yet Marco & Hekapoo got mutual respect, but I don't buy it for a second), but it still doesn't change the fact Hekapoo does not do much to help way afterward. The best she does, is at the end where she opens a portal for the cast members to take on the final big bad, while she waste away at a bar knowing all the magical disappear when the villain is defeated. Screw you. You and your little cabal of conspirators caused all this mess to happen in the first place! Own up to your mistakes and actually fix them! Even if it costs you your existence.

I would have preferred the original idea for Jurassic World, where it took more inspired elements from Resident Evil. They were going to make dinosaur-human hybrids. There would be less nostalgia baiting and at least something interesting and different. Something to set it apart, instead of just poor imitators of the past.

Okay here's my hot take:

I am not a fan of any remake even is good or bad because it takes away the original charm (and because I don't have a console to play the remake)

The term "microslop" is equally as dork-ass shit as "micro$oft."

Which is to say, 100%

Final Fantasy III gets shit on for not being able to carry over abilities from differenr jobs, but has way more depth as a story when compared to FFV which is bland and short in comparison.
What......story??? Are you talking NES or 3d remake??? ALSO how is FF5 story bland? KAI TAKE YOUR MEDS

New Vegas has nothing happening in a huge ass desert and it's super boring longterm between traveling somewhere and actually finding anything; everything in the game feels tacked on or just kinda thrown in, and Fallout 3 feels more orchestrated, planned out so that you run into this thing, or that thing, or both.

In New Vegas the wasteland is barren, as is much of the storytelling until later on; the game sets an atmosphere and does little beyond that for the first several hours.

I don't think it's a bad game, just felt boring by comparison with little to nothing to do, whereas Fallout 3 felt full of stuff to find or things to do, little sidequests everywhere or just neat environmental storytelling.

I think Dragonball Z Abridged sucks
I'd rather watch the original Ocean dub
If I wanted to listen to a bunch of incel clowns I'd go back to high sch--
Wait why would I want to do that.

None of the jokes are funny to me, maybe it's a generational thing but I feel like every 'joke' is just crass, low-brow internet humor full of cheap shots and low-blows. Yeah, I do see how over time as they continued to do voice-overs they've improved and the.. quality of their work itself, but I really don't see the point; something I didn't think was funny or entertaining to begin with became slightly moreso; big whoop.

Of all the things I could watch to laugh at, there is an infinite amount that is not also obnoxiously annoying as hell. That said,
the thing that really pisses me off is how
newgens and stupid zoomers think these are quotes from the actual  show
and when you try to tell them that
they go "Oh. Cool."
They don't realize it's literally like a small unaffiliated group of random individuals that decided to do their own fanmade voice-over, and because of how stupid the younger generations are, they actually fucking believe it's the original DBZ production, oh my god

I am so fucking pissed off about this; Akira Toriyama deserved so much better. ::bigboss

My next Hot Take:

Remakes have a place.

-Does not detract from the original as those are always there at your disposal anyway to switch between when desired, so the 'nostalgia goggles on' version can be revisited when the mood suits, same can apply for a remake version. it's not like the remakes are trying to replace (show me in writing where this is true/factual) modern changes need to be made somehow, which brings me to my next point:

-Remakes can act like a companion piece along side the original, or a secondary, alternative way to experience a title, perhaps via quality of life, new additions etc. (for example RE2 and RE2 Remake, both have strengths and weaknesses, still decent in their own right)

Note: This does not mean EVERY SINGLE remake is successful, but in my opinion, in most cases they have delivered in some way or another as per above.

(Silent Hill 2 Remake is good. also I can still play the original, I like them both)

My only counterpoint isn't even against your argument. I just wish releasing a new remaster or a remake didn't mean they would also de-list older versions that had still been available previously. It means they are indirectly encouraging piracy at that point.

I am for remasters/remakes, especially for games I didn't have a chance to play back in the day.
