Gaming Confessions

I Years ago, Traded a Atari Jaguar for a CD-I

I cheated like crazy every time we played Age of Mythology on the internet café, keeping it cool enough that my friends wouldn't notice... except for that one time when I was down to (literally) my last guy, then I quickly typed in "THRILL OF VICTORY", and "YOU LOST" appeared on my friend's screen. He froze up for a while, then punched me. Good times XD

Confess your own gaming sins, mistakes, or regrets that you made. It could be something small or big, there's nothing to be ashamed of.

I'll start with my own confession, I pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077.
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man? NO PREORDERS!

My regret is that I gave away my old 90s PC. I was still a teenager when I did it and I couldn't have known that gaming would start sucking at some point instead of continuously getting better but it still stings whenever I think about it even if it wasn't anywhere near being a gaming beast or anything of the sort.

I was adamant the Wii version of Dead Rising was better than the 360 version because I didn’t want to admit I was jealous of my 360-having friends.
I was like that with Street Fighter 2 on the MD versus the SNES version with most of my friends LOL. To be fair it was more Capcom's fault than the MD's fault.

Yeah I had them growing up. Being a Sega person, I actually believed, as a kid, that Sega knew best, like momma. How deluded I was.
Reminds me of the AVGN review of the Sega 32x, he said that with the Sega CD it looked like the system was on life support...

It pretty much was. It was Sega trying to ride on the coattails of a new tech to appear bleeding edge. It's the kind of thinking that gave us the Philips CDI too.

I've preordered games, pirated games, modded consoles, modded consoles for others, bought dlc, bought expansion passes, subscribed to services, payed for skins, monthly subscription to games, bought mobile games, sold my consoles, gifted them, payed for online.

like, is that a sin?? lol

SEGA did okay, they done far better than Nintendo outside of USA, it's just when SONY came around they ran out of business basically every console publisher that exists and kept it that way for two generations.

Riiiiight, AVGN also did a Philips CDI review, was it the system with the weird licensed Zelda games?

Correct. If memory serves, Nintendo shimmied out of the deal with Sony (which would have given us the Nintendo Playstation, I guess, a CD addon for the SNES), and tried to work something out with Philips instead. I figured they saw the junk the thing was and decided to lease out some IPs for Philips just so it felt like the deal didn't fall through completely.

Sony was none too happy, took the protoype, beefed it up, and Nintendo helped create the console that would destroy most of theirs going forward. Hurray for corporate smarts!
