i'm trying to be a friend, and trying to help him learn and grow and improve himself. i've been trying for over a year. i know it will take time for him to see things in a more positive light rather than in a negative one. he's had plenty of hot takes here on the thread, and other than this one time, i haven't seen any reason for him not to have the take that he did.I don't think someone who had to look up the definitions of the words "just to be sure" should be concerned about e-parenting a stranger on the internet.
This is a frankly insane comparison to make.
I don't think any of you should be this involved with any of the children that frequent this place. If it were up to me we'd be 18+ and that would solve me having to read dumb teenage drama.i'm trying to be a friend, and trying to help him learn and grow and improve himself. i've been trying for over a year. i know it will take time for him to see things in a more positive light rather than in a negative one. he's had plenty of hot takes here on the thread, and other than this one time, i haven't seen any reason for him not to have the take that he did.
i always look up words to double check the meaning of the word to make sure that they are being used correctly. a few times i've heard a word being used in a way different than how i normally have heard it and i learn something new as a result.
i know, and it was something i would have thought impossible many years ago, but truth is stranger than fiction. it sounds like something you'd see on robot chicken or family guy.
as much as i don't like the snyder dc movies, this one line from batman stood out to me. "if there's even a 1% chance, we have to take it as an absolute certainty".
if there is a 1% chance something could happen to xdqwerty because of a bad habit he developed, i don't want to take the chance by letting it slide by. i hope he just grows out of it and nothing bad happens in the end; and it's just a stepping stone for him on his path to adulthood and beyond. nothing of real note or concern for; just a quirky little habit for a teenager or young adult to have at the moment, nothing more.
I'm sure angrily scolding somebody (especially a teenager) for a slight semantincs issue is gonna help them learn and improve.and trying to help him learn and grow and improve himself
Friendship with Tonberry ended. :PYakuza 7 is better than all its predecessors.
I thought self flagellation was only about self-insulting, cuz I recall sometimes fake-kun uses it like that and I discovered that term through themself-flagellation is literally beating your self up; specifically with a whip. i doubt that he does this. his family would notice whip marks on him.
i've told him to seek help from professional people trained to help with this kind of stuff, and others have as well; he does not seem to have a very high opinion of such people.I don't think any of you should be this involved with any of the children that frequent this place. If it were up to me we'd be 18+ and that would solve me having to read dumb teenage drama.
No offense, @Xdqwerty or any of the other kids. You're good kids. But kids are dumb and dramatic. None of you should be mixing with or taking advice from adults on a retro game site or the internet in general.
He is a teenager acting edgy for positive reinforcement. You are an adult spending time feeding into this. Neither is healthy.i've told him to seek help from professional people trained to help with this kind of stuff, and others have as well; he does not seem to have a very high opinion of such people.
i mostly just try to cheer him up with funny youtube videos or helping him out in a game he is playing. try to keep his mind occupied on something else for a brief few moments and help clear his mind a bit, and hopefully help make it easier for him to make level-headed decisions on his own.
No im not being edgy nor seeking attentionHe is a teenager acting edgy for positive reinforcement. You are an adult spending time feeding into this. Neither is healthy.
this is the only time that i've actually been angry towards anything that he has ever said. i hope that this is just him being bored and nothing else.I'm sure angrily scolding somebody (especially a teenager) for a slight semantincs issue is gonna help them learn and improve.
Just gonna drop this now, I think we're clearly just stomping in place for no reason at this point.
that's why you need to check out the definitions of words. otherwise this kind of stuff happens. i checked on the definition, but my thesaurus app is apparently limited on what was included with it. i should have doubled checked on google as well.I thought self flagellation was only about self-insulting, cuz I recall sometimes fake-kun uses it like that and I discovered that term through them
yeah, that didn't take very long for me to notice. most of the time i just go by his comments and let him vent his thoughts out without interference. i figured that just letting the negativity out might help him.He is a teenager acting edgy for positive reinforcement. You are an adult spending time feeding into this. Neither is healthy.
People always accuse me of attention/drama seeking ;-;No im not being edgy nor seeking attention
I forgot why this argument started lolthis is the only time that i've actually been angry towards anything that he has ever said. i hope that this is just him being bored and nothing else.
you said two words meant the same to you, despite not being remotely similar in nature and apparently that was something that made me have a super saiyan moment.People always accuse me of attention/drama seeking ;-;

Oh yeahyou said two words meant the same to you, despite not being remotely similar in nature and apparently that was something that made me have a super saiyan moment.
Which is why you need to take stuff said on here with a grain of salt and remember that we're all just nerds on a video game forum. He's not qualified to help you, neither am I, we can try to cheer you up but he doesn't have the right to explode on you like that out of nowhere, especially since he just admitted to blatantly mischaracterizing you as "edgy attention seeker" too just now.People always accuse me of attention/drama seeking ;-;
Self flagelatting oneself can be used as a turn of phrase for being self deprecating. Either way, you shouldn't care this much about someone elses child.you said two words meant the same to you, despite not being remotely similar in nature and apparently that was something that made me have a super saiyan moment.
But I have aspergersWhich is why you need to take stuff said on here with a grain of salt and remember that we're all just nerds on a video game forum.
Even the PS2 original?I'm sure angrily scolding somebody (especially a teenager) for a slight semantincs issue is gonna help them learn and improve.
Just gonna drop this now, I think we're clearly just stomping in place for no reason at this point.
Oh well, here's an actual contribution to the thread.
Yakuza 7 is better than all its predecessors.
I'm sure 90% of the forum's entire userbase has to some degree, but if anything that just doubles the point I'm trying to make here.But I have aspergers
Even the PS2 original?
i've tried to ignore that part about him. i'm not sure what it is that makes him come off like that. i've seen it here and there; and i figured that maybe he just doesn't know how to phrase his thoughts in the right way. and english isn't his native language, so maybe what he says in it comes out differently than he intends for it to.Which is why you need to take stuff said on here with a grain of salt and remember that we're all just nerds on a video game forum. You really don't have anything to apologize for in this context.
i don't think of him like he's my kid, i think of him as a friend. i don't mind if he notices some flaw about himself or doesn't want to be boastful and pompous about himself. i just don't want him to be so negative about himself that he could get to the point where he can't even take a compliment or anything like that.Self flagelatting oneself can be used as a turn of phrase for being self deprecating. THIS.i've seen it here and there; and i figured that maybe he just doesn't know how to phrase his thoughts in the right way. and english isn't his native language, so maybe what he says in it comes out differently than he intends for it to.
you're weclome?THIS.
Cuz your explanation basically applied to my case: thoughts coming out differently than intended (and I think whatever I just said is also not the way I intended to say it)you're weclome?
yeah, i have this fear too.Cuz your explanation basically applied to my case: thoughts coming out differently than intended (and I think whatever I just said is also not the way I intended to say it)
