Has anyone else been feeling more positive spending time here instead of other social media?

And depending on who you ask, humans are also wired for negativity. In prehistoric times, it helped people do amazing things compared to bigger, stronger, more seemingly adaptable animals. It's probably how in the modern day, people seek to do something with their lives more than just work and have families.

Heck, that fact is an idea I like for humans in fantasy and sci-fi worlds. We want to accomplish so much in spite of our relatively short lifespans and lack of natural power. Well, short-lived and weak compared to elves and dwarves and psychic space aliens, et cetera, anyway. Thus humans are the plucky go-getters, the innovators, the empire-builders. Humanity, fuck yeah.

Of course, just as you mentioned with modern dopamine depravation, people also have trouble finding ways to get their evolutionary fix. Social media is no different than the skinner boxes of predatory mobile games. And before that (and alongside it), drug addiction.
1000% agreed!

This place is pretty chill. And yeah I also find myself spending less time on major social media sites and more time on various niche forums (like this or ttrpg forums)

I basically ditched most social media usage when I stopped needing them for work anymore.

I'd been looking for a forum-like experience since then because I have fond memories of spending my time on obscure gaming forums back in the day, and it's a difficult feeling to replace with modern algorithm-fed social media.

Yep, this is a living time capsule of a different internet.

This place is wonderful, but I have two communities on Discord including my own that I like to engage with. Not even my Bluesky is worth using but I do touch it sometiems.

I wouldn't really say that Discord counts as social media – at least, not in the way that Twitter or Facebook or whatever does. It's a private chatroom client, and it's not like anyone ever uploads real information about themselves there, anyways.

Good point, Gorse dono. Discord mostly cannibalized and sterilized the once colorful jungle of IM clients that existed.

This place is very chill and I think mostly everyone here has something in common. I've stumbled on this entire page (CDromance page thingy) on accident by irresponsible me not focusing in class and looking for ROMS to download off the web to play on a web-based emulator. Soon though, the district or my School itself will find out about this site and block it. Overall, great place

Yeah, RGT is much more chill compared to every single forums I've been part of.
I still use Twitter and Discord on regular basis and my experience has always been pleasant anyway. My Twitter is 90% Japanese news, Discord is only for talking with friends.

Feelin' Fine (Badge) here...
I'm not alone anymore.

Don´t ban me for this but Social media is brain rot cancer so anything is 1000 times better.

So yeah I enjoyed my time here even if I mostly talk with my self get people to hate me and get mod´s pissed on me.
As another guy on the mod’s blacklist, I salute you! /j

I'm having way more fun posting here than on social media, if nothing else.

. . .
I've heard from someone, weeks ago...
The site is blessed and divinely speaking, protected.
(Please, Clippy, if you see this, don't reply with a meme here, like the last time...)

I haven't been on social media in quite some time. I definitely prefer this over Facebook, Discord, and Instagram.

Twitter for me is oddly therapeutic cause I get to just watch people duke it out in the comments for the stupidest shit imaginable while the other half just cares way too much. It's kinda funny.

Doubt it. It's very unlikely the school even knows what the fuck a "ROM" or "em-yu-lay-sion" is. Only teacher I've had who actually knows her stuff about piracy is one for my sci-fi class that I started back in January. She wrote into the syllabus day one that she will know when you pirated but it's pretty clear she probably only wrote it due to the threat of AI.

As a guy on the whitelist, how could you

This post was fact checked by REAL skibidi bop bop bop gigadegado hawk tuah sigmas from goofy ahh Ohio

True ✅

(chat is this real)

After discovering this site, I have completely stopped using Social Media like Twitter and Instagram.
The people here are some of the greatest, most nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to talk to.
Y'all are awesome!

I think the only non-Japanese account I follow is Danny Trejo, so the most heated argument that I see one way or another is related to tacos, which is fine by me.

I would say that most people here are here because they had the skills to want something, look for it, and find it for themselves even if that happened by someone helping them. That is so much more of a requirement than most things these days that just want warm bodies and why the active userbase actually feels fun and engaging. Everyone likes to point out how cozy we are, but I guaranty you it wouldn't be as nice here if the barrier to entry was the same as facebook, reddit, etc.
You're right.
It would be a catastrophe.

X/Twitter, Reddit and, dare I say, Bluesky are horrible places. All I can say is, haven't found any fear-mongering morons here.

Kinda controversial opinion: This site is so good because it is naturally gatekept by the fact it's a niche forum and it isn't that easy to find it. Most people that found it here found it because of CDRomance.
As long as this website don't get more and more popular we are cool, but if it goes well known be prepared for the same fate of most social medias out there, which tbh is going to be quite improbable to not happen because we are growing fast and people get hooked here easily.

That's a very accurate prognosis, actually.
