I'm with you — what the fuck does it even mean? Our Twitter ways are such garbage.I don't know what you all think about it, but the word "slop" is getting on my nerves.
Trash or junk food you feed to the pigs, or specific farm animals.I'm with you — what the fuck does it even mean?
We already did that decades ago: shit, crap, garbage, trash, muck, etc. I bet you any of those will replace slop and get overused as well.I propose we make a new term for "thing i dont like"
NGL, I didn't think it had meaning at all. Certainly never heard the word/concept offline.Trash or junk food you feed to the pigs, or specific farm animals.
Really? Even in school, it's a term you learn as far as back as elementary. I know that might not be the case nowadays, but it is still surprising, since it was very commonplace back then. Before the late 2010s at least.NGL, I didn't think it had meaning at all. Certainly never heard the word/concept offline.
Exactly. These terms are used in nothing, but contempt or to look down upon people for enjoying games they don't. The people who use these terms think they're the smartest persons in the room or immune to such "slop". When nine out of ten times they're part of the problem, or have no problem buying anything from Ubisoft if it's a "safe bet". Or more than happy to ignore a large company's dubious actions when it benefits them or their specific narrative. But now I like it even less because it feels dripping with contempt, which takes all the power out of a jab.
The term is cooked gonna use crooked game instead or something else yo the term slop dies quicker than woke hm.NGL, I didn't think it had meaning at all. Certainly never heard the word/concept offline.

Well... English is not my first language. That may have something to do with it ^^U!Really? Even in school, it's a term you learn as far as back as elementary. Understandable and still not your fault either way.Well... English is not my first language. That may have something to do with it ^^U!
No they don't. Streamlining it? Yes. "Dumbing Down"? Most don't do that. There are harder difficulty options and modes, but most of them don't kick you in the dick immediately. The challenge is still there, if or when a player wants it. This bullshit argument has been pedaled around since the 7th generation. Not every single person is going to want and overly difficult game at the start. I love challenging games too, but I am not going to freak out, because there is an Easy Mode, or the game in question is easier compared to the remake or whatever previous entry. This is a major 50/50 thing to me. I'm not at all fond of most remakes primarly because they dumb down the difficulty.
to be fair, the nes dragon quest games were insanely grind heavy. wasnt so much difficult as it was tediousolder games have editions of titles that are much easier than the originals such as Dragon Quest 1, 2, 3 ect. The SNES vs. the original NES versions.
I don't mean any tension. Moving on. This thread feels too heated. No they don't. Streamlining it? Yes. "Dumbing Down"? Most don't do that. Not trying to create tension either, but its ad nauseam take/argument I got sick before 8th generation barely even started. Most people play games to chill, and that is not a bad thing. Most "difficult" games from the past were either poorly scrapped together, or made insanely hard for no reason, other than to stop people from renting games, and purchase them to actually beat them. If possible. The same applies to most arcade games. They were made to be difficult from the start, and not make you "manly/put chest hair" on you. It's all self-gaslighting and marketing hype bullshit. Max Dood called this out years ago. He wasn't the only one, but certain old-school gamers either got offended, really defensive, or in-denial.I don't mean any tension. Moving on. This thread feels too heated.

Alarmist discourse, sweeping generalizations, bombastic statements... that's what oils the social engineering machine, sadly. No joke ever time I see articles or videos or whatever talking about how 'Younger generations are rejecting modern stuff and going back to the OLD things' I'm just like...are they really doing this or are you just some clickbaiter who found like some minor subculture into this stuff and pretending it represents the generation as a whole?
You see it with basically anything, not just gaming. Find some clubs of younger people into collecting BDs and DVDs? GEN Z IS REJECTING STREAMING AND GOING BACK TO PHYSICAL MEDIA.

It reminds me of the Vinyl fad. I do like the sound of a vinyl disc sometimes but ultimately it's silly to think that "if you listen music in this way and not that other way you're not actually listening to it correctly".No joke ever time I see articles or videos or whatever talking about how 'Younger generations are rejecting modern stuff and going back to the OLD things' I'm just like...are they really doing this or are you just some clickbaiter who found like some minor subculture into this stuff and pretending it represents the generation as a whole?
