Games You Finished in 2026

Ninja Gaiden 4: Two Masters DLC. Fun weapons, but the final boss is ass and has a one hit kill you have barely a microsecond to react towards. I won't be going through the DLC campaign much again, aside from the first two levels.

Resident Evil 9 I beat a few weeks ago, and it's in the top 10 spot for RE titles. Maybe somewhere between 4 and 6. I completed my NG+ run a few nights ago too.

Romeo Is A Dead Man I finished last month. Good game, but combat is not as good as No More Heroes 3 nor Killer Is Dead especially.

Sunset Riders (Arcade) and Wild Guns (SNES). Both are still excellent arcade run and gun, and gallery shooters respectively.

I've been on an old school Resident Evil roll. So far I've finished 2, 3 and 4. I plan on tackling OG and Revelations next.

Well, that's the 28th game beaten of this year. And probably one of more I will alternate from Breath of Fire III (where I'm sure I reached **at least** 1/5 of the game. Game is very enjoyable, fun and so charming. No real complainings).

I played this on Switch via NSO subscription. I know there should be e-Reader levels, but apparently here they forgot to unlock them...? Weird considering we did got the automatic unlocking on any other game's content locked via Game Boy compatibility (the e-reader levels in SMBA4, the maps in Fire Emblem Path of Radiance unlockable if you connect the game with Blazing Sword/Sacred Stones etc.). Hope they fix since these are still 12 additional levels.

I did tried this game back in like 2006/2007, but actually beat the 2024 remake first and...yeah, I think that one is the definitive version, but this original still has more exclusive charm that the remake loses, especially Martinet's lines (no "Monkey Man!" lol).
A little sad that the series became "Mini-Mario vs DK" rather than mainly just Mario.

A frustration that I will address is how bullsh*t and restrictive some stars are to get. I think two levels I got them with the bare minimum.

Crisis Beat I finished yesterday again. Though I had not touched it in a good long while.

A new list! How exciting. Ranked favourite to least favourite, the bottom ones I either did not finish or spend a lot of time with.

Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)
Fast Lane (MAME)
Half-Minute Hero (PSP)
Tomb Raider: Anniversary (PC)
Myst (PC)
Silent Hill 2 (PS2)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC)

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (PC)
Super Mario Bros. 2 - Super Mario All Stars Version (SNES)
Alice - Madness Returns (PC)
I dropped Alice: Madness Returns. It is too long. I wish it was much more compact game with a more tightly written story. It found this hard because I loved everything else about it. I also didn't persist with Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. I was torn because there was an immersive story hidden behind complex puzzles. I feel I ruined the latter by looking up a walkthrough.

I can add:

Silent Hill (PS2)
Final Fantasy VII Remake (PC)
Aladdin (SNES)

I just finished Rushing Beat X (PS5). It's a fun game, and the best in the whole franchise, but it still has some growing pains and issues like its predecessors. It has that Rushing Beat jank. The characters are all fun, and have a wide variety of moves, but certain characters are either more fun or better than the others. My main issue with the game is that the bosses are just okay or frustrating. Bosses tend to have way too much health at times, and the same goes for some enemies. Hit detection mostly work, but there are moments where I swear I am close to the enemy and my punches or attacks will sometimes miss. It didn't too often, but it happens way more than something you would rarely see in games like The TakeOver, Streets of Rage 4, or Double Dragon Gaiden. Certain enemy types can be cheap too. Mainly the wrestler and robot enemy types. They will sometimes grab you out of now where, and you can't break out of it. Why do certain brawlers still do this, when games like SOR4 and Shredder's Revenge solved this issue?

If you're into Rushing Beat lore, then this game's story is a fun doozy. You're not supposed to take it too seriously, but it's a game made by fans, and clearly for the fans. It has references tying back mainly to the first two games, but it's not just memberberries. Keep in mind, RBX is a prequel. It takes place after the first two games, but before the final entry in the franchise, Shura. I did enjoy it, but I probably be sticking with Free Mode to just play the game. There are some nice details as each character has their own unique dialogue when encountering bosses or story events.

The game has 9 stages total. The last two tend to drag little, but more the final stage. Thankfully, it's not that long. I will say the look of the game has been improved, and getting used to the art style and heavy ink shading. Almost reminds me of Viewtiful Joe a little.

As far as ranking this game goes, it might be a little too early for me to decide, but the game sits around between a 6-7/10. It's a decent time, and you'll have fun, but expect certain issues to grind your gears and frustrate you. The good thing is the game seems to give you unlimited continues on Normal at least. I don't know about Hard or Shura Mode, but I honestly don't want to play this on the harder difficulties. Not worth it, and there's no extra/secret ending for doing as far as I know. It's almost as if this was done to counterbalance the cheap difficulty.

Whoever you play as gets their own epilogue after beating the game. As far as 2.5D brawlers go, RBX is not better than Double Dragon Neon nor even Double Dragon Revive, but better than Demolish Fist. Not the biggest milestone to accomplish as there are other brawlers that already do that, but whatever.

January-February

1. Yoshi's Crafted World (NSW) Score: 7/10
2. Akatsuki Blitzkampf Ausf. Achse (DC) Score: 8/10
3. The King of Fighters 2000 (NEO) Score: 8/10
4. YoYo's Puzzle Park (PS1) Score: 8/10
5. The King of Fighters '99 (NEO) Score: 8/10

6. Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly-Paradise (TCD) Score: 8/10
7. The King of Fighters 2001 (NEO) Score: 7/10

I completed Rushing Beat X again, but this time with Free Mode on Normal. I actually did better here, than my first playthrough, but the game still has bullshit enemy design or hazards I don't like. Parrying is honestly not worth it. Combo cancelling is and dash cancelling to an extent are way more more worth doing. Though even dash cancelling can cause more trouble than its worth with certain enemy types.

I learned something, and that's if you're attacking from the Z-Axis (the game is a 2.5D brawler), you have a much easier time avoiding bullshit grabs, or avoiding immediate attacks from specific bosses. I don't know if this was exactly intentional, as sometimes the Z-Axis method doesn't work, or you're better off just memorizing a boss's attack pattern, wait out, and start the process all over again.

The ranking system is mostly useless as it boils down to getting a high combo score for each section, and that's about it. It's fun, but it does lose its appeal somewhat. There is a challenge to this game, but at least on Easy and Normal, you get unlimited continues. I take it this was more so done for casual play, but that means certain players are just going to brute force it, nor learn the more of the combo system.

Some alternate paths are not worth going to, or just wastes more time. I am more so referring to the last two levels. Just keep going straight and skip the rooms. Food items you want to hold on to, until you get the proper ingredients and make them at the shop. They way you get better buffs, and stock up on them in case of a tough fight.

I stuck with Blid in the first quarter of my playthrough, then Wendy until near a little over the halfway point, and stuck with Kazan. These characters are so much fun, but as much as I love Wendy, Kazan is stealing the show for me. He's basically the brawler version of Ryu Hayabusa in this game! Bild is fun and he has some of the best wrestling moves in this game!

Beating Free Mode unlocks Boss Rush mode. There are no other bonus features after this. The only thing afterward is do story mode and get the other characters endings for achievements, but I am not going to do that each time, or I might stick with Easy Mode to get it over with faster.

I like this game, but I can't give it any higher than a 6/10. Not unless they fix some issues and some odd bugs. I had soft crash on stage 5 in my first playthrough, and for my second on free mode, I had to do stage 5 again, because the game didn't save when I started stage 6 the night before for whatever reason. I will still play on occasion and do boss rush, but I don't see myself playing the harder difficulties. Especially if they limit your continues.

I'm looking forward to having more time to play things in general soon, haven't had much free time as of late and I squashed RE 9 into long sessions as I wanted to stay off the net and avoid spoilers.

while for most of my playthrough i was cursing the 1st gen jank and low framerate, i have to say that an overwhelming feeling of adoration washed over me as i experienced that entire final mission and ending. this is probably my favorite ending of any ac game, and the fact that the player character from this game becomes the main antagonist of ac2 makes it so much better. also the soundtrack was definitely the best of the 1st gens

build i used on the final boss:

First game of the year ive beaten was Okami.

An absolutely gorgeous game with expertly crafted dungeons paired with a simple yet charming story with a fun cast of characters

Dragon Quest 11 S Definitive Edition

If this is what other Dragon Quest games are like, then I'm excited to play them. Extremely addictive and fun, it uses its interesting story and fun characters to carry you to the very end.

Highly recommended.

Just finished Fate/Extra a couple of days ago and even as a fan of the franchise, I don't think I can rate this game more than a 6/10. Gameplay was mind numbing. The rock-paper-scissor mechanic was fine but I ended up just choosing one option to just breeze through the game. Skills don't really matter much aside from forcing your enemy to not attack since if you use a Skill, they basically just skip their turn. The Masters were alright, nothing too standout but that might be because I've already known these characters through osmosis. The same thing with the servants, they are fine. Nothing too mindblowing aside from Arcuied just showing up for some reason. The ending was also just not good or even satisfying. Twice Pieceman just had a massive monologue about how War is gonna make sure that humanity continues forward or some type of shit.

But, I pushed through because everyone keeps telling me CCC is better and basically the story Nasu wanted to write. I'll see if I go back and just play through the other routes since I chose Rani on my first playthrough and while she was a good character, I just wished I chose Rin.

just finished Legend of heroes - Trails from Zero.

on ps vita ( fan- translated version )

coming from trails in the sky 3rd, zero was a real breath of fresh air, love the new city of crossbell and the protagonist are really nice to follow.

the game was also less difficult, i barely even needed to grind to advance in the story, it felt great.
