Gaming Confessions

I made the mistake of thinking Devil May Cry 2 was Devil May Cry 3 and I got my dad to buy it. That was the first time that I learned that bad games do exist. We ended up taking it back, and eventually I got the third game. However, words cannot express how dumbfounded I was playing through Devil May Cry 2.
It's always a painful realization when we come across a bad game, but it is a necessary one, too.

I traded a copy of Driver for a copy of Gran Turismo 2. I still don't know how to feel about that one. I mean, I love GT2 but it was also the first and only time I traded a game, and I had a big collection.
I know it's not really a "gaming sin" or even a mistake (that's down to perspective), but it makes me feel weird for some reason... I hope the guy at least took care of it.

The only trade I remember doing is giving away Hard Drivin' for ESWAT. I'd say the nice label on Hard Drivin' duped the guy, because I think I won that trade.

Well in my case, both had something the other wanted. I wanted GT2, he wanted Driver. We both got exactly that. I can at least tell you GT2 brought me more enjoyment than Driver ever did.

Driver is cool for the novelty factor, perhaps, but as a driving game? heck, even as a game, period, GT2 wins in spades, if you ask me.

I bought a game on steam... and even tried to auction my trading cards or whatever it is that you do there.

I actually believed the Sega CD and 32X were good things to have.
I love the Sega CD! I played a ton of NHL and Silpheed on that thing. Also Lunar.

This is a great post. Love this! When Skyrim first came out, the nearby Gamestop was still getting rid of their PS2 stuff. I had Skyrim pre-ordered and mostly paid off, but I took my money off of that and got Fatal Frame 2 lmao. Honestly no regrets, because Skyrim is still super easy to get and good PS2 games... ehh no so much lol.

My true gaming sin is paying a scalper's cost for a PS5. I'm upset at myself for many reasons. And the worst part? I've never beaten a PS5 game on it or played one more than a few hours. Dx I've used it almost exclusively for PS4 games. I really REALLY should have waited until the PS5 shortage was over. I was a fool.
Oof that really sucks, having to pay all that money for a PS5, but hopefully you're enjoying your PS4 games with improved visuals yeah? Oh and btw, LOVE your sig image, it's styled off of FFT right?

I have 3 really big gaming regrets, and 2 of them I think are really stupid. My 1st and biggest was me losing my PS2 and the rather small collection of games I did have for it. I don't quite remember the last time I saw it, but if I could go back, I would have saved it.

My 2nd is not keeping the AV cables for my Xbox 360 when we moved across the country, idk why I thought that a flatscreen TV would be alright while being packed in the trunk of a sedan going across the country, boy was I disappointed when we finally settled down into a trailer after a couple of months. I couldn't play video games for basically a year since we had no internet, and eventually my laptop either stopped working or I stopped using it. I was still a little kid back then, so I found other ways to entertain myself (mom would take us to the thrift store like every other weekend, we'd get VHS tapes and she would also buy me books to read at night).

My 3rd is not finishing Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Granted, I was about 9 years old when I first played it after we moved back home, but I remember getting to the 2nd disc and then stopped playing for whatever reason, and it's kind of haunted me ever since, but I will have my victory one day, and I'm gonna make a whole retrospective dedicated to it. I still need to find all my discs sometime, but they're at my Grandpa's and I feel like I'm probably gonna have to go on a fetch quest to find all of them.

My gaming confession is that I confess I have no gaming confessions.

Happens to the best of us.
Yeah but I really need to stop the habit of stopping a game when I reach the end
I always do it

Yeah, I guess that is the one silver lining to owning it, it's nice to have a bunch of games running at a smooth 60fps and even better if they take advantage of the DualSense's wonderful haptic feedback. I'm a bit more ambivalent on the adaptive triggers, they've both been cool and a nuisance. Oh, I did think of one PS5 game I beat! Silent Hill 2 Remake! I'll keep my opinion of the game for another topic, but I will say the PS5 can certainly perform better than it did with that game. x)

And you are correct about my sig! Thank you so much, the artist did a wonderful job on it. :D My only regret is I had the artist make the level my age at the time and it obviously hasn't leveled up with me. D: That is like, a non issue to the extreme though. x)

In middle school, I traded a gameboy color with a pokemon game... for Twisted Metal 4 on PS1...
Oh no, buddy. I legit think this is the most painful one in the topic so far. If it were Black at least you'd have a really good game, even if it was still a bad trade. But 4? Woof. You have my condolences.

Really? Lemme try to out-do it then. I sold my ps3 because of a psn bug that was easy to fix, except I only found out about the fix ten years later after I re-bought a ps3 that had the same bug….
Poetic irony, eh?

...That is pretty damned painful too. Oof. It is so easy to make questionable decisions in the heat of the moment.

My friend had a PS1 and was always bragging about it. He filled his memory card and I told him that when its full he had to buy another of course I knew better. He finally figured it out when he noticed I was only using the same 2 cards I had. Buy that time he had bought several cards. Which were not cheap at the time.
i also have multiple memory cards for the ps1, ps2 and gamecube. i got them over the course of a few years, but i also got a lot of games for those systems and animal crossing, which requires isown card to save.

I sold my GBA for $20 since I was moving into a smaller place and needed to declutter. I had the NDS at the time, but I do miss being able to swap out AA batteries if I ran outta juice.
Well, if it was a DS Lite or similar youd at least have the option to slot in GBA games via the bottom slot.

Does a confession have to be negative? I'll try myself at a positive confession.

This Internet Cafe next to where I was living also had a room with a projector where you you pay to play console games. Great concept but it failed due to lack of demand and ended up not as good an investment as they had predicted. So they sold their entire collection of games. 5$ EACH GAMES. Since I was their neighbor this sale caught my eyes pretty quick and I ended up emptying their PS2 RPG incredible collection. And I mean, all the most expensive and rare games were there. Wild Arms, Xenosaga's, Tales of, Final Fantasy, Dark Cloud's, Shin Megami, Grandia, .Hack//'s, Disgaia, Suikoden, and so on, and so on. They had them ALL!! I ended up buying a mountain for 200$ of 5$ RPGs in mint condition.

In this city there also was, and there still is, a gaming store where you can trade games. You bring a game that's worth 70$, they let you trade for the same value but you pay 5$ more for doing the trade.

Well guess how I afforded hundreds of dollars of games for the next few years. I wanted a gamecube at some point, I brought 1 game, just 1 game, and bought the gamecube with a bunch of games and only had to pay 5$ to trade. I bought so much stuff using these RPG's as trading credits.

I could afford everything I wanted for years because of this pile of PS2 JRPG's.

Obviously I played most of them before selling them tho.

Is this a confession? I mean, I certainly felt like I had robbed this internet cafe.

Well, you did confess something, so yeah

Is was a DS Lite, so I had that functionality. I wish that I held on to it now and then. I guess nostalgia is a factor, even though the screen was a pain to see on (it was the original GBA, so not back lite).

Yeah nostalgia is strong. Lack of backlighting is where I draw the line on portables, though.
