Hot takes

I don't think Marvel Rivals or Overwatch are very good.
Overwatch 1 was actually good in its early days.

On the other hand Overwatch 2 is such a backstab from Actiblizzard:
Forcing people to update to the next entry, promising a PvE mode but not doing it and finally changing the team number so it radically alters the dynamic of the gameplay were annoying.

These games have great character designs, but characters, these good looking should not be in a first person or third person shooter. Both of these games should have just been team based brawlers or have a single player campaign, where you could select whatever character at certain points or chapters. That would have been way more interesting. Especially for Rivals.

Shenmue was never good.

Watch Dark City The Director's Cut or Jet Li's The One over any of the Matrix sequels. I mentioned earlier that I love Dark City over all the Matrix franchise.

I highly doubt this is much of a hot take, but I remember over the years and even now there's still some of these AVGN downfall or it's no longer good videos. Or how nobody watches James Rolfe anymore. Which is a big ass lie. Fine if you don't like his content, found something better, don't find it interesting anymore, or not a fan. But if that's the case, why the hell does he still have 3.3 million subscribers? Now I admit that he faltered a bit in the early 2010s. I know I lost interest around that time and I didn't really start watching his stuff again until about late 2014/early 2015. I don't watch every single episode of his stuff, but he has improved his craft over the years. He got more informative with this videos and later on he scaled back on the scat and toilet humor. Now there are people who does things better than him, I don't have a problem with it, and neither does he. James Rolfe is the most stable YouTube critic on the internet. He never lost himself, nor did he become a big asshole. His ex-buddy Mike Mattei is another story, but we'll save him for another time. All I have to say is that I'm glad AVGN is still around. While I might not watch every single one of his videos, I still check in every often. He's a cool dude.

I never saw the big deal of Big Lebowski. I know it's one of those cases of you had to be there at the time, but even if I watched it at an older age of when it was first released, I still wouldn't have liked it. I know for a fact that, that there are younger generations that don't care for it or know it exists, but even my parents don't even know this movie exist. Not that it wouldn't matter anyway. Knowing them, they'll watch it once and probably forget about it. I find the movie too boring and the characters mostly uninteresting.

I have no problems with "yellow/white paint/telegraphed way pointing" in video games. This was nothing new in the industry since the PS1 era. Developers always had easy or obvious ways on where you're supposed to go next or funnel you into the right direction. The only difference is now professional critics, angry grifting YouTubers, and the so called hardcore agree on something for once. Though the so called professionals didn't cry about it back during the 7th generation or even praised it.

These same fools never really complained about telegraphing in seventh generation games. Shadows of the Damned uses bright yellow rings or highlighted items with white and gold. None of them complained about telegraphing in DmC 2013. Other than hardcore classic fans, but critics praised the telegraphing of red and blue. They still do. No one complained about the use of yellow telegraphing in Hi-Fi Rush. The game does use more than yellow, but yellow is still a predominant use of going to the next area.

I feel like the yellow paint is lazy. Who decided that this super non-immersive thing is the standard for what you use to show the player they can interact with something? Back in the days of pre-rendered backgrounds, ala PS1 RPGs and survival horror games, it was a matter of technology. The things that weren't pre-rendered were probably something that could move, since they were jaggy and looked out of place. It would have been a lot worse if they were bright yellow. Nowadays we don't have those limitations. Some games make it obvious, but not yellow, like a cliff handhold in Ghost of Tsushima or Horizon that is discolored somewhat. And then you have FF7 Rebirth and RE4 remake not even attempting immersion.

Maybe they think modern gamers are all like DSP, I dunno. At least gamers aren't treated quite as much like idiots now as we were in the PS3/360/Wii era of forced tutorials and mega handholding.

Technology always changes, yet people still get lost. This has been proven and not just by the people on the corporate side. I do prefer more creative ways of sign posting, but at the same time i'm not gonna throw a hissy fit every time it's much more obvious. There are indie games that do this too, but they either don't get as much harsh criticism, or or are praised for it. I honestly don't care that much about "immersion", whenit comes to these things. If i'm having a great time and enjoying either the story, characters gameplay or all the above, then it's not gonna matter nor bother me much. Life is too short for that, and I got better things to worry about.

No. You had some, but most just wanna make sure to keep the player going. No different how it was back in the day. Once again, a ton people do easily get lost, and these games with hyper realistic graphics. Not everybody is you or me. So don't feel too insulted, nor be offended about it.

At least gamers aren't treated quite as much like idiots now as we were in the PS3/360/Wii era of forced tutorials and mega handholding.
I wouldn't put the nostalgia goggles on that much. Not every casual game or easier treated people like drooling idiots. There were plenty that did that during 8th generation. Some did it better than others. It more or less, hasn't changed by that much. The only differenc is that you have the grifters and professionals, throwing up airs when they have nothing much better to talk about.

While Hytale may be good, it still too green and young to be the "Minecraft Killer", honestly i feel both games can coexists

Neither Hazbin nor Helluva Boss are the worst shows ever made, nor did they deserve all this hatred the grifters usually push out on everyone. These aren't my type of shows, and I don't care much for their humor but I can't hate them. I know that why certain people hate them, the artist behind them or just hate the people who like these type of shows, but these are bullies who waste their time and have nothing better to do in their lives.

Panty and Stocking is better, but the show has its own flaws too. Especially within the first season. The second season is much better and I like more.

I don't like Discord, never had, never will
I only used it the one time when Second Wind first started. Long before the face ID scan bullshit. Good news (bad news for the people who used the face ID and gave out personal information), Discord just killed itself.

Doom 64 is the best of the classic Doom games.

I never agreed with the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games being spiritual successors to Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, or 2D brawlers in general. In some sense, yes, with the co-op play and health meters. Yet a lot of these games have pacing issues and stages that go on for too long. I'll give credit to Samurai Warriors and Hyurle Warriors mitigating these issues with smaller levels or speedier characters. My argument holds even more weight now with the return of the 2D brawler genre in the late 2010s and new Golden Age in 2020s.

If anything, games such as Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and even God of War are better 3D spiritual successors to Final Fight, Streets of Rage, or Golden Axe, than the Musou brand. That includes MadWorld, Anarchy Reigns, or any of the Spikeout games.

Spoilers for Devil May Cry 5 - I actually love that V is the human half of Vergil and not a separate character. While interesting, if V was his own character, then him being Vergil's human half would not work. Especially since his familiars are not only just callbacks, but memories/nightmares from the first game. Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare all fit. If V were his own character, it would be harder to explain or justify why he has DMC1 bosses and a mini boss as his familiars. Plus, you get some more character development and reveal just seeing and listening the human half of Vergil.

My only problem is that they don't bring back Phantom in some fashion, and the "dream" version of him dies in a prequel manga. I know it would have been hard for Itsuno and his team, but they could have tried something or drop a reference in a cut-scene/flashback. Even a lore note would have been preferable.

Between the two: Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and SFIII: 3rd Strike, I still consider 3rd Strike the best. Now don't get wrong, both games have their respective developer at the top of their game and pedigree. The best graphics, animations, sounds, and gameplay for 2D fighters that still looks jaw dropping today. One advantage 3rd Strike has over Garou is how it handles the final boss. In 3rd Strike, it's just get to the boss the normal way and that's it. Garou does the annoying trend of having to beat each fight with no continues to reach the true final boss. I hate that shit. This is an SNK arcade game. Do I really need to clarify any further why this is a problem?

Another advantage is 3rd Strike's soundtrack is God-tier of ear pleasing music. Garou's soundtrack is good and stands on its own, but it is nowhere near as memorable as 3rd Strike's hip-hop, jazz and techno infused soundtrack. Otherwise, they're both awesome fighting games that are the best of their respective franchise, and each game deserves a couple of hours in arcade mode and between your buddies or family.

I don't what it was with the critics at the time, but I do not know why they keep comparing Sonic 2 (2022) to Marvel films (usually in a positive light). These movies are nothing like them and do their own thing (outside of Sonic making a Winter Soldier reference). When I last checked, an action-adventure film leading to an ancient temple with magical jewels was something not invented by Marvel, nor the MCU. That's a tale as old as time itself! I admit this version of Sonic comes off as super-lite Deadpoolish, but that was more so the first movie. Even then, only barely. Get your head out of your ass film critics. Not everything should be compared, nor make an analogy to the MCU. Let films be their own thing and stop making comparison that makes no sense. Thank you.

Aside from Rise of the Lycans, Underworld is the most boring action franchise ever made with only the live action RE films rivaling it in that department. How do you make vampires vs. werewolves so boring? Ugly color palette for the first two movies. The franchise was stuck in the worst parts of the 90s and early 2000s. How and why the franchise lasted so long is beyond me.

That's a brave statement but I think Doom 1 is a close second.

I would add that Street Fighter III 3rd Strike is also a "re-re-release" of a game that came out earlier so they have built upon an already produced game to perfect it whereas Garou is only one game and while I do wish they made a "Garou 1.5" (or any expanded re-release with balancing and new characters/levels) I think it's still impressive as it was near SNK's first "death".

I know, and still have a bigger preference for 3rd Strike. It wouldn't matter if SNK were able to get another iteration or not around that time.

Doom 64 has the better atmosphere and I love the level design overall. Though some of the puzzles in later levels I do find annoying. The game always felt like a proper Doom 3 than the AU Doom 3. Doom 64 is the official Doom 3 in the og timeline, so that makes it even better for me, and feel even more validated.

Linkin Park and the Gorillaz are the best bands of all time, and have aged so well, because they kept evolving their music, while still being true to themselves. Not only that, these two are really the only few bands from the 2000s that I love and still respect.

Uma emOne opinion is that I'm too nice and optimistic; I always see the best.

Eu só te conheço há um dia e agora você está se depreciando?????

Aff😔
What do you mean I'm not saying goodbye? I'm giving a critique of myself, saying I'm too nice to everyone, and I don't understand why that's considered my flaw.I don't know why I've disappeared, I'm just trying to take some time for myself to take care of my mother.

Okay I don’t know that I’m sorry :/

Why do you think it’s a flaw to be too nice-?

Ok, não sei, me desculpe :/

Por que você acha que ser bonzinho demais é um defeito?
There's no need to apologize; it was my comment that offended you. You think I'm nice all the time? It's because I don't know, I can't fight. Every time someone starts swearing, I want to help that person calm down.

Nothing inherently wrong that. Though I like to use a light touch to these things.
I'm wondering if the cost per hour is relevant when it comes to the fun you could get from it.

It's more about efficience over just time. Platformers will almost always be less longer than a RPG or Open World Exploration/Survival/Crafting game (take one or several of each) yet I feel like I wouldn't mind spending money on one if the gameplay is good.
I prefer shorter games overall. As long as the gameplay loop is fun and there's great bonuses and replay value, you won't see me complain much. Though you will always see me go for 6-10 hour games over a majority of 50+ hour EPIC RPGS/Open-World games. I don't have the time nor paitence, unless the story and characters are really that good and gripping.

Thank you for the conversation.
