Hot takes

I like coffee with milk, it's still a legitimate form of coffee.

On the other hand the price of Starbuck is nothing near the quality of said coffee, you're basically paying for the space you're spending time in when you write your essay or read a book.
I think coffee in general is highly overrated, like it doesn't taste like much, and if you still want a caffeine boost but with flavour, then just get a cappuccino.

Valid point, but i meant is that they add too much sugar to the coffee to the point it is literally unhealthy

Actual quality coffee also costs much more than anything you'd get from Starbuck.

In fact the beans are supposed to be as fresh as possible before getting brewed. Cappuccino is delicious indeed.

Most people drink it as an energy shot for the morning.

I'd also argue that caffeine is somewhat harmful on the long run. It'd be better to limit it (and taurin as well).

Just because someone criticized a bad aspect of a work, doesn't mean they hate it.

"Think about the children" is a mediocre argument that works because of people's ignorance.

Using kids as a shield to justify or as a counterargument is really low. This is because of that whole "think about the kids" that Youtube has brought many issues to content creators and that the Internet gets less neutral overall.

Yes, children should never get exposed to some specific type of content nor interacting with ill-intended strangers but it's also the parent's job and shouldn't penalise people that hasn't done anything bad. It's like putting a ban on alcohol or cabarets because minors aren't allowed in them.

NOT EVERY SINGLE FRIGGING MOVIE FRANCHISE NEEDS TO COPY THE MCU'S FORMULA!

we need back movies that try to tell a story by themselves instead of needing you to see 80979067490632451243 series

Shouldn't it be obvious at this point?

I do miss when references and characters from another series were scarce so that the surprise from seeing a crossover was a rare celebration and not to be expected.

When Dragon Ball showed one chapter with Arale from Dr. Slump meeting Goku it was a gentle reference before focusing back to the main plot. DBS went a bit too far with the multiverse stuff.

I think there's also a general fatigue about multiverses in general media and Ready Player One is the absolute saturation of it.

I think I already said this but I hate when I say anything about something not working on my windows pc and then people come in telling me to change to linux
Some people can be such arrogant snobs, especially Linux users. I work with Macintosh so I probably get 2x the idiotic responses when asking for help. Don't let them get under your skin.

As much convenient Linux is for some things that kind of answer always feels like someone telling how their feet hurt from using boots and someone comes telling them to get a bike instead of buying a new pair.

I'm tired of people, when Eldritch/Cosmic/Lovecraftian horror is being talked about, putting his racism and his cat's name to the table when the subject wasn't even about him.

Yes, he was a problematic person, yes he had a cat with a... "peculiar" name but no, we don't have to remind people about something that we all already know if it doesn't bring anything to the conversation.

I'm not even that fan of H.P. L and I've barely read his stuff yet I feel like anything related to cosmic horror (even The King in Yellow and The Thing despite it predating his writing) is a magnet for people wanting to feel good and virtuous by implying that people liking that kind of stuff are condoning his thinking (if not straight up telling they're also being racist by liking an adjacent thing)...

I could also say the same thing about people implying that liking Starship Troopers (the book) or other from Heinlein means you agree with his views regarding war. It's not like we could change dead people.

Bumping months old threads should be outlawed
What if it leads to interesting discourse? I mean, I've never seen it happen, but it could in theory.

On that note, what is the limit of time for bumping an inactive thread before it's just necroposting? Three months?

Cover shooter isn't a bad genre. I mean what made them boring is just devs lacking creativity.

Even early TPS had some covering as the gameplay element (I've noticed how Max Payne incited you to use the walls and pillars to protect yourself from bullets while Bullet Time is a "joker card" when you're ready to strike which is a genius move from the devs).

Halo Combat Evolved is a console FPS yet still has some PC FPS/Arena shooter DNA in it thanks to its multiplayer. It was starting with the Call of Duty series going further into the regenerating health gimmick that the genre started to fall into a vicious cycle.

I haven't played Gears of War nor Dead Space yet but Vanquish has proven that you can still make Third Person Shooters fun while also being playable on a gamepad.

However I'd love to see more that allows movement options and better platforming but that's just me.

Another hot take is that platforming can work in FPS, just like Quake and Half-Life even without being able to see your body like in Mirror's Edge.

I suppose the time limit would be up to the mod team. Interesting discourse is one thing, being quoted months after a discussion was exhausted... just start a new thread and leave me out.

This may be more lukewarm than hot take, but I think that playing max payne 1 without the slo mo is pretty fun for a little bit.

I'd even say that it's recommended sometimes to not overuse bullet time to keep it for harder confrontations.

A good game with a gimmick should always make it feasible without the need to use said gimmick (in a way you can finish Mario 64 without using the B buttons albeit you'd get more limited movements).

I think a game forcing a gimmick for everything you can do would make it jarring and I'd always say that players should have more than one way to tackle things.
